  • Did you know you can change your mind and heal from problematic thought processes that resides within a deeper consciousness? Past traumas can subconsciously support your illnesses. and if we don’t address and heal those traumas head on, it gets buried deep inside that manifests itself in different ways. The brain and body are interconnected and inseparable and in this episode we talk about health and wellness with a holistic perspective. When we harness the power of both the mind and the body together, we can transform our health and mental well being.
Kent and Heather McKean share their stories of healing and how you can heal from trauma, restore your health, and optimize your life. After being diagnosed with a myriad of rare genetic diseases and finding herself drowning in medications with no healing in site, heather was introduced to the power of the mind and turned to dealing with her past traumas of abuse. She completely restored her health by changing her subconscious mind and is now passionate in helping people find freedom from trauma, pain, illness and addiction. Kent then harnessed the same type of mind shifting to let go of being stuck in patterns of coping with hurt and shame in various destructive ways. Together they teach people how to overcome trauma, health issues, and negative core beliefs.
Their course Mind Change is a healing system utilizing the power of the mind and body. It’s designed to allow psychological stability by reprogramming the brain’s mental patterns to impact our responses and behavior towards life positively.
    In this episode we cover:
    - What Mind Change is and how we can change our minds to heal from trauma and negative thought processes, which then in turn positively effects our mental and physical health
    - The neuroscience of the mind and subconscious
    - What trauma means. Does it only apply to extreme circumstances?
    - Kent and Heather’s healing stories
    - What makes this modality different from others out there
    - Their thoughts on toxic positivity, victim shaming and exclusion when it comes to those suffering from mental and physical illness
    - Is changing the mind the only thing people need to deal with their trauma? What role does healthy diet and lifestyle play in our overall health?
    - My personal experience with Mind Change for the labor and birth of my third child
    - Testimonials and success stories
    - The importance of language when expressing our health issues and identities around it
    - Their Mind Change course and what it’s designed to do

This was incredible. I can connect to this on so many levels. When I was 19, I had a rare and severe form of cancer. A few months into my treatment, I had a very bleak appointment. I found out the chemo was not effective, and my treatment would need to intensify, and my surgery would be put on hold. I knew things were not looking good, so when my doctor asked if I wanted to know the specifics of my prognosis, I told him “no.” I believe that saved my life. I had this constant mindset and belief that I WOULD be healed. I found out about a year after I was healed, that I had a less than 10% chance of surviving. I truly believe that if I heard that, I would have died because I would have dwelled on that fear
On a smaller scale, I noticed my severe eczema completely cleared up when I switched careers. All of a sudden, when my stress levels dropped, my eczema cleared up. I didn’t change my diet, or products, or any other factors
I need to take this knowledge with me- I think there is so much that I haven’t tapped into yet, but since I’m already aware of the power within, I know I can do great things

I healed myself in a similar way of mental illness and thyroid cancer. It's incredible to realize just how much power we have. I love how Heather & Kent mentioned that someone may not be ready to hear/receive this information because I relate to that so much!!! This conversation was beautiful and empowering! Much love to the McKeans and Ellen ❤️❤️❤️

So interesting here when he mentions not recognizing his own personal trauma especially while caring for her in her state of constant illness/fragility… Almost as if subconsciously her needing “fixing” and prioritization was the perfect distraction for him from his own reality. How fascinating.

This might be the best podcast yet! Everything she’s saying is so true! I used to live in my head a lot and started getting panic attacks, then I had to change my thinking and included regular physical activity in my life and everything changed. I haven’t had one panic attack since, and I’m like a new person now. It’s all about body and mind connection!

Trauma is not an event. It is how the body responds and functions in stressful, adverse conditions. It is created when an overwhelming demand is placed upon the physiological human system.

After watching this podcast yesterday, the subject of healing yourself by addressing childhood trauma and using your mind to work through pain came up TWO MORE TIMES all in the same day. Message received, universe! Seriously, though, this is a fascinating topic, and I just ordered her book. I thought about asking for it for Christmas but absolutely could not wait that long. Thanks for introducing us to the McKeans and their incredible work.

Best podcast to date. Thank you so much for this! After experiencing my first anxiety attack last night, I realise that I have some work to do! When the “care-giver” was mentioned it really hit home! I have traumas from growing up with a chronically ill Mother, whom I lost in July this year... being an empath I cared for her as a child & took on her suffering all my life. As well as other stuff. I have prided myself in being a healthy, plant based, home educating SAHM of 3 boys... but found myself being put on meds for high blood pressure a year ago this month. Which I detest!
I have just purchased the book here in the UK as I cannot afford the course. Hoping I will gain something from the book? Much love to Heather & Kent for sharing their story, and to Ellen... 💖

The all part on empathy is so important, it's really hard to not feel/be at their place vs just help them from a distance/compassion... The line is so thin particularly when you're someone who lived a lot of trauma you want to help to tell them "I feel you". One thing to work on in 2022.

