So excited Nate! My pup is coming this month. I took your advice I joined the west coast ring club and I’ve been going out for training every weekend. Getting to know my club helping set up the field and getting quizzed by my team members, it’s awesome. So excited
Looks like a fun time for the dog. Can't wait to try it for my GSD! Great instruction given with clarity and direction! Excellent trainer! Thank you for sharing this.❤🙏🏻🙏🏻
Niiiice!!! SO cool to watch this kind of work - or actually i feel it is a type of "ART" when yo get it really well.. Sadly In Norway it is illegal to do any bite or protection work without a license.. I used to do it when i worked as a doghandler for 3 years.. but i do no have a license to do it now so i guess i will have to get one .still have my softstock . etc.. . but it is just hanging in the dog tack room..as a memory from back in the days ;) i do train with bitepillows etc. though - just to get some impulse control... and so much fun for our dogs :)
Great stuff. Awesome explanation and demonstration! I did notice in the first exercise, the handler was stepping out with the right leg after a stop. Is stepping out with the left leg to signal heel no longer used?
Thanks and great observation! Yes, most handlers will step with the left foot to help cue the dog, but it's not required. She usually steps with the left foot first, but cameras can sometimes throw people a little off. :)
@@NateSchoemer I don't know if such a video to produce is possible. But if possible, can you and Bethany put together a video teaching a dog that already heels well but not a competition style heel? I have never been much into the competition style heel, but after teaching my GSD puppy a non focused heel, I want to also teach the focused style. Would love to see a demonstration on how to change the style already learned with a different verbal que to differentiate one from the other. Thank you for your time and effort putting these videos out!
Best way to start being and informal trainer. No car, no money, one dog that’s partly obedient to use. She is smart and learns quickly. Almost 10 I nov

Yeah, it's great for these types of dogs. The bitepillows should still be a lot of fun for your pup. :)

Great video, very informational. Are there going to be videos on how to acctually teach our dog in protection training?
Yes, check out the video on puppy bite work for french ring. That should give you a good start: ruclips.net/video/QNba6DA0l2M/видео.html
