- Noisey presents a new documentary from Kurupt FM.
Today is the day the music world has been waiting for. Finally, you can hear Kurupt FM’s legendary ‘Lost Tape’ for the first time.
Having already made history by single-handedly bringing back UK Garage, Kurupt FM have decided to do it again with the greatest mix ever recorded - according to them.
The legendary ‘Lost Tape’ set was broadcast live on Kurupt FM 108.9 and was recorded onto cassette tape by an anonymous listener. Once lost in a backpack in deepest Brentford, the Lost Tape has now been uncovered, remixed and mastered for the very first time.
It only seemed right to couple the release of the legendary tape with a documentary from legendary filmmaker Ewen Spencer, featuring Mike Skinner, Rodigan, P Money, Scott Garcia and Sticky. Known for his scene-defining piece ‘Brandy & Coke’ and having previously worked with the likes of The Streets and Massive Attack, Ewen Spencer had the privilege to take his art to the next level with the honour of documenting the legend of the Lost Tape.

Apart from actually running a pirate radio station. Me and my friends were similar to these guys in the early nineties. With decks and Mc ing . But the music was early hardcore rave. It’s a good show. Steve’s is my favourite character. Bless up.

@@RassionellMaddman I have never really listened to what they are saying properly. Your not wrong they are lowlifes who must be based on the worst people they know or could think of. Me and my friends all met at college on day release. The way they talk to each other and the exaggerated view of their lives is pretty accurate for many young guys of that age. I thought it was part of the joke that they think they are big time criminals but in reality are not even petty criminals. I’m from the north of England so they sound quite posh and educated to me. I thought the joke was that they think they are ghetto but are more middle class suburban kids. The writing is good .

And sometimes youd be in a friends car and realise they have the same tape as you but in better quality so youd switch it out with yours when you could 😂😂
Cassettes, boomboxes and videocams will become a thing again in 2025. We're all bevoming jaded of Spotify. No one entity can assume control of all music.

Jungle and Drum & Bass existed before UK Garage and UK Garage changed because of the Drum & Bass scene making tracks like 138 Trek (by Zinc).

@@Nainocard It's true that Zinc brought the breakbeat element which was a game changer. Bingo Beats flipped the script. DJ Zinc was a DNB pioneer but a lot of Jungle producers, DJs and MCs crossed over to UKG in the late 90s because they couldn't make it in the DNB scene. Big up!!

Peep show and pjdn are the best two British pure gold comedy ever to be made.

Delight FM was a sick station!! It wasn't popular in North or East London but had a massive following in South and West London. DJ Swiss was a sick DJ and the man can MC/rap. Also DJ Dub Plate Mex of So Solid. We have a few of their sets. Big up!!
