Monkeys in Da Nang

At the end of the Hoang Sa highway, at Son Tra Mountain, we found a few of these Macaque monkeys. We thought/ hoped that they were the rare "red-shanked douc," which we had read about, and are endangered (about 2000 left, and about 10% in Son Tra) but they were more common primates. The douc lemurs live in the tree canopies up there, and it takes luck--and effort-- to find them. These Macaques, which we have found many places in Asia, were quite tame and especially friendly. Our quest to find the red-shanked lemurs will continue!
