Fort Travis: The Bolivar's Abandoned Outpost

Fort Travis is a century old military encampment on the Southern tip of the Bolivar Peninsula across from Galveston Harbor.

Another cool video! Ever thought about doing one on some of the abandoned warehouses in the east end district? On Navigation St, around the Farmer's coffee plant, there are plenty of these buildings that have fallen into disrepair. I've always been pretty curious as to what they used to be.

Before a hurricane, due to it's elevation and protection, the entire Fort will be packed full of boats from the Bolivar residents. It's also a great place to wade fish.

I'll have to suppose that Ft. Travis was underwater during the 1900 storm otherwise people would have sheltered there instead of inside of the Bolivar Lighthouse.
