Kai and Loc are just the perfect duo, together, they are 1+1=3.

I think his name is Lok
Please read Lord Russells book about 1+1=2.
Kai and Loc. True OGs
Grew up watching you guys.
This truly felt like a video from the good old days of DRTV, glad you guys managed to link back up and keep working together. Perfect combination of hosts.
It’s so good to see you together again and an excellent preview.
As a bonus, I know it’s not the most glamorous area, but Woking/ West Byfleet has some great spots and you’re putting them back on the map; making, well me anyway, proud to be a resident 🦁
Voice Coil Motors are in fact from audio equipment! They work the same way a speaker does. They're generally very fast and capable of very precise movements.
Thanks Kai, FYI, the Sony 24mm f1.4 GM lens is compact and only 67mm filter size also with linear motors. . Cheers
I love the throwback to your DigitalRev days. Those videos were an important part of how I learned about photography and camera gear (along with several other channels). Plus they were always so fun to watch!
Kai and Loc teaming up will always bite me in the nostalgia. My favorite camera buddy duo! 🖤
Sony's 24 35 and 50 f1.4 are also 67mm filter thread. You can also use the aperture ring for photo with or without click.
But Sony has one less multi function ring
"Thank you Canon for giving us your skin." 🤣🤣🤣🤣
love to see that you both still natural unlike 99 bloggers who ruled out how to pretend for themself
I found you from the Canon C70 review. You unintentionally got me to buy it. This is me thanking you. Now, do I need this new RF Lens? 😂
Dynamic duo back again
Speaking of DigitalRev: I'd love to see you walking around in the city again showing us all the nice places while using the most unfitting gear for shooting the surroundings. Or so... :D At least there are very different places to go to than there were in Hong Kong.
But looking at the price of the 50mm 1.4 VCM... adapting the Sigma 50mm 1.4 Art suddenly becomes even more appealing than it ever was. I'm not really expecting a more affordable version of the Canon 50mm 1.4 right now.
Although I love my r6 mark ii and my entire lineup of RF lenses, I fully agree that the new plastics and finishes Canon uses "mark" up easily. I put that in quotes because the lenses don't actually mark up. It's dead skin cells from your fingernails being left behind on the lens. It looks like it's scratched, but you can easily wipe the lines off and it's good as new. But, while you are using it, the lens looks all marked up. Those old EF lenses were magnesium-alloy tanks that never ever marked up. I do miss that.
I'll wait for the 10yr depreciation
I’m glad Kai giggled when lok was talking about having blackboards
I wish they came out with an 85mm VCM, I'm sure they will eventually, but to round out the set having 14mm, 85mm, 135mm VCM would be a dream
And there I thought that the RF mount would allow for shorter lenses, and now a 50 1.4 is way longer than the EF version 😢
Lol that driver absolutely smoked his clutch at 14:33 !
You fullas are cool!! From the Hauraki in Aotearoa, New Zealand. I like how unapologetic you both are!
Waaaauu I want to see 2 best guys Kai and Loc. Realy love them from Turkey
You are the internal focus duo.
Sat in that very table having a good chuckle at cars on that bridge before. Good times! £3600 feels a lot for that lens mind!!
Love my razor sharp F2.8 / 200mm "black lens" from back in the day...
この二人が大好きです!

That part when they just randomly helped out on the camper was epic.
they didn't help the camper van out
I thougt I saw Kai on the far left behind the van around 15:10
@@Patatasx ah my bad , i thought you meant the other van that struggled from the other side of the bridge earlier in the video. ha
Took Canon 6 years to bring essential 24/35/50mm 1.4 lenses. wow!
Canon is going to Canon! 🤣
It should be 24/35/50/85 and Ricoh is still nowhere near that since 2016 :) so Canon does a bit better anyway.
Sony is not really faster. 2013 for a7, and 24GM in 2018, 50GM/1.4 in 2023....
@@zegzbrutal The difference is Sony already has a vast selections of lenses, not to mention its 3rd party choices
@@zegzbrutal 50mm f/1.4 is a sequel to the ZA, so actually it's Sony's 2nd attempt
Best review location! Loved it
I just can't imagine spending $1500 USD for the 50mm when Nikon is making a $500 f/1.4 version...and a f/1.2 that's the same price. I just don't get Canon sometimes.
