    I do not think the US has anything this special for parents to stay together with the baby. Every hospital should have this capability. You two are so strong and beautiful

    A pediatrician once told me “one of the hardest moments with a newborn and your new life are the first two weeks after the baby is born”.
    Sara rest a lot. Give yourselves a couple of months. You 3 have been through a lot. The household inside and outside projects can wait, until you both are better rested.
    I wish you lived near us, bc we would bring you food.
    God Bless you 3.

    Watching this reminded me of how sad I felt when my own baby girl (who is now 21 years old) had jaundice and needed to wear a light blanket and get poked constantly. I also had a staph infection and was hospitalized for ten days. It was hard to stay positive. I could hear in your voices how hard you were working to hold it together and my heart hurt for you. Thank goodness it passes. It is a relief when you have your beautiful baby home! Sending you love and positive vibes!

    Such beauty and love, as a midwife of 25 years - most all babies loose weight and they should regain their birth weight by the time they are 2 weeks old. Breastfeeding is the most wonderful relationship with your baby and the best food, makes life a lot easier. Nipples acclimate within two weeks, there is wonderful nipple creams to help you and if the baby’s got a good latch it will make nursing easier, so if you are experiencing a longer painful nursing make sure you see a lactation consultant. I know the world of discovery is magical during this time! So thrilled for your family!!! Blessings beautiful people - Nana Kelli in Florida

    • @lwest5686
      @lwest5686 2 года назад +5

      fully agree on lactation consultant - it may seem that the latch looks okay - after all they're eating right? but it can be what seems like a really minor adjustment that corrects the nipple pain you won't believe it.

      This is so true! I nursed both of my children for a year! By 5 months, they were starting to eat off the table and the feedings got less they slept through the night by 6 weeks and by the tenth month they only nursed in the morning and before bed at night! They are now 58 and 47! 🤣
      I wouldn't have missed the experience as it was the best experience of my life! It's wonderful because you can travel and not worry about washing bottles and nipples! Now, with disposable diapers it's even better!
      Sarah, I'm sure you've been told already that the thing you must remember is to drink lots of water, or fluids and eat lots of food because you need at least 3,000 calories a day while nursing. I had the best figure of my life while nursing as my boobs were big and my belly was flat by 4 weeks.
      It was also wonderful that you nursed while you were ill as it helped your uterus do what it's supposed to do afterbirth! Enjoy your little princess! 💖 👸

    The health care you received is so much better than what I recieved in Australia in 2005.
    Our baby girl Tessa and I went through the same with no re admission. They even later admitted in hindsight we both had required further hospital treatment.
    I have had two open surgeries & 3 strokes in the years since her birth.. But our precious now Miss 16yr old Tessa and I are blessed.

    For your oral antibiotics to work correctly and avoid side effects please take them correctly. 3 x day = every 8 hours, 4 x = every 6 hours etc. This advice was given to me by a doctor at my local hospital when my son had a severe sore throat , unfortunately here in the UK they tell you to take them at regular intervals throughout the day instead of saying over 24 hours so most people take them morning noon and night but they are designed to work over a set amount of hours so if you leave a long period during the night without them the bacteria begins to grow again which delays the healing process. Also the side effects such as loose bowels are more common .Also, taking Kefir or probiotic yoghurt can help your intestinal flora to recover after taking antibiotics. Healing hugs of strength.

    • @aguabo
      @aguabo 2 года назад +2

      Big yes, taking probiotics right after done taking antibiotics so Sarah and baby can build good bacteria and prevent from getting infected again. Also many mothers are aware not to give the baby too many immunization shots at same time. I think they are sharing their schedule with years ahead of plan on when child can wait a long time in between for next shot. Follow mother’s instincts not doctors… Probiotics and long intervals of in-between shots are very critical steps in healthy child development. Several friends of mine took a great pressure from the nurses, and didn’t follow other mothers advice, unfortunately they are still struggling with their children’s health issue. 😢

