Orville C. Wright, Jr. This is my first hearing of Sviatoslav Richter performing Brahms Op. 119. As with many of Richter's incredible performances, superlatives elude my attempts to describe how much I like this music and appreciate the post. Thank you.

Incredible playing. A deeper insight in Brahms' s soul is hardly possible.

I would suggest listening to the performances of Op. 119 by Radu Lupu and Murray Perahia, both available on RUclips. They are certainly the equal of Sviatoslav Richter's performance and each offers unique insights into these wonderful late pieces. IMHO, Richter's pace in No 4 (Rhapsody in E-flat minor) is much to fast and hurried. By comparison, Radu Lupu plays this at a less frenzied pace with a greater sense of drama and mystery. Nevertheless, too much of a good thing is never enough. 😊

    --- А. С. ПУШКИН.

Cough away, today people have cell phones that ring away merrily throughout the performances. Three times recently by Sokolov in Berlin during the first twenty minutes, ditto a couple of weeks later at Volodos. He nearly got up and walked out.

The E-flat Rhapsody is played like he is late for dinner. Virtuosic, no doubt, but....

That audience member is lucky Bugs Bunny wasn't the pianist.
Although, Richter is a slightly better pianist than Bugs.