Nikon was/is also making 50mm 1.4 g for dslr that was cheap, and 58mm 1.4 that was/is expensive.
You can’t just judge the price by aperture i guess. Nikon is cheaper than Sigma for example, on par with what would be 1.4 Samyang/Viltrox? Isn’t that more weird? 😀
Btw i as amateur would always prefer Nikon for 500$, i have no doubt it is good enough for me, but even if not, i would just pick 1.8 lens, would never pay 1500eur for a prime, or even zoom for that matter. But i doubt the lens is as good as Canon for 3x the price?
Gone are the days when a Canon 50mm f/1.4 is a reasonably-priced way of using a fast prime 😥
@@KaiManWong you can still use it, it is even cheaper now😀
@@KaiManWongI bet EF 50 1.4 and RF adapter is still probably smaller and lighter then the new lens 😂
Saying that they do an RF 50 1.8 which is cheap, small and light. Wonder how good it is compared with the old nifty fifty?
I guess that when the 70-200mm f/2.8 uses the same housing as the 24-105 f/2.8 this may mean the white finish is applied over the black base color in the production process explaining the 5g extra weight...
As in, the black model is probably just black and the white model has to be painted? I can see that.
Do a reunion with Alamby, you guys! 😊
Best team ever!
The main advantage of black is that in some places the security will accept a black lens, but not a white lens, because "professional" camera equipment is not allowed and they think that professional lenses have to be white. In other situations it is an advantage to look more professional. So if you have the money, it might make sense to buy both colours.
or just get black...
the definition of OG's
You should do some mugs looking like that lense and put them in the merch store :D
ALL I know is thank the MAKER ABOVE for the EF to RF adapter because once I do jump to a RF body, ALL of my lenses will be the EF variant...except for the 28-70mm F/2 choade boy!
At the bridge? Where is that location. You guys did an entertaining quick Wednesday review. How’s that 70-200mm compared to their existing external zoom lens. You two always do great together. Thanks for sharing.
The Anchor at Pyrford lock
Uh oh, watch out for the Caravaners 😂 love that
6:35 I thought the reason why Canon called it Ultrasonic/USM is because it is silent, as it was founded way back when AF motor used to be loud and screechy like that old nifty fifty does.
Not really, USMs are just motors that actually do vibrate Ultrasonic for real.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultrasonic_motor
And voice coils are basically what drives loudspeakers.
usm isnt silent though
the nano usm which is the quieter variant of usm still makes quite audible ticking sounds when focusing w/ af-c, and the ring type usm lenses make much louder whirling sound when focusing
Is that the Top Gear trio in the background trying to deal with that caravan?! 😅
These new lenses (35, 24 vcm, 28 pancake) are super distorted in RAW and are designed for digital correction from ground up. I heard you can't even disable the corrections. Not sure if they are corrected in Canon's RAW video. Would be insane if they correct them in RAW video.
Been watching your vids since back in the day.. I often paddle (stand up paddle board) to that pub 😂
I hope ... more than million subs ... soon ...
Very nice from the best commentators.
You guys sure age well like a great wine you just keep getting better. Love your content. Peace.
Dave's shout out was hilarious haha
just like the good old days !!!
CANON is KING! Always has been and Made in Japan! 💪
Now it is time for Nikon to add an RF-suffix to their lens names.
just bought a used 5D mark 3 in great condition as my first camera, and its comes this week. Cant wait. Anyone have a suggestion for a good first lens to buy? Was thinking about a 50mm 1.4
Can't go wrong with 24-105 f4L tbh.
If you want a 50mm F1.4 for that camera, I would go for the Sigma 50mm F1.4 Art over the Canon EF 50mm F1.4. The Canon lens is just not great at it's widest apertures, usually needs stopped down to F2.8 or so to clear up the CA and fuzziness it has at wider apertures. The Sigma lens is sharp all the way through, but it is more expensive. Honestly, the Canon lens is one I quit suggesting once the F1.8 STM model was about the same at the same apertures (both do much better at F2.8), and since the F1.8 is so much cheaper I just suggest that as a budget 50mm unless the F1.4 can be had for about the same price.
Another good suggestion in the budget class for a good and useful lens is the EF 40mm F2.8 USM pancake lens. Pretty sharp all the way through, good useful focal range, I think they can be found used for around 100-130 USD these days. Nice little lens, just not as fast as those 50mm lenses.
