    Just want you to know that you are mine and my grandmothers favorite violinist, and that she and I both play violin, and she even has a violin that you nearly bought.

      @Carmel Gibbons First of all, instruments are expensive, so you have to be sure that you are going to put forth time and effort to learn it. But if you have decided that you are, then find a well rated violin shop, (I would not recommend shopping online.) Then, find what size you need, the people at the violin shop should be able to help. Once you find the size that you need, then pick out the actual violin. For violins the pores in the wood open up with age, wich gives it a good sound with depth, so don't go for a brand new violin. Also, the bow does make a big difference, so you might want to get a good bow as well. Then after you have considered all this, just pick the violin that you prefer. Good luck!
