I didn't grow up in Germany, just moved here and been living for the last 10 years, so I don't have that Germany bias, even though I do find other German cars nice too. But I absolutely prefer the GR86 over a Golf GTI or even over something like the BMW M2. The VW GTI is more practical, like many other hatchbacks. The GR86 is not practical or as practical as you can make a sports coupe - it's RWD and pretty much dedicated to driving fun and as a sports-coupe it beats any hot-hatch to ever be made in terms of looks, you can also do donuts or smaller/safe drifts with it occasionally, you can't do that with the GTI. The cars are actually very different. I'm buying the GR86 as I'm a car enthusiast.
This is so much better than the first 86. Solid mid range grunt, same acceleration times as a Mk8 GTI, lightweight, low CG, no turbo. Well done Subaru/Toyota
Borla has uploaded a video of their S-type exhaust and Attak exhaust for it! They made one for the original GT86 and Scion FRS as well. Sounds nicer than stock!

I love mine. I have owned Mustangs, Corvette, Porsche, and I have to say Mt GR 86 Holds its own, and is fun, and exciting to drive. I just tossed on an Axleback and the sound is just right now. Add 50 more hp and these cars will be amazing. Get the 0 to 60 down to a 5 sec.
6.4s to 100 having to make two shifts inbetween looks like a really good time to me! It's still pulling at 220 km/h but it suddenly stops at 222. Limiter?
I love that Toyobaru makes this car but they are still selling it short. It needs just a hint of more attitude. About 50 more horsepower and a more aggressive exhaust note would add a LOT of fun factor to this car. And the styling. It isn’t ugly but isn’t special. It doesn’t make me want to look back at it as I walk into the grocery store.
16,3 100-200 is pretty decent, about the same as a mk8 gti. And im sure with a decent exhaust, headers and tune should be quite a bit faster. and removing the limiter im sure it will reach at least 250km/h

Hi Max, I really liked 10 year Anniversary GR 86 Special Edition , dashboard and style interior inside so amazing , style of interior really like 2008-2017 in new car in 2023. My friend bought this car recently. For me this car drives very well.

For those who are considering buying this please be aware that the Subaru is the better option compared to this as the Subaru has better suspension components, therefore better ride
Is the top speed limited? Even though the 6th gear is too long, the engine still puts out more than 200 horsepower at 6k rpm, that should be enough for more than 250kph, yet it cannot get even over 230.
@@TheSucharmistrz No, because with a manual transmission and RWD you will not lose over 16%. 16+ % transmission loss is for an automatic with AWD. Moreover than that, it's not a boosted engine where they usually underrate HP numbers.
This should be a fairly affordable fun car for the average Joe. Too bad in the Netherlands you have to pay an extra 30k (!) Clown World tax bringing the total price to 70k. Completely insane. For reference, my Focus RS mk3 had a 10k tax.

I’m thinking that if the Toyota GR86 did come to Romania, it could cost around €40,000. In Hungary, this is priced from over €38,000. So some consumers in Romania would be able to afford it if it was sold there, it’s just that Toyota doesn’t wanna sell the GR86 in that particular market.

Dynos reported 250 horsepower for the 2nd gen cars. That should be enough for a car designed for spirited driving and taking turns old-school style.

My stock Guilietta Veloce is faster but this one has the looks to match the fun experience . No hot hatch can look better .
