@@magmasunburst9331 thank you.. I wish I had something. In the 70s no one thought of grabbing their ‘ phone’ ( because we didn’t have them!😇) or the likes. Just school ‘ standard’ photos.. Janet was a strict teacher - but a heart of pure gold. My Physcologist ( who knew her too, we worked out)& I were going to visit her early this year.. she was working with the homeless,then.. she left us for her special place with the maker. Weeks after our intended visit. I still have my report card. I always have memories. Thank you for your reply Magma.🎶🌻🎶🌻
A musical based on Sister Janet Meads songs would be fantastic. Maybe world premier at the 2024 Adelaide Festival. Its ironic with her work with children that the new Adelaide children's hospital is going to be built next to where she lived. Should be called the Sister Janet Mead Childrens Hospital.
Wow, even Sister Janet Mead (R.I.P 1938 - 2022 ) got a budget sounds-like Lp, I dig the fuzzed out version of Norman Greenbaum's Spirit in the Sky. I note this was performed by the "Brothers and Sisters" on the kids label "Peter Pan", thanks for uploading the LP.
Fantastic stuff! This is a lost classic. I recommend that all interested might Wiki Janet Mead and also check out the contemporaneous video of "The Lords Prayer" which was filmed at the girl's school she taught at. As an aside, the music for the prayer was written by a young teenager named Arnold Strahl - a co-credit with Jesus! Janet was a fantastic woman, a friend of my family's, and taught several thousand young musicians in her life time. The grunge guitar at the beginning was ALL Arnold (a real cool cat) and the young girl playing the drums in the video is Clare Moore (Wiki her too...) Many thanks for the upload!
Paul Thesurfer, Thanks a mil Paul for these interesting info', love how Sister Janet Mead renders the Lord's Prayer, first heard it growing up in se Utah, never really go around to buying this COOL record, gonna google it, maybe its still available but in cd? Just searched sister janet mead and normally this is one of the top 3 results, but it wasn't there. Was scared it was removed. I scrolled down and it was like the 10th result. Scared me😂😂😂
TY, seems like the demo or just before the common one available. I think it was a top 100 hit for the "let it be" era of songs...many semi religious hits.
Xian psych is the genre name of Christian music from the '60s and '70s that was truly innovative and artistic. There's a 250 song playlist on my account here.
This is a very interesting album that I didn't know existed. Yet, while it was a pleasant surprise to learn that Sister Janet Mead was singing, "My Sweet Lord" . . . I have to admit that I was shocked to hear the backing vocal lyrics of, "Hare Krishna" and "Hare Rama", as was done in the original 1970 recording by George Harrison. I thought surely that would have been changed for the specific purpose of not acknowledging praise to what the Catholic faith would be mandated to call, "a false god." ~ AND THAT IS BIZARRE.
@@magmasunburst9331 True . . . By the way, thanks for posting this album. I was only 9 years old in 1973 when "The Lord's Prayer" was played on the radio. I bought the 45 and it was always one of my favorite records!

Paul Thesurfer, Now if only Sister Janet would do a religious version of that 60s song "My Guy" obviously turned into "My God", like the version in Sister Act with Whoopi Goldberg! :)
Is this later versionil or a live one. She does Spirit in the Sky? I never knew she made a career of singing. My family just had Lord's Prayer on 45. And her voice is awesome. I can tell she seems a bit older or something than 45.

So I particularly enjoyed #wayfaringstranger - that one means so very much especially as I have read #damascus by #christostsiolkas [Greek-Australian author who wrote #barracuda and #theslap - both of which are on telly as well as in books]. It makes me think of the first-century Christians. #mysweetlord makes it very very contemporary for the 1970s and the #jesusmovement and other democratisations of Christianity which were going on [and also Prebysterianism + Methodism = #theunitingchurchinaustralia / #uniting ].
