      @@MomoTTV It's just "Gnosticism", gnostic theology rejects the principles of Christianity by denying what Christ is to follow neoplatonic ideas. This scene will forever baffle me. Is the dude preaching Jesus, or is chaos Jesus? If the latter, the game suggests that Jesus (chaos) learned from another and the man preaching is, perhaps, John the Baptist. This for me works logically, as the Bible expresses that Jesus did feel some sort of despair after the baptist's execution, which would explain the next scene of Mary pleading with chaos.

    • @Helsionium
      @Helsionium  6 лет назад +42

      I have absolutely no doubt that the preaching man is supposed to be Jesus (they call him the Messiah, after all) - and chaos one of his disciples (I don't think it's just a coincidence that there are exactly 12 people listening to the Messiah). What's dubious is how this is supposed to fit in with the gospels. Maybe the game presumes that the gospels were wrong about the identity of the twelve disciples. For example, Mary Magdalene was not one of the twelve disciples in any canonical Gospel, but in this game, she is definitely one of them. The game even references Rennes-le-Château, a real-world location that is connected to theories that Mary Magdalene was one of the disciples, or even the wife of Jesus.

    • @RealRapForya
      @RealRapForya 6 лет назад +8

      Helsionium great reply. My only question then is, why is chaos called Yeshua?

    • @Helsionium
      @Helsionium  6 лет назад +26

      I don't know about the name... It's actually "Yehoshua" in the original Japanese version, but that too is just another form of "Jesus". I remember reading about a theory that chaos was actually the one who worked Jesus' miracles and people eventually started to mix up or conflate their identities because of the similar (or identical) names. Don't remember if there's anything in the game to support this theory, though.

    • @soarel325
      @soarel325 6 лет назад +20

      From what I remember, Jesus is two people who worked together and were remembered as one person in the Xenosaga universe. Jesus did the preaching and chaos/Yeshua did the miracles. It's kinda like Hjalti and Wulfharth if you're familiar with Elder Scrolls.

    I have a question about this games, the xeno games in general. Are this games antichristian or somewhat disrespectful to God?
    Because people have told me they are great games but I'm doubting, since one of the things I saw was the mary magdalene's corpse being transformed into an android with revealing clothing.

    • @Helsionium
      @Helsionium  Год назад +12

      Not specifically antichristian or "disrespectful to God". But they are broadly based on the religion or religious school of Gnosticism which holds some views contrary to mainstream Christianity. Evil "deities" always turn out to be false gods, defeated by or with the assistance of the "true God". Like in many Japanese games, religious organisations are typically portrayed as evil because they are used by a corrupt leadership to control the masses or push another agenda. Genuine religious and spiritual belief is portrayed as something positive, though. If you're sensitive to that kind of thing, you probably shouldn't play these games.
      But that's just the general idea. Xenosaga directly references Christianity, especially the Catholic Church. Xenogears and Xenoblade don't do that and real-world religions don't have any role in their stories, so there's a much lower chance they could be considered offensive.

    • @Sherkel
      @Sherkel 6 месяцев назад +1

      Xeno is the NUMBER ONE hope for passing on religious values both to this generation and past this generation. Every protagonist ultimately emerges triumphant not because they were stronger than the rest, not even because they were "better people", but because they had faith. They quite literally spread their faith too, by leading by example with good deeds and surprising everyone with their justification of why. I don't know what organized sect you might belong to, but I think you'd find it both personally enriching and a strong vindication of God's benevolence.

      @@pasalasagaFrankly i think that Xeno is more Nieztchean and Pro-Spirituality but not much for religion.
      Mainstream Christianity is literally a false religion on Xenosaga and Jesus is just a normal dude that preaches the words of God and uses the powers of Anima/Animus to perform miracles, Lemegeton is the name used for the word of God in this universe and Lemegeton is actually the name of the "Lesser Key of Solomon" a book about summoning demons.
      Xenosaga has a more Christian-Gnostic word, God (Or U-DO) is not necessarily evil but he's also not pure good he's a neutral deity and the Catholic Church is the villain team of the game with the big villain being their leader behind the screens and Pope being the final boss of Xenosaga 2
      In Xenogears the good church worships Sophia (Knowledge) which is a Gnosticism thing
      In Xenoblade you have less directly Christian references(especially in the localization that switched things to Greek symbolism), the evil god is actually a scientist that recreated the universe with an experiment and messed up with everything splitting his personality into two for two different worlds, in one of them he's evil in the other one he's good and Xenoblade 3 doesn't really get into religion.
      Xenoblade 2's main villain is Logos (Malos) which is one of the Aegis(in JP the Holy Grail) but with Amalthus/Marubeni as his driver and he's another evil Pope that is a bit of an Anti-Christ figure.

    Now I used to play this game when I was a kid and of course I never realized the Christian Symbolism that they added into the franchise. I like the fact that they added Christian Symbolism into the game but I must say adding in mythology that contradicts Biblical Scripture is something that can not be tolerated. Yes the author who wrote the Xenosaga story has my gratitude for showing the audience Christian Symbolism but adding his own mythology into The Word Of God is not right, if that was his intention which it does look like it to me in my perspective 1 Timonthy 4:7-16. We are stay away from mythology when we are presenting the gospel to the public and we are not to add to the word or take away from it, Deuteronomy 4:2 and Revelation 22:18-19. I don't know what was the intention of adding Chaos into the scene of Jesus Christ but I'm must say if it's for the mythology of the game rather than for presenting Jesus Christ and his teachings so that the public may learn who he is and why he came to the world for; then that is a problem and unacceptable. So I hope that the author of the game have a good intention for showing Jesus Christ in the game and not a bad intention. If anyone knows why the author/game maker added Jesus Christ into the game then feel free to let me know.
