I'm french and i didn't know the story of this car but i recognised the wheels of the Renault 4cv. The Renault 4cv has been a lot used like a racecar. Jean Rédélé the founder of Alpine compagny used a Renault 4cv in a way to create the first Alpine, the Alpine A106. I hope that this car could be restored one day.

Thanks a lot. We’ve got this one on our restoration list for sure, but there are others ahead of it at the moment

Thanks for the kind words. There’s always something interesting lurking behind the interesting car we’re focusing on in any given video haha

Hmmm in racking my brain to figure out where I got that photo. It even has Little Stinker painted on it, I’ll have to go double check…

Over 20 years ago my late father's H Mod car was discovered and I rescued it . Completely restored it back to his driving it in 1967 colors and markings. I've raced it at Pocono , VIR and hillclimbed it. It's an 800lb rocket ship.

Yesterday I got a visit from an old guy who remembers the late Ffties and Sixties cars and we discussed Renaults, Simcas, Alpines, FIATs, Porsches and many other rear engine vehicles. Although I am not really a Renault fan (some family members were), there were some models I really liked. The discussion started because I just finished restoring a Chevy Corvair and we knew that the average American guy had no idea about rear engines, aircooled stuff and manual shifting. Still I never found out why they regarded the Corvair (and strong Porsches as well) as death traps. This car seems to handle very well if you do not try to race into curves.
This cute little racer seems not only cleverly built but is also very good looking. That is something I would like to drive on a track once.
By the way I live in Switzerland.

Very cool. Lots of great American cars over there from the 1950s and 60s now. If I remember correctly, the Corvair did have an issue in the rear suspension, which I believe was corrected either after the first year or two or before they even went out to the public. Obviously, Nader’s book did the damage it did despite it not being entirely accurate

@@UndiscoveredClassicsUSA We even had assembly plants for GM and Mopar in Switzerland. My 63 Belair was Swiss assembled. The first owner was a Sowyet diplomat and my Dad bought it in 1966. I own 4 classic US GM cars from the Sixties in Switzerland and one in the States I use for vacation. By the way, my Dad worked for the biggest GM dealership in Switzerland. My other passion are old Italian cars.
There were always a lot of US cars in Switzerland. But they were extremely expensive compared to the salary of the people.
Our basic 6 cylinder Belair would cost nearly 20 000 Swiss Francs, That was more than a 2 years salary for a worker here!

Unfortunately I think they are gone completely. At least the one in Bienne, near my home. I have seen pictures where Opels, Chevies and completely different car models were behind each other on the assembly line. Even Corvairs., Buicks, Belairs Impalas, Rangers and mainly Opels were assembled there. The cars vin plate says "Montage Suisse Bienne". Those cars had different vins, paint and various other details that differed from US cars. And it is said that the build quality was significantly better than of the cars built in the USA and Canada.

    • @UndiscoveredClassicsUSA

Do you have a sense of what made their build quality so much better their the US built counterparts?

Keep in mind, many of them were in line to be destroyed in junkyards and left in fields before they came here. A building to house them all would be nice, but not feasible if we want to also keep restorations going too

I agree, he's got the speed of a carpet-bagger wanting to sell you a bottle of Dr. Doxey (see Lucky Luke comic strip)...
Would be great to watch those cars beeing restored, not beeing sold on the Tube...

Well, Geoff has an incredible depth of knowledge so sometimes I guess it just spills out pretty quickly. I’ll see what I can do about slowing down the video a hair in the future in the hopes that it helps but isn’t wonky. We’ve done videos on cars throughout their restoration as well. There are a lot in the midst of restoration and these videos aren’t for promoting the sale of any of the future projects

As far as audio quality goes, I rewatch these dozens of times throughout the editing process and tinker with the audio to get it as consistent as possible. Are the audio issues related to volume or something else? Appreciate the feedback, we’re always trying to get these videos better!
