I have watched this at least 15 times and get emotional every time. One of the most underrated traditions in sports. I don't think it can be overstated how many people can't wait to watch this. The music, the highlights. Just incredible. Never stop doing it!
My guess is music rights. Rights holders will let you do some things in live broadcasts that they’ll demand large royalties for if you publish it, and sometimes it’s a lot more than your whole project is worth, because they know you have no leverage other than to take out the music. NBC probably figured it was still worth it to use this track for the broadcast (it’s a perfect track). Btw this is also why they didn’t upload the Olympic breaking/breakdancing. That music wasn’t cleared worldwide for publishing by the Olympic committee.
I always look forward to this every Olympics! About two or three days before the end, I start to get teary-eyed thinking of the montage to come. (That sounds a little ridiculous as I type it, but it's true.) I just wish they still began it with footage of the host country set to Dragonheart...
Yes agreed! I loved the Dragonheart with the images of the host country into Titan Spirit with footage from the Games. I get chills and teary eyed whenever I watch any of those montages from any Olympics
@@itsladycharlotte I actually saw that one and I found it rather weak, mainly due to the horrible music selection choice. This one uses Titan Spirit which makes it sound way more epic. Don't get me wrong BBC edited it just as good as NBC's, I liked how it was capped off with Keely Hodgkinson, but the music choice killed it for me.
I'm glad they keep Titan Spirit over it as it never gets old. It's always a great way to close the Olympics. I got the absolute chills when he said who's the greatest athlete you've ever seen and he says Simone Biles. That's something when you rewatch this 20-40 years down the line, it's going to mean a bit more to you than it does now, or even after she passes assuming you outlive her. LOL!
When NBC first did their Olympic montage set to Titan's Spirit in 2008 it was beautiful and heartwarming. They've been doing it at every Summer/Winter Olympics since and I wouldn't have it any other way. Perfect score for this moment.
NBC actually started using Titan's Spirit at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. You can actually find the ending montage from 2002 on youtube.
They showed it on regular TV after the LA Countdown show, it wasn't shown after the Closing Ceremonies program. NBC aired a Countdown to LA special after the ceremonies and showed it there.
@@btrplay Yeah, that's why most people missed it because it wasn't shown right after the Closing Ceremonies due to the special. That's what's great about RUclips, anything you might've missed on TV will be on here. LOL!
This is in no way disparaging the athletes and the amazing talent and effort and struggles they experienced. But from an editing and overall presentation standpoint, I still feel the 2008 Beijing closing montage is my favorite.
Well yeah, because it's got the most epic swimming comeback in history as its climax. Jason Lezak's anchor leg is probably the most famous American Olympic moment since the Miracle on Ice.
@@Orenjiku It's an amazing montage to be sure. I even do prefer the winter games over the summer games. But, to stay in the game, I'll call your 2018 PyeongChang closing montage with the 2012 London closing montage.
USA had a battle with China on who won more Gold medals, which they tied at the end, but due to winning more medals overall, USA ends as winners of the medals table of the Olympics 2024! 🎉🎉
Complain about being US-centered all you want, the fact is this montage is not even enough to cover every single medal Team USA won; 126 total, 40 of them gold.
Im just wondering how regular people - who are seemingly not correlated with the official source - get the rights to upload these videos? Do they have connections to the actual organizations? Do they directly work for the organizations?
Thank you for this, I wait every four years in giddy anticipation of the credits at the very end of each Olympics .London 2012 is my personal favorite of all time. ruclips.net/video/s3-jbYYavOs/видео.htmlsi=wJZev7UN5bArQGy1
NBC's montage doesn't stand up to ABC's Ode To Joy closing montages back in the 80s. Plus, NBC needs to play this at the end of the Closing Ceremonies and stop burying this in late night or at the end of ancillary programming.
This Olympics weren't it. I want to go back to traditional Olympics and family values. This was disturbing and watching a man beat a woman in boxing was it for me. Won't be watching ever again.
The Olympic montage set over Titan Spirit is one of the most underrated traditions in televised sport--A beautiful montage. Thanks for uploading this!
Probably one of the only pieces along with Silvestri's "Rudy", that can challenge John William's "Olympic Fanfare."
I literally wait for this!
If this montage doesn’t inspire you to get something done, I don’t know what will. It’s the best one I’ve seen so far!
No shooting, no archery, no taekwondo, no badminton though.

Thank you for posting this. Every time I watch it, I cry. The music is as stirring as the images.
One of the very best olympics so far
I look forward to the closing montage after every Olympics. I get so emotional, they are always so great.
Me, too!
I don't know why NBC never posts the version with this amazing music, but thank you for doing it

Thanks for posting this. I've been looking all over for this since the Paris Olympic games ended this year.
Merci, Paris 2024 and hello, LA 2028!
This is the best montage to close Paris 24. ❤
Thank you for this wonderful video.
Titan Spirit is Trevor Rabin's masterpiece. It will endure forever - a towering achievement in film score compositions.
Used by Barack Obama during the 2008 presidential campaign.
Thanks for this look forward to this every olympics

Have you seen the BBC's closing montage, that is incredible, emotional and cinematic at its best!

They did with different music.

They usually do, but they use a different audio track due to digital copyright issues
Cinematic masterpiece, really captures all the emotions of the Olympics, happy NBC keeps using it since Beijing! Still miss Bob Costas though

For 4 minutes and 48 seconds, we’re reminded what greatness is.
FINALLY FOUND IT!
Magnificent , forget the two party politics this is what America is all about , this is where legends are made 🇺🇸
BBC: we had Ed Sheeran
NBC: we have Trevor Fucking Rabin

Hopefully NBC doesn't claim copyright and take this down. You might want to cite them as the source.
Can you also download the closing montage of both the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2022 Beijing Olympics?
I've never been able to find the one for Tokyo. Does anyone know if that exists?
I hope it’s not the end of dressel I hope to see him in la in 2028
Nice montage but It's obviously USA centered. Dont forget Olympic spirit is felt by every nation. 😉
cause its by NBC, a USA company tailored to american viewers, even the BBC's montage was centered around team GB
Complain about being US-centered all you want, the fact is this montage is not even enough to cover every single medal Team USA won; 126 total, 40 of them gold.
NBC is always very USA focused in things like this, but they feature other countries a lot in other portions of their broadcasts.

Hope it doesn’t become popular 😂

Disgraceful they threw in the Male boxer who beat up all those girls to steal gold.
Eurosport one is better.
