PLS HELP on the rear diff is on the top one small hose , I dont know for what is this hose? I find the other end hanging near by carburator. Its only for overflow or must be somewhere pluged in? thanks
@@SchnebsGarage mine is a 03 kodiak 400 .....I just looked it up and apparently yamaha ran rear disc breaks from 00-02 then switch to drums from 03-04 then back to disc 05-06 ......makes zero sense
Your the only video on RUclips that goes through rear brake replacement. Thanks. However I accidentally loosened the hydraulic line on caliper and lost pressure and now can’t seem to locate the master cylinder. If it’s the same as front cylinder I would be shocked. Can you assist?
Be very careful loosening the bleeder screws, they break easy. Dont be afraid to add a little heat with a propane torch, being careful not to make it too hot or you can melt the brake line and rubber seals.
Should be located on the right side, back and above the rear brake pedal. You'll have to remove the plastic covers on that side, its just a small white plastic tank holds only a couple table spoons of fluid. Just follow the line up you cant miss it.
Thank you for this clear explanation !
Glad it was helpful!
Please keep the kodiak stuff coming. Been needing to dig in on mine

The hose coming off the rear diff is just a breather
I just changed my first belt. A million miles all hard, best machine I I’ve owned. Can’t bleed rear brakes, can’t get fluid to the rear at all. Ideas
Have you tried a vacuum pump? Might help to get the juices flowing.
same issue please let me know if you found a fix a year later lol
Strange my 03 has rear break shoes and according to Google they didn't get rear disc breaks until 05 but yours is a 01?
Yes this is an 01, been in the family since new.
Is yours a Kodiak or a Big Bear...Im pretty sure the Big Bears kept drum brakes on the back well into the 2000's.

Disregard. Looked at previous comments. I’m going to look again today
:)
It just one break in the back ?
2 pads, if thats what you mean.
Can get my brake pads to tighten up on rotors now.. did everything like video EXCEPT I took brake line apart from caliper
You have air in the lines, you will have to bleed the brakes.

cant find the break fluid tank for back brakes

Under from rack. Left looking at machine.
Front
You definitely need to do better job of maintenance, you should replace the brake fluid as well, the 2 pins require blue loc tight
