qatlho'qu'! This was very helpful! Also, I didn't realize that pIqaD wasn't official ST canon until Discovery; that's so wonderful that the work of the KLI has become part of the show!

I love the fact that Picard literally means "I challenge you" to Klingon ears. No wonder the Klingons have a passing respect for our favourite Captain.

Yes, that's a strange coincidence. Literally, {pIqaD} means "we challenge you".

    Schoen! Thanks.
I remember trying to find a way to practically write Mandel, and I recognize the how hard it can be.

The Discovery font would work great for carving into stone because of the simple strokes. The older font would work great for calligraphy when painted with a brush.
But, I feel the truth of the matter is somewhere in between.

I got an amazing app called "write Klingon" - I learned to read and write pIqaD (slowly!) in about a week, and it really helped me with learning the language in general because it helped me think of things like "tlh" as a single letter. I strongly recommend learning to write Klingon if you're leaning to speak it 👍 thankyou for the great video :-D majqu'

The Write Klingon App uses what appears to be the HaSta font, which is different from the KLI pIqaD font, which is apparently now considered canon. For comparison of fonts see: skm.zoomquiet.top/data/20160607201910/index.html. The most different are I, o, Q and tlh, with some differences in n, ng, p, and r. The rest are similar enough or essentially the same. Unfortunately I found this video AFTER already getting good with the Write Klingon App, so now I feel like I have to unlearn several letters. I will post this to the Write Klingon App review as well; maybe they can modify the App to use canon pIqaD font, because the App definitely made it fast and easy to learn.

If I was 80s Paramount, I would nag that teaching it this way is not "alien enough", but I like it ☺️

The pen and writing enthusiast in me is now very curious what kind of writing implements Klingons traditionally use, since it looks very calligraphic. A thick brush made from the bones and hair of their vanquished enemies maybe!

Klingon reminds me a bit of Hebrew and Dee's Angelic (referred to as Enochian by some and one of the first conlangs)

For the letter e, could you do it in one motion by starting upwards from the bottom left and then going right, versus starting at the top left and having to pick up your writing utensil?

At ruclips.net/video/WkBEjU_5qSc/видео.html there is a glance at a very nice sheet that shows the letters with instructions on drawing them. Why not link to it?
(I realize the video does the same, but it looks like a good cheat sheet.)
