Nice to see Foo Dog get a shout out! It's almost always a buy in the early game for me. I like the mini-game it creates of trying to see how many you can stack before the tier changes. And then if lollipop is available...
I find it fun that you had never heard of the Kappa before, since my nr. 1 wish for the unicorn pack (before it came out) was to include Kappa. This style of top 10 seems like a much improved version of the tier list. You had some really interesting categories in here.
I had this in a playlist for a point in time I could give this long video my attention, and I’m glad I did. This has been really fun. It’s a really cool take on ranking things, and it’s is definitely 100% certified Grounded.
Minor changes that I would have liked: Angry Starfish deserved a top ten spot for retired artwork Salamander, chicken, and Macaque top ten or honorable mention for changed abilities

@GroundedSAP I'm 100% sure it would. The freeze prevention is only to ensure you dont freeze a pet and have it buffed over and over again in the shop. 2 hits are intended, if you unfreeze the sell ability always works

While I don’t quite get it, they are apparently called “Sarcastic” Fringeheads due to their odd look and aggressive nature. Which for some reason to the French biologist who first described them, screamed sarcasm. I still remember that stupid reason years after my Marine science class about them because of how nonsensical it seems In truth sarcastic isn’t related to humor, but rather to a Greek word meaning “to bite”, so it makes sense, but it’s still stupid. Such a cool fish and they gave it a dumbass name
Underrated: Ghost Kitten, Iguana, Panda, Porcupine, Wasp, Cuttlefish Best Artwork: Toad (Goofy Face), Ahuizotl (petting itself), Blue Dragon (more creative than just a recolor), Blobfish (actual appearance + pressure tank rather than the memed appearance), Starfish (the sticky note face is funny) And a ton of other pets, but I really wanted to pick the ones that stand out. Some animals have great art but I left them out because the animal they're based off of is already aesthetically pleasing (like Pink Armadillo and Desert Rain Frog). Favorites: Axolotl (before it became OP), Seagull, Beluga, Hatching Chick (yes it's OP but it's critical for achievements and helps get "weird" teams the exp they need), Leech (overplayed, but the ability remains unique), Flying Fish, Panther Best of the Best: A little surprised Lynx didn't make the cut, but I guess the power creep has left it behind a bit. Edit: Surprised Duck didn't get any mention, considering your icon. Also, this video caused me to notice you still use the old Duck art and not the new one.
The new duck art didn't exist when I started the channel.... but I wouldn't change it anyway because I don't like the new one! Flying Fish was a miss from favourites for sure.

Komodo I still see fairly regularly. There are so many people who play just scalers that you see the 'rare' ones komodo and rootling sandwiched in between husky, poodle, monkey etc. I rarely use parrot in meme build runs, for reasons explained later lol. For retired art I wasn't doing the recoloured ones, just the ones where the drawing itself changed. I hadn't heard the name Nurikabe before but the 'demon wall' is a common enemy in fantasy rpgs. Yeah forgot about crab for sure. Leviathan got a pass because it was nerfed and is now nowhere to be seen. Red dragon is decent but maybe not good enough to be underrated. I do like the sea anemone art, but it's hard to shake the buy/sell trauma. Bad dog is kinda fun but not as fun as bad dog plus mole. Yeah the exp pets are always hard to rank for sure.
@GroundedSAP thanks for the thorough reply, always interesting, your thoughts on the game, 0 exp pets in the last cat was most suprising, but in a way they are like a food almost... but in an other way they're the most important part crab was so OP....
Honestly by the end of this I just had to release it as is - you can go forever finding reasons to keep switching stuff around or finding even more pets you missed. I already massively cheated on the last list lol

Don't think so. But it did have multiple different versions. Original was replace whole shop with food. Then it was just discount the food, then add 1 extra food and discount everything, then back to discounting only.
1:05:46 whale is just pelican now. pelican makes pets with no in battle abilities good and whale makes pets with in battle abilities good. I thought they wanted to nerf whale not BUFF IT❗️❗️❗️
Something was gonna get forgotten/omitted no matter what. Mongoose and sting ray should probably both be in the meme toolkit list but I think I would rate sting ray higher than mongoose because you're guaranteed to get some kind of value out of it. Mongoose perks get wiped by ailments so often.

Yeah I guess I forgot gorilla macaque made it onto the live server briefly. I didn't want to put the starfish art on screen, it's too evil.
Pelican is my favorite unit of all time. If I see it in a weekly idc about any other pet.

I don't really miss old puppy. Old owl was another throwaway ability like old mole.
Pink robin is also my favourite. I haven't bought any of the mini packs yet, but they do have nice artworks
