This was on the radio when we got into the car to go to the hospital on march 3, 1974..my father was taken to the emergency room where he passed away. I still sing it today.
As a kid it blew my mind that the Lord's Prayer was a hit on the radio. Very catchy song. My first real exposure to the prayer. A few years ago I found the 45 rpm record in good condition at an antique store and bought it. Playing it was very nostalgic.
My friends and I used to sing this everytime we left bible study (Catholic Church basement). Yes, years ago the Catholics actually had bible study for kids. They gave us chocolate and we learned about God/Jesus. I miss those innocent days.
I remember singing this in chorus as a kid. In public school! It popped into my head today. So here I am. If i weren't for Jesus Christ Superstar, this would probably not have been recorded or even on mainstream radio.
I have a odd memory for music. This tune randomly played in head after 40 plus years. I now play it parties. You'd be surprised people start getting into it.
Love this beautiful song with God's powerful message . I remember listening to this when I was a 12-year-old in the 70s. It was very popular on the radio! God bless us all ❤
Hi Janet, i never stop listening to your beautiful lords prayer, I'm praying for all the Olympians in Paris worldwide. May they know that they are already the world champions who we cherish no matter what!
I woke up from my nightly sleep with this song on my mind a few days ago. I don't know why. I haven't heard or thought of this song in decades. I remember singing this song in grade school in the 1970s. Thank you for posting.
What a beautiful memory. This touches my heart. I played this over and over as a young girl. I also sang this to my kids every night at bedtime after we said our prayers.
I have recently begun repeating the Lord's Prayer during stressful moments, while waking up, when lying down at night. I had never heard this version. Thank you for sharing. (It's not my favorite version, but it's cool that this all female group put together a creative, quicker, uplifting song. )
I had completely forgotten about this song until now when I saw it on a video of songs from 1974. I haven't heard it in over 40 years but remember it now. Nice to hear it again after so long.
I was on my way to a bike race and was starting to get into my destruction to others mood, then I hear this and lost the bad ass mood and later the bike race, great song
I remember her and this song I was about 12 when I heard her, I remember she had another song that became kind of popular but I do not remember what it was
God does have the whole world in his hands. Have to be me to be able to see how much that's true. I almost feel like I'm cold in outer space but that's the way it is.
I went to Catholic school in the US and am pretty sure I never heard this tune at that time. There was definitely in my grammar school at the time, which was Sisters of Saint Joseph, a move to incorporate modern/rock music in some part of the curriculum. I can only guess that this tune may have been superseded by Godspell and Jesus Christ Superstar in my case I heard this tune on an oldies station a couple days ago, while driving, and noticed the tune and then the words, in that order. Absolutely excellent on all fronts. Sister Janet Mead was an amazing person, as were very many of the Sisters of that era. May eternal rest shine upon her
Whos rockin' along in 2024 with sister janett . Your a legend . Still drop in everh now & then . Not alaways this same video ❤❤❤ sydney Australia 🦘 🦘🦘 16/2/2024😂
When it comes to singing for God ,we must remember that the music also must be Christ-centered and celestial God-glorifying in essence. It is still JUST a pop song. Today the same is being done to attract more youth to the churches, so the music is anywhere from pop to heavy metal. Because they mention God The Father or Jesus Christ DOES NOT mean it is celestial God-glorifying in essence.
Pretty sure God's not giving people demerits for the style of music they choose to use to praise Him. You must have hated the Sister Act movies too and you most definitely must be a blast at parties. So easy-going and non-judgmental. Who died and left you in charge?
Hi Betty I can only speak my truth in regards to your statement. one of the members of DC Talk made a song back in 2000 and God spoke to me through that song. I didn't have a relationship with God other than God help me. He used that song to reach me, to save me. I gave my life to Him that day and was forever changed. He was listening to my cries all through the dark times. I'll forever be grateful for that day I was listening to music to get through my traffic morning and came to this song..I immediately felt the Holy Spirits presence.... it was undeniable. Those lyrics flowing were my answers. That station was callled K-Love radio. I have never heard of it before. Two years later I ended moving to a city and found a job at a company called EMF Broadcasting. I had no idea it was the headquarters to K-Love. I've since prayed for my children and husband and through my relationship with Christ my family all have a strong faith.
I am not catholic and have several disagreements with some of their theology. But I'm not G-d and I can't see in someone's heart. How anyone can criticize Sister Janet Mead for her recording of The Lord's Prayer is beyond me. This is my channel and I chose to upload this song. I welcome everyone's opinion as long as it's respectful. I may not agree with your opinion but we all have the right to think however we choose. The debate of whether or not any particular Christian song is "Godly" has raged on for many years. Certainly the early Jesus music artists and bands were criticized by the traditional church for being "wordly". While I do have issues with some of the modern day Christian songs it's not my place to pass judgement. I listen to what I choose to listen to and leave the rest alone.
'Creo que la vida es una unidad y, por lo tanto, no está dividida en compartimentos', escribió. 'Eso significa que la adoración, la música, la recreación, el trabajo y todas las demás 'pequeñas cajas' de nuestras vidas son realmente inseparables, y es por eso que creo que a las personas se les debe dar la oportunidad de adorar a Dios con el lenguaje y la música que es parte de su vida ordinaria'. Not my words but Sister Jane’s… and I totally agree!!!

