I did the Catalina update and the battery drains so much faster now, I swear apple is behind this. They just wants consumer to keep buying new devices when such devices work just fine.
I believe the Catalina upgrade caused my problems as well. Macbook Pro Unibody 2012. Have tried new batteries twice and it still suddenly drains/drops .
I'm running Chrome and Safari. I wanted to try out Safari, since supposedly Macs are optimized to use it. Well--it's using twice as much power as Chrome!
Macbook Pro 19 here, 1323 Cycle Count and counting... battery condition is normal but my laptop would drain drastically while on sleep mode. I'm talking 90% to 0% overnight. Not to mention the overheating and loud fan noise.
@@ainamards sorry to hear you have the same problem man, but my laptop just fixed itself... I restart it every 10 days or so and it's fine now. There are a couple of triggers such as some websites but other than that my Mac seems fine again which is very strange but I'm not complaining.
@@CleanMyMac Thanks for the reply! So 562 is a lot out of 1000? - I use CleanMyMac and ran everything I could and upgraded to the latest OS. It has helped a bit but still not great.
Batteries tend to get old, unfortunately. Quoting Apple: "Your battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original charge capacity at its maximum cycle count. For best performance, replace your battery when you reach its maximum cycle count." However, if you face any issues with it we suggest you check it with the specialist.
Exactly the same situation I have...A1932 Macbok Air... I ran the update and that's when it started. The charging icon stayed on even when unplugged. So I bought a new USB C port replacement but before I changed it, a new update came through and now that I've updated it, the charging icon problem no longer exists but the battery is losing charge waaaay to quickly... Thinking of restoring it to factory settings ... then maybe if that doesn't change it, I'll change the battery... 🙌

My battery is at 82% health and has used 562/1000 charge cycles but dies after about 10 mins when unplugged. Any thoughts? Great video, by the way!
562 cycles is a lot IMHO, we suggest you bring a laptop to Apple Store for a check-up.
