Well done Andrea, a beautiful Northumbrian folk lullaby
Thank you so much!
Old Housemate!!! :) I was just looking for this song and happened to stumble upon this performance! Hands Down this is the Best Interpretation and most gorgeous Voice I've seen on the RUclips! Keep on singing! Cant wait to see what you do with your future!
Aww thank you so much Naomi! So nice seeing your comment here!
Wow. Just beautiful... Wish they had better mic tho
Thank you! Yeah, technology has come a long way since then! Lol
Interesting to hear this traditional folk song sung in a classical manner, very beautiful, but it does always strike me as strange when American's will make proper Geordie pronunciations like kye for cow and bairn for baby, but pronounce it night for neet. Canny at neet.
It may have something to do with how Britten transcribes the language in the score (he spells out kye and bairn, but "night" appears in its usual spelling - so our American heads wouldn't question it...)
I felt the singing was really good and harp played really well but didn’t enjoy the harmony of the two. Felt like harp was playing music for a different song