I love all of your episodes Ellen, best podcast ever.
But this episode was over an hour and I’m still confused as to what they are talking about. What exactly is “mind change”
    -Address your trauma
-Stop saying your fine, but also don’t victimize yourself
-start telling yourself you are strong and healthy and so on
    -visualize a happy, healthy you.
Don't necessarily do tapping because it doesn’t work for everyone.
But ?? That’s still so vague and unclear. I don’t know. I feel like I’m walking away disappointed. It was a lot of fun around.

Important topic but it all sounded like one big advertisement (of their book, course and services) without any concrete information about what and how to do it... And this is wrong attitude (money motivation) - usually it's other way around: first you give a free information and guidance and then make money on it because people would still be insatiated and carving books, courses etc. if it'd help them... Joe Dispenza did great job doing exactly that. How their method is different to his or any other?

Often I feel they have more trauma than a woman and yet they are silenced. This is not good for you or your partner and or for the next generation.

I usually love everything to do with the power of the mind and positivity, however I don’t feel this couple brought anything new to the table. The entire episode stank of delusion and self idolatry.
Was the man really suggesting that his conversation with the pregnant lady enabled her to bring her miscarried baby back to life? As opposed to it being an incorrect diagnoses of a miscarriage in the first place?. Yikes.

Some of us don't push for empathy--we just have it. Like, when India had its big earthquake years ago, I felt this overwhelming sadness that I couldn't understand until I learned about the earthquake. I'm sorry, you don't understand empathy and why psychologists have a high incidence of suicide because of it. You actually don't have empathy, I can see, because you don't understand it. And those that did take their lives because of their empathy also did not understand their gift. It isn't something you have to carry--it's a gift so you have understanding and knowing--so you can actually help situations. Once you are given this information about someone's pain (you don't even have to know who it is or what, just as I didn't have that much information from the India earthquake) THEN you use another gift you probably have and pray for that situation to help the situation. You don't hold their pain, you pray to turn that energy into real aid. And no, you don't have my permission to use this information to capitalize on it. This message is for those who do suffer from their gift of empathy because they don't understand it. Please do not speak of things you not only are not gifted with, but obviously do not understand.

I strongly disagree with her take on empathy. Sure there may be people who try to feel the feelings of others in order to connect with others. However, there’s an entire population of people who don’t TRY to empathize for this purpose or for any purpose. It’s not something true empaths have to work at or TRY at. I was born being able to feel pain when I see others are suffering. I don’t try and I certainly don’t think it makes me connect with others. It actually sucks and many empaths work to not take on these strong emotions in response to the suffering of others. She implies that people empathize as a conscious act because society elevates empathy. Myself and many others who are empaths, are that way naturally without effort. Many of us are actually using tools to lessen our empathic responses. What she’s right about is that empathy without reprove, can make one mentally & physically ill JUST LIKE EXPERIENCING your own on-going negative emotions. Because, hello?! true empaths do suffer anguish similar to those suffering themselves. Therefore they will obviously be at a risk for negative physical & emotional impacts if not careful.

I’m told that my pain is a result of my diet, of my sleep, of my water intake, of my exercise regiments, (all things I have changed too many times) and then this idea that it’s all the “power of the mind”. It is aggravating, ablest, and ignorant.

I would highly encourage you to check out our other work, The Metanoia Method, which is completely Bible based. Far from "New Age", this information is scientifically AND Biblically backed. Through our 15 + years working in the full-time ministry, with churches around the world, we realized that those that identified at Christians were some of the most "stuck", sad, judgmental, and physically ill people around. Our book, The Metanoia Method is being widely acclaimed around the world, helping those with a Christian faith. As for Ellen's own beliefs, I think that is a very personal journey and not one that she is obligated to share with the world. In knowing her very personally, she is one of the most loving, serving, generous, and caring people I know. I'm pretty sure Jesus would recognize many of His values in Ellen.

But religion in general does not resonate with me. I find it to be extremely judgmental and contradicting. I believe in God, but not the one that is casting punishment and hellfire on those who do not follow his word. That is a very conditional and insecure God IMO.
