The thing that hurts me even more about this video is that a while back, I read a long one-chapter fanfic where Norway was the poor match seller, and Denmark was the best friend he had to move away from but still remembers, because of something tragic that happened ;-; I cried so hard at the quote oh my god
it was painful to watch denmark became accidentally cruel because he didn't know robot iceland actually had a soul, and he knew what it was to be a replacement. or maybe he just felt sad for his doctor and I was so intense. anyway, thanks for the video. it hurts. love u.

In my mind when I made this, it was actually that very mistake of Den's that kept Ice from having a soul of his own, despite the innovative technology and advanced algorithm. For me, Ice was supposed to be Den and Nor's creation, like a child of their own (because they cannot have biological children), but the grief from Nor's death is so great that all Den could think of was to find a way to both realize their dreams and see Nor again, somehow. So what he did was wholly basing Ice on Nor's person (i.e. personality, appearance, everything about him, basically his "soul"). But you cannot recreate a soul. Creating one is already improbable enough. His mistake was being engulfed in memories, thus always looking for Nor in his creation, when he was supposed to see both of them in Ice. Their collaboration. Their child. I believe that Ice became emotional not only because he thought he was a replacement, but also because he had charged all of Den's struggles, pain, longing and loneliness into him. In the end he had gotten a soul, because the moment he traveled back in time, Den knew that the robot should be its own person before it could forge its own soul. And it was Nor who guided that lost, artificial soul to reunion with him and Den. They all died, but not in vain; they now have each other, and that's my idea of a happy ending.

Den was half fulfilling his unvoiced promise to Nor (this was their creation), and half trying to pick himself up, preventing himself from dwelling on his loss (which just resulted in searching for Nor, yes). That didn't mean he didn't love the robot as his creation, of course. But what he should have seen was *himself* and Nor, to make Ice whole as a new person, a mix of them both. I think he did realize that the robot could never be Nor, after he tried clipping the cross on Ice's hair. As for Ice, I don't think he could have perceived emotions in such a complex way at once. I did say he recognized that he had been, at one point, thought of as replacement, but he was mostly flooded by Den's sentiments.

And yes, Den died a long long time before. By the time Ice woke up and started to charge the contents of his soul in, it was about four hundred years after Den had given up and perished. (Hence the compilation screen of the programming of that "soul", with the elapsed time of millions of seconds.)
This is incredible... really surprised it doesn't have more views. Almost started crying half way through - some of the quotes nearly got me, and the flashback on their life together...
I've watched this video at least 5 times today and i cry every time-- the exact time that the first tear comes? 0:35, yeah and the song hasn't even started yet. But i still watch it and i love it it's amazing.

Câu chuyện bạn làm hay lắm, và mình cũng ship Den với Nor nữa (Thằng con mình tên Ice sao số nó nhọ trong mọi hoàn cảnh, mọi Fic mọi MAD thế nhở...)

+Kiyoshi Miyaji Ơ thế thì mình y hệt bạn rồi, từ đoạn lượn lờ Tumblr đến đoạn yêu Nordic vô điều kiện đây :'D APH độ này anime ra mới nên cũng nổi lên mà, cơ mà mình công nhận là ở Việt Nam mình thấy không còn quá nhiều người để ý nữa rồi. May trên Tumblr thấy fan vẫn khá thường trực. Cảm ơn bạn nhé, mình yêu DenNor lắm luôn

Giờ chỉ cần đợi đến tháng 2 (hình như thế) với cái Halloween 2011 :'D Nghe nói thời lượng dài hơn nên mong không bị cắt, nhất là đoạn bạn Den ngầu với nguy hiểm (một cách cực kì không bình thường) khi bị chị Belarus phóng dao vô mặt, đoạn Viet-chan xuất hiện, đoạn nhảy Bollywood của bộ đôi India - Prussia và cuối cùng là đoạn Ice gặp tên châu Á nào đó, sinh ra cái cặp gần-như-không-hint-vẫn-được-ship-nhiệt-tình :)) Mình đi follow bạn đây, và Tumblr mình vẫn chưa có gì cả, chỉ là do ngại đăng :((

+Hαrά.π Well, I can tell you my version: Anko and Norge were goodchidhood friends, they graduated together and married each other (which I think is very cute). For some reason Norge dissapeared, maybe he went to war and died (?) since there was a silhouette of him holding a rifle. As for Anko, he was devastated. He then made a robot which is Iceland to make himself less lonely. However, since Iceland was a robot he didn't have feelings or as this AMV says --> "soul-less" Anko tried to create a soul for Iceland, which he worked on all his life, until he died (this is a Human!Denmark AU). But one day, the program accompished and it got downloaded in Iceland's data. He then started criying and felt things in his chest, for he has feelings now. But beacuse the "soul"/"heart"/"feelings" file was too big, he started crashing. Just before he shut down, he sent a message to hismelf in the past, which was a 'thank you' song for Anko. That song brought tears to Anko's eyes and kinda fixed the "heart" prgorgam for his old self. That's when the future robot Iceland officially broke and 'died', where his 'soul' joined Norge to who know's where. I'm not sure that's how the story goes, but if you read the description, it says that the concept of this AMV is for us to decide, so I just chose to stick to the original story, the Vocaloid one.