    During my working life (as a librarian) when one of my coworkers was expecting, we always had a baby shower. My gift (always) was 5 frozen homemade dinners. (I always made a nice card to that effect.) I would talk with the mother-to-be afterwards and get any likes/dislikes. It was so nice to deliver the dinners as they were getting back home, knowing that they wouldn't have to worry about dinner for a while, letting them both rest and deal with the newborn. I would love to do that for you! :-)

    I never imagined when you said you all had a tough week, just how tough your weeks were. I’m sorry you all had such a rough start, but I’m happy everyone is doing better🤗
    Two of our baby’s had slight jaundice, the doctor said to set them in a sunny window as much as possible. Luckily that was enough for them and they didn’t have to spend time in hospital. Also, I understand the painful/stressful breastfeeding. With our 1st, I would cry every time he would cry to eat, I was miserable. Then felt like a failure, after 1 month, when I couldn’t do it anymore and had to switch to formula bottles. I still tried to breastfeed our other babies, but wasn’t as hard on myself when I realized I couldn’t.
    Sara, you are so tough, to go through birthing baby, and taking care of your baby, especially when you were so sick yourself! You are already an amazing Mami!😊 And Luca an amazing Papi!
    So happy you all are home, healthy and together!! Welcome home precious baby girl, Luce!!🥳 Can’t wait to see the grandparents reactions next week!! ❤️

    Bella Luce!! How happy I am for the name selection. She certainly will bring lots of Light to your lives, and this light will be more appreciated after the somber moments you inevitably have to endure through your family journey. Brava Sara!. I wouldn't expect you to speak to the camera or even be present in the video, but you are so strong and resilient. Love can beat it all. And Luca, you may feel tired, frustrated and a little left aside for a while. But you will be highly rewarded later, when little Luce call "Papa". A big hug from Patagpnia, Argentina.

    @Luca & Sara, I feel for you. In the beginning, I had blisters and mastitis and depression, woke up every 2 hrs and fed my baby son every 2 hours throughout the day. Everyday I swore it would be the last I would breastfeed... Once we got past the 2-month mark, breastfeeding began to be super easy. Luca you are a super great dad and husband. Bravo! And Sara, hang in there. You're doing great! It's really tough... but... imagine that in a few months, you can Leave Everything and Wonder without worrying about having milk with you or clean bottles and warm milk, etc.! It is a liberating experience and a beautiful bond!

When I had my baby 31 years ago, I got help/advice on nursing from a wonderful organization called La Leche League. This was in California. You all had a very rough beginning. Breastfeeding should never be painful. It is only painful if you have improper latch. For any mamas who read this and are in pain nursing look into deep latch and sandwich method. This saved my breastfeeding journey and stopped all the pain. It is amazing what we can nurse through. I have nursed through so many illnesses. Mamas body is amazing.

    So sorry you got hit with so much for the first few weeks of your baby. My son required the lights to treat his jaundice. I had to stay in the hospital because of a hemorrhaging problem and just as I was able to go home my son had to get the light treatment. I was able to stay for the additional two days because of my blood count, received another transfusion, but was able to stay on the maternity floor with him. This was forty five years ago so it was not as open to mother and child not being separated. Husbands did not stay overnight a lot of scary times alone.
    Thankfully the times have changed and you are now home with your new little baby girl. She is adorable. Much love, laughter and light to you and your daughter as you start this journey. May she bring you a !lifetime of happiness.

    I have watched your channel for quite some time. Somehow I missed this part of your journey into parenthood. It came up on my thread, so I decided to watch them. I think it is wonderful the hospital makes accommodations for mother and baby to stay together and not interrupt your feedings and bond. Every hospital everywhere should be so accommodating and enlightened. I am sorry this was so difficult for all of you. I had complications after w each of my 4 births. It is difficult for you now, but it will be over before you know it and be just a distant memory. I can see already you are both going to be wonderful parents. You are a great team, Blessings, Debbie

    It is amazing to me how fast she took to breastfeeding, that wasn’t the case with our boys. Don’t worry after a couple of months the nipples will return to normal (according to my wife of course lol). Hope you are feeling well Sara. Just try to get some sleep guys.
