@@legendsboxing3330 bro, please understand, don't spoil your explanation with unnecessary background music. We want to listen to your words. Not music.
I like your numbering system, the gym I went to was different, here were the numbers.
1. Jab
2. Cross
3 left hook head
4 right hook head
5 left hook body
6 right hook body
7 left upper
8 right upper
9 overhand left
10 overhand right
I know there isn’t a standard and many coaches have their variances
My coach taught on 1-6. 7 & 8 was consider variation of 1-2 with a step
1.Jab
2.cross
3.left H
4. Right uppercut
5. Left Upper
6. Right Hook
I was always taught 10 at every gym I've trained at over the past 20 years.. Same pattern as you.
overhand left?
@@ineedanewaccount2310 yeeyee. Turn your rear foot and slip your head offline to the left the way you’d slip a cross and then bring your left across your body but bring it over the top instead of throwing a hook/uppercut. Not a punch you’d throw out of base stance only something you’d do off a slip or some kind of head movement where your body is turned.
@@jdw5706 i aint using that tho ima get uppercut in the face
those are some huge gloves
There’s only two sizes...
Tyler Simmons professionals use 10 oz in pro matches but for training/padwork/heavy bag/sparring they use 14oz or 16oz and sometimes 12oz
JawlessAyla Play’s no there’s 10 12 14 16 and that’s not even all
@Adrian no shit Sherlock
I think he wants to keep his fingers
Nearly every gym, coach or trainer have modified or tailored the combo code system to their personal preference and ease of use. I usually use the 1-6 system, however when I went for my boxing coaching certification, the instructor used jab, cross, lead/rear hook and uppercut, which shouldn't confuse southpaws (I'm naturally an orthodox but can go southpaw due to hand injury. However when training MMA, kickboxing etc we use a numbered combo system which can be adapted to what you're training.
1: jab
2: jab-cross
3: jab-cross-hook
4: jab-cross-hook-cross
5: cross-hook
6: hook-cross
Different attacks or defences can be added to every combo such as kick, knee, slip etc.
Eg. 3-kick would be jab-cross-hook + kick
Even numbered combos would be a switch kick
Throw all of the punches 1 through 8 as a recap in the end
Thank you because I'm just starting in boxing and I'm loving it. This really helped me. For those that don't really know about boxing, it's a really great exercise for disabled people too. My husband is in the Rock Steady program for parkinson's patients and it's helped him a lot. It's helped him more than all the physical therapy that he has taken.
Don't get me wrong PT is good, but boxing have been so much better for my husband. I saw how much others enjoy it at the gym. I decided I want to box and I'm loving it.
Lane BT I’m a volunteer for Rock Steady. Great program and absolutely wonderful therapy for the boxers.
thats awesome
Are you still going in boxing?
Am i the only one who is waiting for the combination of all of these punches
Yeah these are not the numbers used at most gyms.
For Ortho:
1 L jab
2 R cross
3 L hook
4 R hook
5 L upper
6 R upper
7 L overhand*
8 R overhand*
Ppl might disagree with the names slightly depending on if it's the front or back foot but you get the general idea
*EDIT: 7/8 varies a bit but 1-6 are pretty standard. It's pretty common for 7/8 to be body shots e.g., 7 is a shovel hook. at my gym if we wanted body shots, we'd call the number and then the position of the mitt indicated a body shot. So you could have a jab or cross to the body by calling 1 or 2 and holding the mitt low. Helped the fighter focus on targeting areas rather than just throwing mindlessly because he hears a number.
Shovel hook 7 over hand 8 ?
I use the same #s as you
Yeah I think he switched the 4 and the 8
and some consider 7= L body hook / 8= R body hook
@@mosabri9124 yeah this is more common I think, I never had a trainner drill an overhand on the pads
1- jab
2- cross
3- hook
4- uppercut
5- uppercut
6- over hand
7 overhand
8- hook
great vid
Great content for mere armchair fans like myself as well as you guys who have the balls to get in the ring. Thanks for the upload.
Don't worry about the haters. This isn't my number system but I've seen different variations. Thanks for sharing
I agree. No reason to hate on it. But I can definitely be critical. He had no bladed stance to show his handedness, among other things.
Thanks for the boxing tips. My first group fitness boxing cert was Thomas the Promise wayyyy back in 1988. Always in search of ways to improve and be creative. Will use some of your tips in my online class tonight. (-: Stay safe.
Great examples of 1-8! Thank you!
How I learned:
1- jab
2- straight
3- lead hook
4- rear hook
5- lead uppercut
6- rear uppercut
7- lead shovel hook to the body
8- rear hook to the body
Same as my code
You learn correct way I don't know what this guys talking about. Everyone has their own style I guess. Seems like these days only the 1 + 2 is universal
@@PhysicalTerrorist1 7,8, is different because I'm trained these are lower body jab punches not overhands 9, and 10 are hooks too the waist an Kidney possible even hitting the theigh but all trainings differen!
Thank you for the straightforward instruction. I like learning the numbers process and strategy.
Wow thanks so much! I liked and subscribed and Im just getting started in boxing so this really helped me!
