  • A major part of your cruising lifestyle will be spent using your tender. In many of the cruising areas in the tropics, marinas are few and far between, so you will be reliant on a good sturdy dinghy for multiple shore runs. In this episode Em Bower considers choice of tender, stowage and the ways in which it can be used, from laying a kedge anchor to towing a boat or as a tug to help get into tight marina berths.

Too much bloody trouble. All that deflating and inflating and lugging outboards on an off with halyards. Use a hard nesting dingy that stores on the deck in 2 small pieces, can be picked up and put overboard by one person, fits together on the water in a jiffy and rows well. Forget the engine.

Wouldn't springing the rode also have turned you into the swell but with a lot less work?
