That is actually better than a number of movies I've seen. It has everything: conflict, speeding through urban traffic, cops, laughs, a ticking clock, and the always popular "are they or aren't they?"
+Dionamuh They're often very cute and sexy women. Many of them Israeli (israeli women are sexy). Also very sassy women, one of the guys. They're definitely not plain janes.
+MRsjovealek I revmatch every time I change a gear... I just can't stand putting a wear on the clutch :P And it's fun!

+Fixtor around here we call it double clutch, as you press on time the clutch to disengage, rev the engine and press the clutch again for the new gear to enter. Actually everyone learns to brake with the engine on driving classes. But for most people that don't know how to proper use a gearbox, that could be way too much of a trouble. xD
The fact that you two looked like you were having a blast is all the more reason to consider buying this car. Love the videos and great to see you, Mat! Keep crushing these reviews!
***** Probably because of how YT works. They uploaded it earlier but made public now and it will be in your subbox but on the date it was uploaded. That's my experience, don't know if it's correct.
Jakub Kurzawa That's not how it works actually. I used to be a YT'er before and I have queued videos before :) Videos not appearing in my subbox for a few hours has happened to me before, but this video appeared after over 1 day which is very unusual.
+Monk MonkMonk Actually, I drive an Ampera, almost all the time in "max regen" mode. I was recently told that the brake lights don't in fact, come on when regen braking! Only when using the brake pedal! I think I'd better watch my rear view mirror much more.
I did a quick test drive in the i3 in gridlock downtown Toronto and you can one pedal drive the i3 given enough speed to enable strong regen. If you accelerate slightly and keep it at 1-2mph/kph it will creep forward which eventually requires actual brakes. Most the time the car will regen to a halt.
He was flirting and she was enjoying it. Matt, you both look great together. I like how you were being protective of her even though you were "competing". I do not know who she is but she has an innocent/honest vibe going on. If she loves cars, please give her a video to make.
What an amazing car, i drive like that all the time with my polo first brake just lifting the pedal and braikng at 20-30 km/h in town. I cant imagine my self driving other way :)) that is how i learned from the beginig and i feel very ofd i i go with 50km and suddenly break i have a feeling i am gonna crash :)))))
It would be interesting to be able to use the "brakes" and have the electric motors actively take over the braking in place of the brakes. Seems like a logical use of the hybrid or electrical system, especially in city traffic...
When you live in California, where roads are wide and big... then you look at British road that are narrow and full of life. Seems to have less crazy people I would say. Kind of want to drive there sometime.
This is daft because the electric motor IS the regenerative braking system. putting on light braking just increases the regenerative effect of the electric motor, which it does somewhat without the brakes to emulate engine braking.
I don't understand... does the i3 not use regenerative braking when you press the brake pedal, like Lexus (& presumably Toyata) does? The first bit of travel just uses regenerative braking, then you feel the pads engage if you press harder. You could drive any car without pressing the brake pedal - just use the gears - but it's a stupid way to drive!
+audex sorry for late reply but to tell you what's next, if you see red and yellow you know next will be green, just yellow next will be red... Just a way it's always been i guess
So... in a way, this is a video of driving *_with_* brakes, anyway. Think about it. "Attempted to get by just using the electric car's regenerative braking alone." "The pair took it in turns to drive some of the city's busiest areas without pressing the brake pedal."So, it's driving with brakes anyway.
+marco fava It's useful to Not use the brake in an EV or hybrid, because it extends the driving range on the battery. (Regenerative braking recycles energy & recharges the battery.) .
if it is down hill and you shift to neutral it will creep however if you set it in reverse it won't creep forward but you may make people behinde you afraid.
technically the i3 is a nice car. it's small, light, efficient and it's even got good torque but it gets hate on for it's looks? guys it's what's on the inside that matters.
There isn't any UK law specifically prohibiting someone from coasting downhill. However, if you were to be involved in an accident that was influenced by coasting, the argument could be made that the driver did not have control of the vehicle - which would be an offence.
+Tony Deslandes Don't worry, the i3 has an accelerometer which detects gforce whenever the car slows down and then automatically engages the brake light.
Pedestrians only have right of way at a crossing, people can walk out infront of this car simply because they didn't hear it coming, which for their own safety of not being hit the horn I believe is justified.
If you're going to try something like this, perhaps it would be an idea to run the test with people who can drive safely and well in the first place. This is truly shocking for what should be a serious publication and you should be ashamed of yourselves.
I do this challenge every time I drive my i3! Great fun, and very energy efficient. (The regenerative braking on the i3 is beautifully engineered; really smooth, progressive and easy to use.)
If you kept driving like that in front of me, I'd just give a blast on the horn on my Porsche and that ridiculous, silly little electric box (which actually causes pollution near somewhere else's house - you selfish idiots) would vibrate so much that it would literally break up and fall apart. And I'd laugh.
oh, get a room you two!
That is actually better than a number of movies I've seen. It has everything: conflict, speeding through urban traffic, cops, laughs, a ticking clock, and the always popular "are they or aren't they?"
Underrated comment.
I think I have a thing for Rebeccas.
+Dionamuh They're often very cute and sexy women. Many of them Israeli (israeli women are sexy). Also very sassy women, one of the guys. They're definitely not plain janes.
So does Mat, clearly.
appelpower1 I don't blame him. At least he's a straight man!!
Firemarioflower I don't blame him either.
Dionamuh same
"I'm gonna give you Mat Nav"... Smooth Mat, smooth.
another Rebecca for Mat??? LOL
I much prefer the original version ;)
+Ryan Cheng I thought it was Jackson, disappointed. :(
What sotup
I'll give you MAT NAV it is better than SAT NAV LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
Never thought that a no-braking challenge could actually be this exciting x)
Am I the only one here who does this in a normal car? Like 4th, 3rd, 2nd, and sometimes 1st before stopping? Haven't changed pads in 4y.
Baladibt YES!!!!
How many times have you changed the clutch?
MRsjovealek if you rev match, (and you´re good at it ;) ) you basically have no wear on the clutch doing that.
+MRsjovealek I revmatch every time I change a gear... I just can't stand putting a wear on the clutch :P And it's fun!

