Wonderful work, Andy. Very cool story lines at play here, and you did a great job with the production behind it! Thank you for the movie and for the captions! 🙏🏻🙂 Your work is amazing, but I guess you already know that. That was weird. 🤨 And now for the questions 😁: 1. Have you played the other DLC, “Legacy of the First Blade”? 2. If you have, what is your opinion on it? 3. Will you be doing a movie based on it?
I loved Legacy of the First Blade (although I know that's not a common opinion) and I do plan to do a movie for it, alongside a movie for the crossover they did between Odyssey and Valhalla. I've been working out strategies to instantly kill enemies in every AC game, which not only looks awesome, but will also save you time, as this is a very long game. You may even consider cutting certain story missions that don't need to be there or making an episode for each arc. You can also skip some boss fights by assassinating them. This is what I've got so far for Valhalla: We'll need the hidden blade acquired early in the story, the Viper Bow, the fastest bow in the game, which you can get by upgrading a merchant, the perfect dodge and bow finisher skills from the upgrade tree, Harpoon Impalement from Venonis Ruin, and Rush and Bash from Ravensburg. It isn't necessary for the playstyle, but Eivor using her father's axe that she acquires early on makes sense story-wise to me (and let the Animus choose is the canonical gender). The primary tactic is to hit all the enemies' weak points as quickly as possible to set them up for a finisher, which is very cinematic and a guarunteed kill. This is definitely the one to try attaching something to your screen to aim with. It requires even more precision for locational damage than Horizon. Against distant enemies, the bow will obviously do fine, but up close there are two ways to expose them and give you time to line up your shots. Leaving your support hand with nothing equipped will give you a guarunteed hidden blade knockdown in combat if you hold the support hand button, which is our first method. Use a heavy attack first to bash shields out of the way. The game encourages you to follow up with a stomp, but this isn't a guarunteed kill against higher level enemies. Instead use the bow to hit all the weak points while they're disabled. Chances are this will get the job done, but if it doesn't they'll get right back up into a second stagger and give you the finisher. The second is how you defend yourself since blocking with the hidden blade is really hard. By perfect dodging instead you'll get slow motion like with Threat Sensors in Spiderman, giving you plenty of time to maneuver around your enemy and take your shots. You can also get slow motion by aiming in midair and on your first detection with stealth set to the lowest difficulty. The bow finisher will help with your positioning by allowing you to get the kill at range so you don't have to expose yourself in order to execute them. Some enemies don't have visible frontal weak points. You can dodge behind, but the hidden blade functionality with a backstab requires more testing. I'll update you once we figure it out. Some bosses have weak points, some are immune to the hidden blade even if you block break them, and some have both traits at once and just really suck to fight. The other two abilities are for throwing enemies off ledges, which looks stylish as hell. The harpoon is best for close ledges to the side, and the grab is best for ledges behind and farther away. You might want to double check you don't need to follow up with some bow shots in case they survive the fall You can find a vast wealth of mechanical knowledge for stealth action games on SneakyServer for Discord. That's where I shared the rest of my advanced combat guide. We also make videos where we choreograph missions from start to finish and retry them until they're perfect, which has a lot of overlap with what you create. We could probably learn a lot from each other, so I'd love if you would check it out
@@icarusgaming6269 Wow that's a big comment lol I definitely plan to cut arcs that aren't important to the main story. As much as some of those arcs are cool on their own, many of them just don't do anything for the larger story, aside from contributing to your alliances, which you add to in the main storylines anyway. I have an outline already and there are far more quests and objectives that I will not be including in the movie than those that I will. There's a LOT of filler in this game. During my first playthrough I started out with light bows, but I ended up switching to hunter bows instead since they deal bigger damage in one hit, which is particularly helpful for stealth, but I found it helpful during combat as well. I agree with using Varin's axe and I'm definitely going with the canon character. Hitting weak points is something I had trouble with in my original playthrough, and I ended up being more successful with close combat than ranged, and type of bow didn't make much difference there for me. I liked doing the screen attachment when I did TLOU2, since it allowed me to do full control of the aiming without a reticle, but it also depends on exactly how I intend to use it. If I end up doing more hidden blade in stealth and more quick firing during combat, then yeah the light bow would be good and also auto aim would probably be sufficient if I don't care as much about hitting weak points, as I said I'm not great at when I tried. I may try a few things before settling on a style I like. However, I don't like the idea of having a dot attached to my TV that I use for other things for the two months or whatever it might take me to capture everything for this game, so I will have to balance out how worth it it is for me. If I find enough value in using that, then I will. In Fate of Atlantis for example, auto aim was good enough for what I did. I've never been a fan of using the hidden blade during combat (although I get why some like it), and I really liked using the shield, which I think just makes sense for the period, so I doubt I would use that method. It sounds like you're doing some really cool stuff that's probably beyond what I'm capable of doing in a realistic timeframe, but I will keep some of those tips in mind as I hone my style throughout the story. I do like to make it feel like my character is learning to get better throughout the story as well. Obviously some of that simply comes with the skill points, but other aspects are intentional as well.
@@AndyGilleand The idea is to use the bow in close quarters. It's a very versatile weapon. I find the aim assist pulls you towards center mass like Watch_Dogs, so I had to turn it off, but minimal can work too. That might be what's giving you trouble. Forgot to mention it before That idea about your character learning or changing in gameplay to reflect their arc is really interesting. I actually had something kind of like that in mind in a Dead Kings video I did recently where Arno is just so cynical and done with fighting even remotely fair, so he's just as brutally efficient as possible. Maybe Eivor's loadout and tactics can become more Assassin-like as she gets closer to Basim and Hytham. This the type of stuff we like to think about with style and choreography
@@icarusgaming6269 I think after some testing, I might not actually end up using much of the bow in my Valhalla movie. I don't think seeing the weak points highlighted looks good from a cinematic perspective, so I think I'd rather keep that to a minimum. While I currently have a dot attached to my screen while I was testing using the game that way, I think I'd probably rather switch it to auto aim and keep bow use to a minimum. If I'm going to use a bow, I think I'd rather have the ability to quickly hit the target and disengage the bow, rather than focusing on hitting the weak points. Sometimes what looks good in normal gameplay doesn't always work as well for a movie version, although I appreciate the suggestions :)
