Love the shoes!! Re “the journey”, I have always wondered if you’d tire of it. Your Meredith bag from Paris was such a fairytale, it’s no wonder the allure of “what could be” was apparently ignited in you. You seem to adore the dance of adventures, leaning into the openness of the unexpected. But unexpected and unknown are two very different things in the context of spending money. In the game of the journey there aren’t any guarantees, and I don’t see any allure in the spending of unknown amounts of money on an unknown outcome. That’s a game where mostly only the house wins!

I totally get what you're saying. I had bought some twilies and sold them and had not made a purchase in 4 years and got my Kelly. Then just a few months later again with little spend my Birkin and the following spring a SO. I really wanted 4 bags bc 2 daughters (and who knows if they will want them!) So I kept on. I bought only things I liked at the time but you know how that goes sometimes things don't work out. At the end it simply wasn't fun anymore it took over 2 years to get the last bag and I had bought just about everything I wanted. Don't think I could do it again. The green is super cute on your bag! I think you are moving and that causes a lot of change! Hopefully whatever it is it is happy!

Hey Dayle, the ‘journey’ is rough. For us it’s been: 10 pairs of shoes, 4 blankets, 4 cushions, 3 cuffs, earrings, fragrance, 4 belts and even a saddle etc so approx 34k. Have a relationship w a SA at Gold Coast but still not even a sniff of an offer. So have now bought a 25 and 30 pre loved and got exactly what I wanted. Living in country QLD doesn’t help but I guess it is what it is. Hard to balance heart and the logical head!

Ok my thoughts are that you really need to decide if the bag is truly worth the journey to you or do you get as much enjoyment out if carrying some of the gorgeous bags you already have or even being able to purchase more of those. I’m against the whole quota idea of making people jump through hoops and my friends might find that shocking given my own collection journey but we are talking many other useful funds that you could do many other things with. I’m just against having to pay to acquire something just to acquire it. Then to make you purchase items just for the sake of loyalty - hell no. It seems I’m watching a lot of my fav You Tubers do it though. You have an amazing collection and it’s clear you like to diversify so I say do you. PS. You are rocking that blond, just keep incorporating your darker color imo. It looks fabulous. And have a great Paris trip regardless of what you decide. I honestly like the one year limit idea. And I agree, maybe sneakers on the plane but not walking around in the winter. Your poor toes will freeze and the white mesh will get wet and yucky. Good luck in Paris,.. I have been 3 X in 5 months and i can tell you that unless you have an appointment its severely saturated and hard work. Most stores are stopping any walk in appointments and they are saying no to everyone. I had an appointment and they still said no. I wish you all the luck and dreams do come through but its 100000% harder than it used to be such a shame. xxx

Re the Hermes website - I laughed out loud because I have had the same issues in the past. When I got too excited and was moving too fast through the site clicking on things, it thought I was a bot and blocked me! So, I leaned to be a bit slower going through the site and so far, I've had no issues (just my experience) xx

I know very little about the Hermes’ journey. But from watching luxury RUclipsrs, it seems like it’s not unlike playing poker machines. The longer you play the more you eventually lose, even if you get the occasional win. I think you struck the jackpot on your first play! Actually grateful that Hermes is not to my taste 😅

@@olderbutbetterbeauty yeah it’s a bit arbitrary some stores seem To hand out bags with some purchases made and some let you spend 30000 (dollars/euro) upwards and still no bag . Rule of thumb seems to be don’t expect it before a 1:1 spend and some items like ready to wear or jewelry seems to be more „valuable“ (might have to do with commissions SAs earn from them ). You’re never guaranteed a bag and when they offer you one many people get an offer they don’t like at all (like they wanted a neutral small birkin and got offered a huge orange one )

The pre-spend in Australia is just not worth it IMO. I've got 4 H bags, 1 from Paris. I still purchase H things now and then if I love something but I am using my H bags less and less and focusing more on travel, experiences and retirement - hopefully in my mid 50's. I am even considering selling the bags that I have, which even a few years ago, I wouldn't have even considered an option - you need and want different things in different seasons of life.

