Watch 'Secrets of our Food: The Hidden Ketchup Chronicles' here: • Secrets of our Food: T...
What are the decision-making mechanisms among the Agri-food Industry, European institutions, and the scientific community? Who decides the agriculture of tomorrow? Who decides the price we have to pay for it?
The documentation discusses the practices of giant industries, focusing on the agrochemical industry and the controversy surrounding regulation, transparency, intellectual property rights, and the use of pesticides. It argues that regulation is vital to prevent misuse and that corporate profits have been prioritized over public safety. It raises concerns about a possible lack of transparency, stating that although industry insiders state they are open to full disclosure, intellectual property rights often prevent this.

Learn how to grow your own food. It’s the only way to have true food security. Once you start growing it your life will change. Then you start learning how to preserve it and you’ll see that you can’t possibly eat all that you’re growing and then you start sharing it. And those people suddenly realise what real food tastes like and then they want to grow it. And the whole time you’re ignored this industry and gotten a million times happier simply through the process of growing your own food. You can literally grow food anywhere if you use your imagination and even more if you do as part of a community.

As a homesteader, i feel as if there are 2 parallel ways of food production. Its a sliding scale between the 2 but id roughly divide it between big agg and family farms/homesteads. The thing is, imo that the big agg, has through lobbying of politics created a environment that deters small holds from competition. Since eu, it is illegal to sell any rumenent animal meat that has not been stamped by a vetenerian and a licensed slaughterhouse. This is a huge issue. For me to sell my lambs, that have grown their whole lifes on pasture around my home. I need to pay 100e per head to have them shipped hundreds of km, and to be slaughtered, to be shipped back to me so i can sell them. Imo this is both ethically and ecologicaly wrong. If i was to sell the carcass to the store, id recive 3-5 euros per kg. In the store it would then cost 30e/kg to the consumer. In the same store lamb from nz costs the same. I find this very disturbing and makes me not want to participate in the food industry. Hence id recommend ppl conserned with their food for economical, ethical and ecological reasons to group together and start growing their own food.

Here in the US, more states are beginning to set legislation that regulates small farmers differently than large conglomerates. I am extremely fortunate to live in a state which is "farmer friendly" and small farmers here regularly sell out at farmer's markets. There is such a large demand for "normal" (non-industrialized) food that there is typically a waiting list for animal products. Big Ag is doing its best to try and remove all food choices from Americans, so that we can ONLY get our food from the Big Ag industry, but consumers are pushing back and demanding food that doesn't destroy the environment and make people sick. It's a slow process, and it's only a small segment of the population, but it is a GROWING demographic, and eventually will hit a tipping point where the majority of people reject this disastrous ag model and Big Ag is forced to change.
