    Oh, I'm very aware of Steve Grossman. I studied with him in the 80s. I commend you for digging in Grossman. I find not many younger players are not aware of him. Now I will subscribe because of GROSSMAN!

    Interesting and very cool. When you're transcribing stuff like this are you analysing the theory of the licks ie; scale/chord/mode choices or do you brush that stuff out of your head in order to listen in a more natural, pure way?

    Its funny how you say Grossman is in the style of Brecker then acknowledge that Grossman came before Brecker. Which REALLY means Brecker was in the style of Grossman. Brecker is living rent-free in too many peoples minds. I think Brecker took a lot from Grossman and in a straight shoot-out, Grossman would best Brecker. Kinda like what he did to Dave Liebman on stage. Look for videos of him and dave liebman on stage together trading solos. I think Grossman was soo good ( And often smoked other sax players on stage ) that the entire landscape went full-on against him. Which is why people dont know much about him today.