Hi Gayle: hearing comments like yours is like having a front-row seat to what God is doing
I never would have been able to recite the Lord's prayer if it weren't for this song
I would have...cause if I didn't...I would get hit
Excellent
Really?
best comment yet seabreeze. whatever it takes!😀
Back in 74 they played this lovely rendition on public radio! How society has regressed!
Thank God they don’t play trash on the radio anymore. I’m sure this made Jesus’s ears bleed too
Government control. Mind control.

I have the 45, somewhere in the house!
I just heard this on some random radio channel this week.

This was all over the radio when I was in the 10th grade.
Beautiful voice. Sister is now in Heaven singing for God.
Yes
My friends and I used to sing this everytime we left bible study (Catholic Church basement). Yes, years ago the Catholics actually had bible study for kids. They gave us chocolate and we learned about God/Jesus. I miss those innocent days.
Catechism every Saturday. 7 weeks before my first holy communion
I sing this every Sunday in honor of my dad, who passed in January 2002. When I'm done I look upward and say, "That was for you, dad!"
I remember singing this in chorus as a kid. In public school! It popped into my head today. So here I am. If i weren't for Jesus Christ Superstar, this would probably not have been recorded or even on mainstream radio.

I can listen to this forever. Thank you Sister Janet Mead

I remember my whole family belting this out in the car when it would come on the radio!
Sang this in 8th grade back in 1975. I hope I can see and hear her again singing this before God's throne.
I loved this when I first heard it as a kid and that song has stuck with me since. I sing it to my grandbaby now 😊
I woke up from my nightly sleep with this song on my mind a few days ago. I don't know why. I haven't heard or thought of this song in decades. I remember singing this song in grade school in the 1970s. Thank you for posting.
It just now popped into my mind out of nowhere. Also hadn't thought of or heard it in years. Uplifting song 🎵
I had the 45, for some reason. This was Schoolhouse Rock for church kids.
Great song, still love listening to it all these years later!
I heard this at 16 in 74 and it blew me away ❤
Rest in peace sister janet mead, God bless you.
THANK You SISTER LOVE
She is a very beautiful soul inside and out. Cool Lord's prayer.
Love this Song❤️❤️
Amazing that she missed out on a Grammy only to Elvis who also recorded amazing gospel music. Full credit to her!
She was good but elvis was elvis he deserved it god rest them both
What a beautiful memory. This touches my heart. I played this over and over as a young girl. I also sang this to my kids every night at bedtime after we said our prayers.
I remember this song as I was on the eve of adulthood. Brings back many memories. 😊
Sister Janet Mead does a wonderful job with this prayer.
A number 4 hit on the Billboard Pop Chart (Hot 100); it would never fly today. What does this say about us? In 1974 the world was a better place.
its not that good....even at 1974 standards...
Kinda like Amy Grant, Jars of Clay, Avalon, and Carrie Underwood “never flew today?” Please take your pity party elsewhere, brother. 🙄
Our world is turning into a cesspool. We are in a downward spiral. There is a narrow straight way but many don't want anything to do with it.
I have always loved this. RIP Sister Janet Mead.
RIP Sister Janet Mead! 🙏✌💖
R.I.P.
Even the nuns rocked in the 70s!
I always loved her version of the lords prayer RIP
I would've never guessed that this was done by a Catholic sister. I loved hearing this as a 9th grader. It brings back memories.
Heard this BEAUTIFUL Lords Prayer sung by The beautiful sister, I was 13 then, this song was my Refuge, my comfort, My Peace My tranq
Same here!
I was also 13 and enjoyed hearing this.
May God have Mercy on her! Memory Eternal!

Congratulations
The original Sister Act! No doubt, a memorial rendition of the Lord's Prayer.
That's real Rock n roll
For a nun, she was really far out for that time! R.I.P. Sister Mead
Rest in Peace Sister.
I'm old enough to remember hearing this on the radio when it was new.
I hear you. I was 17 when this came out, and actually had this 45 in my collection.
I remember singing this in church!
I don’t remember ever hearing this as a kid growing up in the 70s. what a great rendition. thank you sister. may you rest in peace
I barely remember this (song). I love this. This would be great for our church to use on Sunday.
Heard this on xm radio this morning and I thought it was a joke. Nope it’s real and amazing
It was actually quite a popular when it was released. I was in Jr. High then.
Yeah I heard this on xm this morning too. I don’t think I have heard this since I was a litt kid age 7 at the time
Xm radio brought me here. This song came on and everybody in the house started looking around like freaking out.
Thank you Sister. Beautiful version. ✨💖🌹✨

This is exactly how I would expect a Christian song to sound in the 1970's.
may she be with the Lord
I used to have this on 48.
Great
groovy!
Just want to thank you for all the awesome music you upload...quite an education in awesome early Christian music...thanks again
i can get Amazon Alexa to play the 1983 version... which isn't even mentioned in the song's Wikipedia page. Weird in both cases. Both versions cool!

How far our Christian country has faded. This song / prayer would never be allowed on secular radio today
Im in Canada, and I found this song through a local radio station a week a go...
👏
I wonder where I can gey ot stream the entire album.
You dont hear this on the radio anymore it should be played on the radio
When you start using punctuation, God will see to it. He hates people who write like 3rd graders.
Should be sang in mass.
❤️🇺🇲☺️✡️✝️

My mother wouldn't let me buy the 45 because she thought it was blasphemous.
1970s guitar Catholic masses sounding like Rockin rollish.
OMG, they replaced the Latin Mass with this?!?!?!
My father for the past 50 years has humoursly called this the "anthem of Vatican II" lol 😂
This is wonderful indeed. Peace 🙌
@@richardferrara3884 No, I think you misunderstand. This is horrible compared to the beauty of the Latin Mass.
