The weekend: I downloaded the free mixtapes back in 2011. I thought that the debut one was the best, but also it was so mind-blowing that an artist would be so confident in his talent that he'd make 3 whole albums and just put them out. The other albums by him never reached that high the first one did for me. But I appreciate that he was in a dark self-harming and hedonistic place back then and has matured since then. I hate the myth that artists need to suffer for our enjoyment. But the later songs feel too polished for me.

Love the My Chemical Romance recognition. "The Ghost Of You" is one of my favorite rock songs of all time
Your love for illmatic is exactly how I feel about it too. What I would pay to listen to this album again for the first time. I highly recommend watching his biopic Time is Illmatic if you haven’t already.
My fav album of all time is probably Not Waving But Drowning by Loyle Carner. Not cause I think it's the best album of all time, all though it is great. But the way Loyle talks about ADHD and feeling like you don't belong in this world, as a person who also struggles with ADHD and also often has these thoughts, this album resonated with me a lot. If I had to recommend a few songs from it I'd recommend: Ice water, still, angel.

I would definitely recommend listening to Omar Apollo's entire catalog. His projects are pretty short but very meaningful. He had a good year in 2022, but his music before then was still great.

Since you both love Boards of Canada I highly recommend listening to Minecraft - Volume Alpha by C418 for the channel.
I understand it wont have the same nostalgia it does for someone my age but I still think it has this Aphex Twin / BoC vibe enough to be appreciated.
For an ambient OST its 24 songs over an hour so the variety breaks it up

Hi guys! I just found your channel on my recommended and have been having an absolute blast watching your stuff. I want to add quickly as i saw that one of Molly's favourite albums is House Of Balloons. I personally don't like it as much as everybody does as I don't think the album is all that consistent. Loft Music is very underdeveloped, High For This is not the strongest opener for this album, and "What You Need" is just boring. But i can definitely see what was so revolutionary about it and how it changed rnb. But the album that perfectly captures that dark and unsettling aesthetic is definitely Echoes of Silence. Mainly because this was already Abel's third project and i think he definitely knew what he wanted to do as the songs are very detailed lyricaly and story wised. And the producer who he was working with definitely complimented his dark lyrics. The whole thing is just an experience i can never forget. I strongly recommend it!
Dummy is criminally underrated. Just got into Portishead a couple years ago because of Jon Denton talking about them during his reactions. Incredible music. Their live album at Roseland might be one of the best live albums ever.

After Hours is a masterpiece pop album. Multiple songs will be played on greatest hits of 2020s radio stations in the future. His hit songs will be more appreciated as time goes on like all the greats before
Great post guys. Diving into full albums as they're intended to be heard in an appropriate setting is a dying experience because people mostly throw together playlists or only give what they're listening to half their attention when they first hear it. Not a proper way to judge something and first impressions matter a lot.
