Nice catch on the accelerator pump, it’s amazing what little blockages can do a carburetor. Looking forward to you have coming up next.
    Thanks,
    Tim

Thank you for another awesome video. Man I really love to hear those engines purr like that!

👍👍👍👍Man she is sounding PURRRDY . That a little adjustment to float to allow more fuel and cleaning one tiny hole made all the difference. But kinda makes ya wonder if thats why the float was dented in someone dented it instead of adjusting it 🤷‍♂️.. Cant wait to see what ya got in store for it .. As far as what tools any one uses doesn’t matter is how ya use them what counts as for me i have used a cheap set in my boat for 10+ years cause sometimes when working on boat in river tools got dropped or knocked off in the water and instead of buying one wrench for $20-$50 I get two for $10-$15 👍👍👍👍Awesome drone footage. As always Sir thanks for the ride along

Hey, thanks for watching and commenting. You are right about the dropping in the water and I don't have enough money to be dropping Snap Ons in the water.

I have used wire brush wires to clean ports before. I've also found that guitar strings work great.

It's called the "Snake bit Squirt" I love it! Great RMD catch phase. Does that boat have the OMC "Cobra" marine engine? ;-)

Dialamic! I love it. I hear that (Dialamic 50) is good for the joints of the mechanical linkage on "Old" carburetors. ;-) Note the little winky face means I am being sarcastic. for the readers uninitiated, to my comments.

Or perhaps you were referring to though, laminar flows of the two-barrel carb.

I have not used oil but have been using a small amount of grease on my gaskets for years for the same reason, allows you to pull a carb apart for a cleaning and not have to worry about getting new gaskets

I've always oiled my gaskets. Something I learned back in the day when I was just a pup from my grandpa. It's always worked like a charm and even tends to extend the life of the gasket. My old 1976 Mercruiser 165 straight six like what's in your Cobalt falls flat on its face if I hit it too hard from idle. I have to roll on the throttle to about 1500 rpm before I can hammer down. Otherwise she runs like a champ. I wonder if a plugged up carb my issue.

Here’s a weird thing. My accelerator pump squirts when you pull the throttle lever back!!!! Finally I took it apart and found that the tiny aluminum check ball was seized in its seat. I’m not sure if this is the problem I had the first time out that prevented me from getting above 1100 rpm under load. Spoiled my maiden voyage. I wasn’t trying to do a hole shot.
    Anywho, I’m doing a rebuild.
I did everything else on the engine except carb rebuild.
    Any advice chime in.

    Hey Michael
Might want to run some 10W30 diesel oil to clean out that engine. Sounds great.

I have been running Rotella SAE 30 diesel and it's doing a great job cleaning it out.

I will give GM props on their vintage blocks. All standard SAE hand tools. Split rear main seal. Especially those inlines. I'm a Honda convert these days because they design most stuff for ease of maintenance.

I say that guy was exzagurating a bit how could you be using moderiot presure on a wrench and have it brake and fly far enough to hit you in the eye or above or below the eye. i have never seen a wrench break like a pice of glass and fly through the air using moderit prusher. was he using his foot or maybe a pipe over the wrech.. Thats a crazy storey

It is running good To bad the boat could be put on the water one more time so you can give it a good run on the motor and the out drive before you removed it all from the boat not only that it would have saved some $$ on water
