  • In this video, I walk you through the challenging process of replacing the battery in a Nest Video Doorbell. After five years, the battery had weakened and could no longer hold a video stream when someone rang the bell. While replacement batteries are cheap and readily available on Amazon, the real challenge lies in the disassembly process.
The doorbell’s components are glued together, making the repair a real nightmare. I’ll show you how much cutting and careful work was needed to open it up. To add to the complexity, I discovered that the design had been modified-the original battery’s temperature sensor was glued directly to the battery, not the PCB. I decided to cut the sensor wires, and to my surprise, everything worked perfectly after reassembly!
    🔧 Repair Highlights:
Battery Replacement: Step-by-step process of removing the old battery and installing a new one to restore the doorbell’s functionality.
Disassembly Challenges: See the lengths I had to go to cut through the glued parts and access the internals without damaging critical components.
Sensor Modification: Learn how I dealt with the modified design by cutting the temperature sensor wires, ensuring the doorbell still works as expected.
    🎥 Final Results:
Restored Functionality: After reassembly, the doorbell works flawlessly, holding its video stream during rings and performing like new.

My battery just died after 6 years. Paid $6 for replacement battery and now it's back up and running. Thanks for the detailed video, it helped a ton.

Stupid, unserviceable design. Mine is intermittently blacking out and acting intermittent and probably has a bad battery. Not sure I want to fix it or buy another one either.
EDIT: Cracked the faceplate during removal anyway, and that part doesn't seem to be available anywhere.

pretty bad video, didn't show the most important part, and the voice is not clear, talked about lots of non-important part.

@@aaronmaynard698 it’s attached with a connector. If you read the text below video you may see that I just cut the sensor wires.

@@hifirulezzz I think that outer wrapping on the battery is a heater to keep it from freezing in the winter if you live somewhere that gets cold. But I believe there is a thermostat in the doorbell that only turns the heater on when it is cold enough.

@ well may be. Why not to use super capacitor? Design is so so.