This video wasn't in my subbox for some reason.
***** Same. Found out about it from the 90 seconds update.
Alin Marginean Exact same here!

Jakub Kurzawa It was available on our website first and then published to RUclips a day later. Not sure why it didn't appear in the sub box though...
Mat is such a back seat driver! Lol!
When you lift off the throttle, does the car's brake light come on when it's using regenerative braking?
+Monk MonkMonk yes, if the car is slowing down at the equivalent rate to braking.
Monk MonkMonk I hope so otherwise it's pretty damn dangerous
+Monk MonkMonk Actually, I drive an Ampera, almost all the time in "max regen" mode. I was recently told that the brake lights don't in fact, come on when regen braking! Only when using the brake pedal! I think I'd better watch my rear view mirror much more.
+psynrg what a out adaptive cruise. I keep seeing German vehicles tap their brakes or maybe they are using acc.
3:00. Damn Mat loves giving indications and being bossy. You better prepare Rebecca.
Prepare for how amazing Mat is now. Click the banner in the top right hand corner to see how much you could save on CarWow.

2:15 he used his brakes
It would be painful driving behind you.
What mode were they in? Isn't eco plus the one pedal drive mode?

My goodness, gracious it's ok in the UK to crowd the intersection. And no red light camera?
Let me get this straight, so regenerative breaking sends the energy back to the batteries so it won't go to waist?
No instead of going to waist it goes to hip or neck
It is possible, like he said, you have to plan ahead.
Do the brake lights turn on even though you're not pressing the pedal?
If they don't and the car is breaking anyway it could be quite dangerous
Ok that looks exciting as hell LOOL
+Xplosion51 wtf?
+Xplosion51 That's racist as fuck, but I still lmao
+Xplosion51 well that is better than raping a dog
New Rebecca is hot.
I3 or the mg zs can you give me you opinion please
do US-spec i3s come with leather seats?
I tried this and crashed my pride wouldn't let me hit the brake
I love my I3 and yes I hardly ever hit the brake.
What an amazing car, i drive like that all the time with my polo first brake just lifting the pedal and braikng at 20-30 km/h in town. I quite like her! She's not snob like THE OTHER REBECCA.
It would be interesting to be able to use the "brakes" and have the electric motors actively take over the braking in place of the brakes. Seems like a logical use of the hybrid or electrical system, especially in city traffic...
Did they disable the brakes or something : !
what about brake lights?
That looked like fun!
When you live in California, where roads are wide and big... then you look at British road that are narrow and full of life. Seems to have less crazy people I would say. Kind of want to drive there sometime.