Thanks man, this helped me beat some bullies older than me like 3 years and i beat them to blood, they have been bullying me for 2 years and i started to learn boxing at home so i can fight ppl myself thank u so much
Concise, Mate. Thank you
Matt Higgins
Great video mate. Thanks for the help
Yeah, let's not use one numbering system. Let's invent thousands of systems! That'll get everybody confused!
Atti Ylänen Fr idk where they got this
This is just the way he was taught. The point is that your learning how to throw combinations. The numbers aren’t all gonna be the same, but the technique is.
Yeah, real shit. Since when is a 4 an uppercut?
@@cliiff2 Standards are common sense.
Just subscribed. Thank you for going slow and explaining. Enjoyed your video. 😀
wow there are so many negative comments on here. thanks for putting this content out - i found it helpful and liked your energy. i learned a different numbering sys from my first trainer and i never knew there were other numbers than what i originally learned - i thought that was standard! i appreciate you sharing this and hope you ignore the trolls on this thread who have no idea what theyre talking about! :) also, to everyone making comments about him not showing footwork - clearly that wasn't in the scope of what he wanted to cover. he's teaching you #s. if you want to learn footwork and full technique, you need a much more in-depth video on each one. he's giving a quick overview of HIS #s. everyone chill tf out!
Wow.....relax bro
@Mark Berenger neither was my comment loser. Go practice your combo numbers for your fastfood job. I'll take a #3 with no onions.
That's great Content 👌🥊.
Thanks 👍
I Like the different punch system. It’s very obvious many people don’t see that different gyms will change the system and order of the punches for competition purpose. If coach is shouting punches at you there is an advantage to the other team not being aware of what you are throwing.
Hey bud just wanted to say I really like this and I just subscribe I'm a huge fan of boxing I'm a huge fan of combat
I and always look for knowledge I've been practicing training whatever you want to call it since I've been 12 years old with my brother's and cousins we have almost every peace of equipment to train with heavy bags I have a Muay Thai bag double ended bag speed bag
And more and now with all the technology we have people can properly train from their home and it's because of trainers like you keep up the great work 👊
Different people use different numbering systems after 4. Some people don't think there are numbers after 4 or 5. I've always gone by;
1. Jab
2. Cross
3. Lead Hook
4. Rear Hook
5. Lead Uppercut
6. Rear Uppercut
After that it gets more debatable.
Thank you for that information that was very inspiring.
Good man. Thanks for this video!
thanks using this in creed and maybe in real life in self defense
Was watching Dead Meat channel and all I’m seeing is James giving punching lessons after giving a kill count from a movie. Lol, no matter though, the tips help. Thanks and be well to all.
Great explanation dude best video ever
Thanks Great video dude
Odd numbers: for left hand(southpaw)
Even numbers: for right hand(orthodox)
I changed them just for me cuz ots easier
1- jab
2- cross hook
3-lead hook
4-rear hook
5-lead uppercut
6-rear uppercut
7-lead overhand
8-rear overhand
This was really really helpful. Be great to see footwork as well but this really helped.
Bravissimo. Grazie. Continua, molto utile.
Fantastic video!!!
Great video thx ❤
Thank you for your video😜
Great video! What kind of boxing gloves are you using?
I get that everyone does it different, but the way Legends does it seems to create a spatial mixup at the 3 and 4. They way I learned (and it seems most people did, too) is that even/odd pairs are similar punches. Like this:
1- jab
2- cross
3- lead hook
4- rear hook
5- lead uppercut
6- rear uppercut
7- shovel hook (typically thrown with your lead hand)
8- overhand (typically thrown with your rear hand)
Any punch in this list can be thrown at the head or the body without changing the number and they pair up well based on the type of punch and similar numbers. But whatever. Regardless of numbers, punching things is fun.
The 6 that I was taught was 1 jab 2 straight right 3 left hook 4 right hook 5 left uncut 6 right uppercut
combo i made, just messing around, looked cool for shadow boxing
1 - right - jab
2 - left - cross
1 - right - jab
2 - left - cross
3 - right - hook
4 - left - uppercut
7 - overhand
8 - right - body hook
Great quick breakdown in a short 5 minute video.
Nice video ... thank u for sharing ur techniques
That’s awesome!!
What's a heavy bag for boxing and kickboxing that you guys would recommend for at home training or training in general?
Also what else you you recommend for at home training? Do I need a mirror or a video camera to get my form/footwork down?
Thanks brother
Thanx ill use these on my teacher.
Love it!
Good stuff!
❤❤❤Great job
nice explanation. you have also a video how to practice on the bag to break the distance from a eg. 1-2-3 combo to avoid the power 2 beak the distance when the bag get moved;) from the punch
I’m confused as these seem different to other videos - others have his 8 as their 4. Which one is “official”?
