Gaining the optical zoom and better low light quality are the features gained with the VM33. What you’ll lose in software is the ability to have crops within a framing. Meaning you ‘ll need a pan/tilt mount if you want to change your initial view. So which one is better will depend on your intended use.
i have some Questions regarding VM33. first is nearstream app doesn't have rotation option, which is most important in live straming i think. 2nd is nearstream app doesn't show internet speed, like mevo start shows how fast internet is working on app, 3rd is while streaming light is not stabling, green light blinking & it won't show red color. Please help me
Software is still the weak point of the VM33 when comparing it to Mevo. They have made great improvements since early versions but time spent testing doesn not go by fast.
Not easily yet, but with a UVC to HDMI converter connected to the VM33 then an HDMI to NDI converter connected next you can get the camera into Mevo software. NearStream is working on getting NDI added to the VM33 which will make the process much easier!
Low light: this is the camera that inspired the low light comparison I did recently. Works very well in low light. Until they get NDI added to the firmware it does not pair at all with other cameras.
Jason, would you go with these cameras to livestream a football game over the Mevo Start? I have 5 Mevo starts but I would really appreciate having optical zoom. How is the optical zoom controlled? Is it done remotely through the app? Does the VM33's associated multicam app work just as well as Mevo's? I'm thinking I could sell all my Mevo's and maybe pay for 3 VM33s.
If you have time on your side you can wait until they get NDI running on the VM33 and integrate it into your Mevo setup. One of these on a tripod and two Mevos would be an ideal setup. The optical zoom being the obvious advantage of the VM33 (it has zoom and focus sliders in the app), but it still wont give you the ability to set a view then crop into various parts of said view in software. If your network can handle it I could see the VM33 with a view from the 50 and mevos at each ~20.
I’m having all type of problems with my set of 3 VM33. I’m starting to have a huge doubt about my choice. Is it a good fit for recording and livestreaming using OBS Studio? Because mine obviously doesn’t work the way they advertise it. My image freezes every time while recording, it appears that it goes on sleep mode the indicator light turns white and blink. Do you have any idea how to prevent the cameras do to so while using them on OBS ? I gave up using the nearstream app because of my internet connection that seems bot strong enough. A little help will be very much appreciated
I have never tried these in OBS. I did have the image freezing issue in the NearStream app before 2.0 was released. Haven’t had this problem since. Is your app and firmware up dated?
I am too excited about this product. I have been brain storming about providing a live streaming service and I think this camera option is the answer to my prayers to initiating that service. Does the software allow me to have "still photo" shot as a part of the live feed? I want to open the live feed with an opening credit of sorts before transitioning to the live action. Thank you for your response.
These seem like once they get everything updated and features added they could ne the lead ones to go to.... unfortunately they're super expensive in Canada..$600 for one camera!! Thata nuts... and they don't offer a three camera set for better pricing either
@@JasonHoffmanYT ha! Well I have until Nov.11 to return the Mevos...but doubtful these will get down close in price.... How's their quality in comparison?
Hello, I started using a Mevo to stream softball. I am using a hotspot for WIFI. The mevo will stream the whole game but in game changer it is all saving about 20 to 25 minutes of the game. Is there something I am doing wrong not to have the whole game saved?
Unless you are losing your connection to GC I can’t imagine what would cause this. The Mevo software is very forgiving of poor upload speeds but GameChanger may not be. Have you reached out to GC customer support?
Still apples and oranges. Mevo allows cropping within a shot/field of view, NearStream does not. Which means it needs a pan/tilt device if you want to see more than your original shot. When NearStream gets NDI baked in it will fold in well with other cameras for a top notch Multicamera setup.
Best auto tracking I’ve tested is Obsbot Tail AIR. It doesn’t offer portrait orientation tho if you need it for TikTok. But if you have a decent smartphone you can use the Pivo Pod Max and get great results.
Which is better for softball/baseball mevo start/osbot tail/nearstream and why?
You lost sound...
Yes, the pinned comment above lets you know RUclips says I can’t monetize with this copyright free music on the video. They muted it. Thanks
Without any optical or digital image stabilization, how well does it pan and tilt, or what if the bleachers shake?
With a smooth tripod pan/tilt is no problem. But if bleachers shake the image will as well.
In your opinion, is it better to buy this system rather than the MEVO START? THANKS

I'm asking my self that same question.
@@JasonHoffmanYT is there a way to keep it running without the app open like mevo? I find the software isn’t that stable to run for a while game

Yes, you can have image overlays.
Thanks!
Very generous, thanks!
Have you use it with yolobox
I have. Most often in NDI mode but sometimes in Webcam mode via USB.
Is there a way to use the NearSTream via RTSP to use with other software? or any other method?
Yes it supports RTMP
iPhone 13 and up still beats everything in my opinion. 4k recording, best lens’s, built in hotspot, wide angle, ect.
I use mine to record on my wife’s channel often. And if your feet can be your ‘zoom’ it really is a great tool.
Good stuff!
Thanks Bruce! Always nice to see a company improve their product.

I look for 8mbps for 1080 and 5 for 720

I have the same issue, the clips arent synced up properly in GC. Ive been looking for a solution as well.
Your internet connection is not sufficient for the quality you are streaming at. Have you tried streaming in 720p or 480p
Still no NDI connectivity?
No. I look for them to be testing it after the first of the year. Obviously this is not an official statement.
Thanks