Genuine fun, brilliant way to depict a rahter known feature of most EVs. And all praise the uk for miss R. is über cute indeed.
its just me or i just saw traffic lights in the uk turned yellow coming from red into green???
+audex Yep thumb7.shutterstock.com/display_pic_with_logo/8084/8084,1115883046,9/stock-photo-composite-set-of-traffic-lights-in-sequence-325883.jpg
dafuq, why is that?
+audex sorry for late reply but to tell you what's next, if you see red and yellow you know next will be green, just yellow next will be red... Just a way it's always been i guess
"matt nav"
Mat, either you're gonna win her heart, or you're gonna be a great driving instructor... I say BOTH!
I do like the i3
what would happen if police stoped you, creep forward while they are giving a ticket?
Mat : Has a fender bender
Mat : keeps on creeping forwards
So... in a way, this is a video of driving *_with_* brakes, anyway. Think about it. "Attempted to get by just using the electric car's regenerative braking alone." "The pair took it in turns to drive some of the city's busiest areas without pressing the brake pedal."So, it's driving with brakes anyway.
I thought it was going to be testing accident avoidance automatic braking. Try it again with a car with that feature.
I didn't know police sirens in the UK were the same as in America
your a dumbass
***** thanks so much
***** yeah because in movies the sirens sound different in the uk
right, the usefulness of this test is questionable, funny thought it is
+marco fava It's useful to Not use the brake in an EV or hybrid, because it extends the driving range on the battery. (Regenerative braking recycles energy & recharges the battery.)
.
why?
You do realise that the brake pedal uses regenerative braking too?
Next time shift to Neutral to stop the car from creeping. You could have dropped your brake number from 3 to just 1
.
if it is down hill and you shift to neutral it will creep however if you set it in reverse it won't creep forward but you may make people behinde you afraid.
lovely couple.
technically the i3 is a nice car. it's small, light, efficient and it's even got good torque but it gets hate on for it's looks? guys it's what's on the inside that matters.
+jump oricakle fuck off Stevie Wonder
ghd67ik2887218 ?
+jump oricakle Stevie Wonder is blind. Blind people can't judge a car by its looks. That's the joke.
I always have to use the brakes with this car cuz I'm so bad at anticipating lol
There isn't any UK law specifically prohibiting someone from coasting downhill. However, if you were to be involved in an accident that was influenced by coasting, the argument could be made that the driver did not have control of the vehicle - which would be an offence.
Do it again!😁
04:30 :04:41 hahahaha
adam kaçtır aynı tshirti giyiyor kokusu buraya kadar geldi
ok, great video but. Brake lights indicate your intentions to other drivers... would make for an interesting insurance claim
+Tony Deslandes Don't worry, the i3 has an accelerometer which detects gforce whenever the car slows down and then automatically engages the brake light.
Good to know :-)
This is like my normal driving routine lol. FUCK BRAKES I TAKE CORNERS AT 60!!!
It's like a minigame haha
couple making out at the corner @00:43 :) :)
If Alan Partridge had a son...other than Fernando.
+ginge82 CashBack!
Matt Watson is funny!
It's a bit like driving a tractor trailer.
Yes I hate taxi drivers too.
It's quite stupid test when you do in public.
Wow! Another pretty face name Rebecca. Apparently Mat Watson is not that lonely after all. Nice video though.
Did he farted @1:33 lol?
Hello, Rebecca! ;)
????????
If thats his wife clearly he got some coins aswell as cars
Hooting at pedestrians crossing legally and who actually have the right of way? Lame...
Pedestrians only have right of way at a crossing, people can walk out infront of this car simply because they didn't hear it coming, which for their own safety of not being hit the horn I believe is justified.
Not according to the Highway Code.
wrong rebecca
This Rebecca👌😄
No this is a fake rebecca😱😱
I really liked the girl she is soo cute
So this is where the guy from Carbuyer went to? Huh.
If you're going to try something like this, perhaps it would be an idea to run the test with people who can drive safely and well in the first place.

I like other rebeca
That's one pretty girl.
I do this challenge every time I drive my i3! Great fun, and very energy efficient. (The regenerative braking on the i3 is beautifully engineered; really smooth, progressive and easy to use.)
lovely girl :)
Ohh another Rebecca...
Too bad the i3 is ugly as fuck
Its an electric car no fun yawn
Lololol Mat nav
Hahaha!!