As already suggested, a 24-105mm is a good starter lens for full frame users. I personally like the SIgma version the best on the EF mount, but the Canon versions are so cheap now on the used market that it would be hard not to suggest them. The 5Dmk3 isn't super demanding as far as lens resolution goes, so either of the Canon models will be alright, the Sigma lens is just a fair bit sharper in just about all cases.
@ Ty man
Loc, Blackboard comment hilarious. Something only we know 🙂
Great Conversation 💯
brand is Kai's glasses..2 diamond shapes?
Good Lens!
Do I see Canon with manual f/stop select again? 🎉
Was the "tac" sound at 12:43 the sound of snapping into focus? Because that was LOUD.
The 70-200 f/2.8, now available in stealth mode 🥷
12:03 Sooo there'll be an X-M5 vid coming up?
Yes, coming real soon!
That ending though
Where's your jacket from Kai?
Great duo.....😂
Ah.. but how does it stand up to my yongnuo 50mm 1.8 (attached to my mighty eos 300d)?
is black version longer?))
Still support you. But it’s funnier last time in HK and more watchable.
Best combination
The not-so-nifty fifty's are taking over. At least Canon have a nifty little 50/1.8 unlike Nikon and Sony.
Count down for how long into the video until Kai pretends to fumble with the lens….
Maybe Canon wants to cater to pros only going forward?
u place the object too close to the lens thats why it doesnt focus cause it is out of its minimum focus distance
I mean i think ill trust the guys with almost a million subscribers. surely they know what they're doing.
Wow, they're doing what Sigma has been doing for ages
Erm what the sigma
And Sigma does it better, omg...
@@EdvardKALEN And cheaper
And still canon outsell sigma...Omg...
@@shade599 are you dumb or what?
That bridge can be difficult…
Another fun filled episode! Gotta be honest tho the RF lenses are making less and less sense for me now. Size and weight aside, the prices are simply outrageous. Recently I got rid of all my RF lenses (I say all, there was only one 28-70 chunker boy) and just adapting old EF lenses. I'm so much happier now. And I question my mental state when I bought the chunker boy new, when everything else of my rig was pre-owned.
That's EXACTLY what I plan on doing once I jump up to a RF body...adapting all of my EF L series lenses and buying the CHONK that is the RF 28-70mm F/2!!!
I had a look at the new 50 1.2... it's miles heavier and larger than the old 50 1.2!
@@obsidian00 yeah I mean the lens was absolutely fantastic especially for stills. But I still think it lives more comfortably on a tripod or at least a monipod. And it is a pretty sweet time to get this thicc lens now, new or used, the price is still idiotically high but is lower nonetheless. In terms of image quality I seriously couldn't tell them apart, the L lenses from 20 years ago really age pretty well. I'm even adapting a Mamiya sekor lens made in the 80s and the image it renders simply blew my mind.
@@FrontSideBus the weight and size of RF L lenses, man I really don't know what to make of it😂
Wow first time to be here within the hour of the video to be posted!
I hope canon would make an asian version of this 70-200
+1 For two-minute-thursday!
Sonic womb!
funny as always, but the reviews get worse every year because the guys don't really seems to be very interested in the product. It's as if they don't do any research these days. But hey, it's still entertaining and I love Kai's voice.
This new lens from Canon doesn't cover the entire sensor of the camera. What?
Give it a while. Somebody will come up with a mug made from a dummy lens. Count on it now.
It exist since atleast ~20 years ago😀
I want to see a copy of this hanging in the Tate.
wowzers
I have an EOS 90D, and the marks left by the tops of your nails by the grip/lens mount is ridiculous. Lenses too suffer from specs.
How come you guys look pretty much the same? I look at photo's of myself back in 2010 and I look like a complete ruin today in comparison 😂 Dinosaur 5D4 user 😂
Why don't they just educate themselves on the technology used for the lens focusing motors?
WHY ARE THEY ALL SO MASSIVE 😂😂
Larger glass elements = more light = same f stop at different zoom ranges. It’s just physics.
Let me guess “too expensive” 😅
Il 50 1.4 RF è troppo grande rispetto ai corpi R. Speravo fosse più compatto.

The R5 is ashy
i miss your goofy sides from DigRev... chuck a camera down some stairs or set fire to some stuff. be creative like back when you made us fall in love with your content.