If I am not wrong, you could have spent in the region of 5 to 7k AUD (non bag, non website purchase, AU profile)? This would make u eligible to be offered a picotin assuming a 1:1 and stocks are available. Is this in your wish list? Have u told your SA your wishlist? I’m sure you could be offered one if there is one available in the colour u like. If not, frankly ask your SA what’s the matter.

Only bring the sneakers to Paris if they are comfortable. As long as you get an appointment in Paris you’ll be offered a bag and if you have a scheduled appointment with the person you worked with last time then you will definitely get an offer. I have watched your surprising Hermes offer over and over. It was great fun. I'm neither a twilly fan nor a charm girly, and both of them on a bold colored bag takes away from the bag, IMO. It's like decorating a room with, instead of one focal point, there are three. Your eye doesn't know where to land. Of course, your bag, your rules, but just a suggestion: try the rodeo without the twilly just for the visual experience. I think you might be surprised how youthful and cool it looks. 😘😘😘

From what I heard, the spend to bag ratio is 2:1, depending on the color, size, leather, neutrals are higher than bright colors, the problem is that you are not even guaranteed you’re going to get the bag to your specifications. Forget it, no bag is worth it if you have to beg for it, seriously people, having a Birkin won’t make you a real queen, geez

23,000 usd prespend for b25 togo. Then worked on next b since exotic was requested, a few weeks after getting first b. This time safe prespend is 40k must be done in 12 months. One will naturally eventually move into the hard core jewelry and watches and the furniture. One must carefully curate the items for purchase as once bought, cannot be reasonably resold. It is true that you order and buy only what is of use to your daily life. There are no guarantees also. Once you have the desired number of “special bags”, one must stop. Then and only then can you shop in a relaxed manner at the store after that.

My Fendi SA told me a story where one of her clients on Hermes journey was trying to be convinced to buy one of those world globes, yes a world globe that costs around $40, 000. Are they for real🙄🙄. I myself think I was fortunate. I got my birkin in mauve pale after 6 months. I said to myself that I would only buy stuff that I wanted which I did. I stuck to my guns. I mainly bought shoes, SLGs, silk scarves and one RTW piece. My SA was so kind. Stick to your guns Dayle, buy if you really want something and hopefully it will happen.

Dayle…are you pregnant? Thats when I slowed down majorly. Now that my son is over 21…..I am back in the game and really enjoying myself. I can tell you that all the lux stuff I bought before I had my son I still have and thankfully most of the ready to wear still fits(and that was hard to maintain) but the quality of the pieces I purchased in the late 90’s is so superior to much of today’s ready to wear. Guess we have to stay tuned for the big news. In the meantime…have the most epic trip to Paris and enjoy all the things Paris has to offer, the shopping, food, and museums etc!

I would rethunk it too… seriously how much stuff could you get at Hermes without buying frippery and nonsense. I love the clothing but it’s just so expensive - I can’t justify wearing a 50K outfit and that’s not including the bag. And that’s not including the $8000 pleated silk and cashmere scarf I wanted to buy. All the other stuff ? We are grown ass women! It has to stop! 😂 For me the stand out from the brand is the ready to wear especially the amazing coats and their leather pieces in the clothing range. Absolutely stunning and not as conservative in design as the bags from the brand would suggest.

I think you're way too smart for the "journey". I feel people in this quest aren't being honest with themselves. " I only spent $34,000.00 on things I truly love". uh huh. To possibly be given the honor of being offered a bag you may or may not want. But don't you dare turn it down. They won't give you exactly what you want so you will continue to spend. It's a brilliant and obviously successful business plan.

As someone 2 years into the journey in Australia, I would say quit while you are ahead. If I had known what I would spend and the mental energy it would take up, I would have just got a bag from a reseller. I have received 2 amazing quota bags, but still not my number one choice, and i'm sure that is no accident. Still there is something really special about the store offer experience, but you got that in Paris. I'm now being tempted with a Special order experience and so I'll keep going. It's addictive but toxic. Unlike Chanel, which for me is pure joy, just too expensive.
