- Henry Cole visiited the Red Max Speed Shop in Hampshire for series 5 of the Motorbike Show and took up their offer to ride a Harley-Davidson Sportster powered custom cafe racer while he was there.
Would have loved to hear a bit more about that Sportster.
A nice reminder of why I love all things motorcycle...especially sunny day rides 😎. Let's hope for good things to come 🙏
What an awesome bunch of blokes. Loved hearing about their rides. Would like more.
God I miss riding out to pubs, and sunshine. Billy is an old sort ain't he! What fun.
More vids Henry, we need em.👍
Hi Henry, My dad had to hang up his helmet at 89 due to his knees going after 70 years in the saddle, i was born down the road from the BSA, in the late 60's i used to go over to the waste land across the road & see them across the river on their test track, dad likes watching your motorcycling runs, i myself are into 4 wheels collecting old 50's Baby Austins
What a fine collection of classic motorsickles........really sorry you got stuck riding a Sportster to it
Well that made me laugh and cheered me up. Thanks.
What an awesome video. Thanks!
Henry u lucky bastard u lol keep them coming matey
Top heavy .....a bit like diana dors .......but wot a lovely pair
thanks for the new upload👍👍👍👍
Pubs, bikes, sun, ride outs, arrrh memories
Four two stroke 125 cylinders wrapped around one (wide) crank pin. Radial 4 pot stroker would need a small blower for low speeds but four bangs per 360 degrees and zero vibration would be the dog’s bits.
Great vid love the bikes and the owners seem ok as well
Come down ter flowerpots more Henry! Might catch me on my hand built customs sometime this summer ✌
I live 5 minutes from Arlesford, never had a clue that place existed.
Any ideas what pub it was.
I think its called the pepperpot many friends of mine go there but i dont live in the UK anymore so could be wrong ........HI Billy still using that Easy rider quote then :)
The flowerpots cheriton
Shout out to Oakland CA! Also Fonzie's Triumph was found in Oakland a few years back.
With my dogey eye-sight if I built a bike the wheels would likely end sideways......lol...great vid......like how you keep it short.....
Great post...thanks.
Guys, I think all the sportsters went over there. Very hard to find an older sportster that's worth a shit here. Love those things from 1998 to 2008. I'd like the newer ones better if they weren't blacked out so much. Have fun, be safe, and watch out for the cellphoners- absolute wackadoodles.
Forward controls, antiquated frames and piss ant tiny tanks suck too.
I rode for 50 years before I hung up the leathers. With the exception of one stupid experience as a teenager, I never drank and rode. Riding requires all your attention and even one pint is enough to take the edge off your situational awareness. The whole thought of riding to a pub, having a friendly few, and then riding off with your mates gives me the shakes. You know how much you drank, but are you so sure about the wanker riding behind you. Ride sober and only ride with sober riders. No exceptions. Stay Safe.
Sporty motor is a little heavy imo. High bars and trailbike riding position best so you can throw it around. Still a bit heavy.
How was that right knee? Buell’s burn I can’t imagine that.
I'm betting it's a Harton: Sportster engine in a (new) Norton Featherbed frame. Probably Roadholder forks as well.
That looks like the pub near Alton called "The Flowerpot" or something like that. Tuesday lunchtimes is classic bikes if I'm right?
That Chris Evans is one talented guy.
Great guns
With that green field out the back, Steve's local looks like the set from Shed and Buried.
Fred the shed
And virtually not a word was said about the Sporty....
3:07 "Have you?"
"top heavy" is a general hd sportster characteristic ... lovely video tho
Just heavy, imo.
@@redtobertshateshandles Yep, there's worse, and with the low center of gravity, they are quite easy once you got the hang of it. 42 000 km in two years on my Sports' before it got stolen…
Surely you can't have top heavy with a low centre of gravity 🤷. I suspect top heavy and wishing it was a commando/ Bonny engine 😁
@@edwardm9227 Well… you can. If you ever can try on a Road king, you'll understand. Besides then, some light bikes do have center of gravity all the way up, making them feel heavier…
And i thought my '01 Speed triple was a mess!
Where does the pronunciation like 'caff' come from?
I've always known it as Caff. I think because cafe sounds a bit posh for most riders in the UK so they shortened it to just Caff. I suppose really they should be called Caff Racers as they started in the UK. Not really important though, haha.
@@TStyx That makes sense; thanks!
Gosh.... Both anomalous and lovely. Not my cup of tea, but the Sportster is the most "bike" Harley.
Back in the mid-80s a friend of mine had to use one as a courier mount when his CB250RS blew.... Then he just kept riding it.... with the speedo disconnected, natch.
The logic was that nobody would think anyone put serious.miles on a Harley.... It worked, too.
It was a nice little 883 4-speed... Really, the best thing Harley have made these past 50+ years.
Less is more.
No power, but plenty for the frame, brakes and suspension to manage.
Long live the stripped-back Sportster. The rest? Really?
Nah....
Ducati cafe racer all day long for me...
Henry who .
I love it but not the chrome front fender.
Pity no engine sounds
When was this filmed, no masks no social distancing?
Happier times
Who gives a f**k about that!
@@markhenry192 Me, my wife and I have only just finished quarantine because of a lockdown breaker.
@@TheBuckspygmy ok, that's unfortunate but I do not agree with this crazy lockdown, cure worse than the disease. Anyway that's my opinion, you have yours no doubt so lets leave it at that. Fingers crossed for the Spring/Summer when the madness will I hope be eased.
Heres to summef 21
Is that you billy Wells , fukin legend , what happened to Rosie the 650 tri ?
Well done Henry, you like your bikes, and the Lime Light: Shame your looks spoil the otherwise beauty of a Seasonal days ride out: Like an Ugly version of Worzel Gummidge, who even Aunt Sally would piss on. But, yes, there's Always a but: good vid, likable, if not moon shattering. Please don't stare into the Lense for long, it's costly equipment.
Sportster large lump of vibration …
Erratic engines
hey Henry, why am i blocked on twitter good sir? ive been commenting and watching you and Sam, since the very first series of S&B,
MTBK show, WGMR, and tried to ask about Norton after seeing the sad news today, and couldn't find you because id been blocked mate?
much upset and consternation, found you here again son, how sad, about Norton, did anything happen with your 961street?
Hi. Not sure what's happened, but Henry only uses Twitter very occasionally. It really isn't possible for him to respond to messages on social media - there are so many that if he did, there'd be no time to film anything! It looks like the new owners of Norton are investing in a new factory and we wish them well.
I wish H-D would do something like that with the Sportster (but with higher bars and mid controls, I could never handle that riding position) and get away from that awful matte black "Iron" abomination thing.
Henry worst biker goin carnt ride and carnt fix them rubbish
Well a turd on wheels is what a harley is ...why bother
Good old Harley with their 37 horsepower jajajajaja
Do a video of rat bikes