This was super helpful
1. Jab
2. Cross
3. Lead Hook
4. Rear Hook
5. Lead Uppercut
6. Rear Uppercut
7. Left screw jab / bolo punch
8. Overhand right
One thing that helped my punches especially jabs and crosses is "your punch isnt done until your hand Is back in front of your face" now I thought this was my uncle trying to teach me how to keep my hands up but think of it like a whip it needs that pull back action for power same with jabs
THANK YOU SIR
Before anyone tears into this guy for sharing, know that there are Many differing number systems...most of us are familiar with the common ones..mine is listed below..Ive always liked it, it made sense to me and had a good flow and was also what many gyms were using so that when you work with new students, they are likely to be using something similiar so as a trainer, when i hold pads for people ,they dont have to learn some funky system to work with me... if anyone thinks this guys numbers are out there, take a look at tysons number system if u want ur brain frazzeled! very different.
Thanx man 👍
He's a good teacher
Amazing sir 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Yeah you need a punch numbering system. At some of these cardio boxing gyms they just call out the combo: jab, cross, hook, cross, rear upper cut which I find a lot more difficult to remember than 1,2, 3, 2, 4
Thank You!
Wonderful🎉❤dear coach
Sir,your footwork is not visible but the explanation was good. Thanks for the video.
So,do different gyms have different combos for the numbers because I saw one video where a guy did 1 through 6...jab,cross,hook,hook,uppercut,uppercut.
Yeah each gym is gonna have a slightly different way of doing things, it's the "sweet science" after all, and just like scientist every coaches method/approach to training is going to be a little bit different. The most common way I've seen 1-6 is the same jab, cross, hook, hook, uppercut, uppercut.
But I've also seen it where 4 was an uppercut and 6 was the hook, or in a couple of gyms I've seen them only teach the lead hook and then go to uppercuts and then the overhand right was 6 with no right hook at all.
So it really depends on your gyms coach, but the most common 1-6 is probably going to be the straits, hooks and uppercuts.
Thanks for the clip champ Your 8 would reflect my 10, also I 've heard you dont jab too the body with single punches but I've trained 7 left jab an 8 is right jab too the body as a orthodox fighter I learned that the over hand can be used my 9 is the lowest hook I can time and the 10 I'm not spilling
Thanks for the tips..I'd love to have one of the t-shirts also 1XL Black.
How do you stand. Is your right foot behind your left? How do you rotate your hip for punches on the left side?
Awesome!
1. Jab 2. cross 3. check hook 4. power hook 5. lead uppercut 6. rear uppercut 7. shovel jab 8. right overhand, that's my gyms numbers
Love it! It's interesting how each gym does it a little differently. :)
Thanks a lot
nice work thanks
Please make video on which exercise is usefull for make stamina and power of punch.
. Please as soon as you make the video
Burpees with single hand Pushups is enough, sets and reps depends on your fitness
Good jab
Thanks Man u helped me win a boxing battle
Very good thanks
Thank you
Thanks
Recommend u change it 1 jab 2 right. Cross 3 left hook to the head 4 right hook body shot 5 left hook body shot , 6 right uppercut , 7 left uppercut 8 right hook to the head ... these are combinations sequence used by the elites in boxing - overhand left and right can be ur 9 and 10
Thank you 😊
GREAT demonstrations, with descriptions..... #Subscribed
U trynna get pinned huh
@@saud12a70 what do that mean sir?
how i got taught was and also im a southpaw so opposite
1. right jab
2. left jab
3. right hook
4. left upper cut
5. right upper cut
6. left jab to the body
7. overhand left
8. left hook
O learn a lot thank you
Thanks bro
1(jab) 2(straight) are the two standard in almost every gym. the rest they put it in different order.
kim 1-2-3 are always standard.
Thx man
Thanks 😊
Best videoo
Theee gloves are hilarious 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Awesome
I learned the 8 that way: 1. jab 2. cross 3. head L hook 4. head R hook 5. body L hook 6. body R hook 7. L uppercut 8. R uppercut.
Yu right bro!! I was taught your 7&8 are your 5&6UpperCuts to the body & 7. Left Shovel Hook 8. Overhand Right.. Everybody Do different tho
I’d say this is the right way as each punch is right next (mirrored) from previous. so if 3 is left hook for orthodox stand, then 4 is the right hand (hook to the body or hook to the face, which is slow but hey).
This is the problem with standards...
there are too many
@@lemsx1 It should be the same numbers just different stance. Orthodox or Unorthodox.. Yu say 1 - 2...Left foot infront, Yu throwing Left - Right...Right foot infront, Yu throwing Right - Left..But it's Still 1 - 2
Yea,that is the right way...this makes it a little more complicated.3-4 are hooks it simply makes more sense than this.
Why does this guy say no right handed hook to the head at the end of the video??
thx bro
2 is best when thrown after using your angles and stepping forward. for example throw 1 to set up and step to side and forward with front foot then throw the 2 and rotate back foot turning body towards them and throw another jab continuously rotating around them with jabs and cross's. Maybe get inside for some hooks to there lungs and get out.
Nice punch guide
Thank you, that realy helps me and now i now i am doing everithing wrong.
even your spelling
Good content, I have one thing to critic you on. I find it hard since I'm a southapaw but that's alright. My issue tho is I can't see your leg positioning and your stand is wide. I can't see what leg is being what. Sorry
