Groups B C F and H are going to be ridiculous. And Portugal could make Group D more insane (or Netherlands could choke and it’ll be tipsy turvy). This World Cup will be great.
Fun Fact: Group H's participants were the runners up of continental championships from 4 different confederations (Europe, Asia, South America, Africa). Don't question it!
I’m going to be watching Vietnam for the time they spend, because their underdog story has been brilliant & figures like Bích Thuy & Duong Thi Van! But aside from that, I’m stoked to see Spain & Australia. US definitely has a strong chance of winning tho, wish the best of luck to Rapinoe after this.
Really good video. To your point on the USA's structure, I think the US will probably put Julie Ertz at 6 who is better at screening the centerbacks and better aerially than Sullivan (Ertz was actually their centerback in the 2015 tournament, and might have to play there if either one of their centerbacks are injured/suspended). I think having Ertz at 6 will allow them to push both fullbacks (Fox and Dunn) really far forward, although they can actually underlap quite comfortably - Dunn is a 10/8 for her club and Fox is pretty ambidexterous. Obviously it depends on their opposition, and if Alyssa Thompson comes in then one of the fullbacks will probably underlap since Thompson seems to be more effective out wide. At the end of the day, like you said the US will rely on their quality rather than positional play to generate chances.
I enjoyed very much jamaica's game against france, specialy cuz now BR is the leader of the group, I hope we go far on the competition or even win our first star with our queen Marta on the team.

male and female ? i´m sorry but you must be joking right ?! lets not forget any professional U18 national boys team from the top 100 countries in fifa ranking would win women fifa world cup with ease . with that out of the way lets say we are comparing regardless of skill disparity (which is just there and to deny it would be very ignorant) messi has 7 ballon d´ors , more than 700 goals at professional club level (and we are talking best leagues in the world and also 120 champions league goals) he has more than 100 goals for his national team , he is 2x best fifa world cup player , 3x fifa best player of the year , 4x champions league winner and the list goes on ... cr7 has similar trophy cabinet and several great players from your own country as well - ronaldo fenomeno if not for injuries would be in a debate for a GOAT for sure .
Thank you for putting in the time to make a studied overview. Very well done! Believe it or not Lindsey Horan is a very misunderstood player among US fans. Rarely credited. It was great to see you highlight how ridiculously good she is.
probably too early to make assumptions but can you make a video on xavi's barca today and how what seems like Joao Felix fits so well and is killing it
It's really surprising to me how similar the men's teams are to the women's teams. They're different teams with different coaches but so many of them have very similar philosophies and play styles. Japan is extremely clinical and a major scoring threat even when they have less than 1/4th of possession. A good example would be the Women's Japan team beating Spain 4-0 with 22% possession. Very similar possession to the Men's version. The Moroccan women's team is also really good out of possession and great on the counter attack. Spain plays tiki-taka just like the Men's team. Germany can't get passed the group stage despite being one of the favourites just like the men's team. The Netherlands defends really well yet can score goals pretty easily just like the men's team. Those are only the teams I've watched but their is probably more similarities to other country's men's and women's teams.
Australia winning this World Cup could be one of the greatest underdog stories in sporting events aside from Japan's 2011 triumph and Leicester City's Premier League 2015-16! But I would prefer USWNT-England Final. Germany, France, and Brazil could perform well too.

Pretty sad Brazil's got plenty of talent but no actual support for women's football. It's getting better but we are way behind those teams, hoping to get positively surprised tho 😅
Cause she’s probably in the top five best center backs with an American passport. And Becky’s injured and Tierna hasn’t hit her recovery stride just yet. Gorden and Staab for some reason have never been looked at for the national team.
As Australia was defeated twice by Adriana Leon and the CANWNT in a pair of friendlies last September in Australia, I have a hard time picking the Matildas for the top three. The CANWNT then went on to perform poorly in the She Believes Cup, and that makes the Matildas look even worse, even though it surged in subsequent friendlies and the Nations Cup.
They are ranked 10th at the moment, and looked pretty toothless against Ireland without Kerr. Maybe they are a different team with her, but I wasn't that impressed by their first game.
I think if Patri and Mapi Leon were there this time Spain would've had the best team but rn yeah Usa looks the best. There's a good mix of young exciting players and experienced ones who are very used to winning. Other than those 2 I think France and England have a chance of winning, and you should never count out Japan or Brazil, but I don't think this time these 2 teams will do well. Also the scandinavian Sweden and Norway are always tough to beat and they could go far, same for Canada and the surprise I think and I hope it can be Italy. Salma Paralluelo and Sophia Smith will be the stars. This is my superficial prediction
Absolutely agree with just about everything you've said. I'd add Claudia Pina and Sandro Panos to those who will be greatly missed by Spain; with these players they would be in a class by themselves. Without them they will be vulnerable to teams breaking into the huge space they leave behind them -- particularly the African teams like Zambia. Italy should do very well -- I was impressed by Roma and Juve over the last two WCL seasons and, if their national team gels, they can do real damage. I never watched women's football before the year of Barca's first WCL trophy -- that season I followed Barca religiously; I would argue that they play the best technical game on the planet (relatively speaking) -- better than ManChitty or the Barca men.. The game is transformed by professionalization and generation of teams by the men's clubs. The EUROs was a glimpse of what is to come and this World Cup could be the first view of what the women's game is to be.
@@mlsarchitect I also agree with what you said but comparing barca women to any men's team isn't correct because the reality is that barca women are far above everyone else, and this is because women's football still has to grow and doesn't have much competition. But I also think if Spain had everyone they'd be in a class of their own
@@acojone6110 You're right. Even by next season the difference between Barca and the rest will be small, perhaps gone. Still different styles and philosophies, but played closer to the limits of female athletes capacities. Interestingly, for me, the USWNT is the one that is already there and was there before Barca. What they lacked (and lack still) is the a sophistication of the culture of their football. This is why I never watched women's football before: they were the only ones worth watching and there wasn't very much to see (from a football perspective).
Spain are the dark horses of the tournament As for the US to win the tournament…..I’m really not sure about that. They are certainly not the team they were. They are carrying a lot of old players and have a manager who hasn’t won anything
I think the USA is still favorite, but it's not >50% or anything. I think they probably have about a 20% chance to win, which is better than anyone else's.
Spain would have a great chance to win, if Patri and Mapi were in the squad. That’s 2 of their 5 best players out because the federation chose to stick with a mediocre coach
I don't know the specifics, but these women protesting with their absence should consider that nothing would give them more power to make changes than winning the World Cup. If they did that first, then they could come home with a lot more leverage over their federation.
The most convincing treams sofar. But all throu to the next stage. Australia lost to Nigeria, Spain to Japan and US draw with Portugal. We will see later on if the do better.
im tryna submit my predictions for the womens world cup and its so difficult to not predict based on how the mens team is. im basically just going off of assumptions for this one lol
Spain's obsession with possession is what doomed them back in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Their women's, however, suffers the same like men's, expect them to suffer the same failure. England, Germany, USA, France, Sweden or at least Brazil, Australia and Japan will fight for the throne.
From a purist POV odd choices #2 & 3. You understand technical football - a look at your older videos tells me that. But if we are discussing football as purists where how a team plays the modern game matters more than the result then physical teams with average game intelligence like Matildas & USWNT shouldn't have made the list. Pep said - move the man to create space. Unfortunately in physical leagues like NWSL, A-League, WSL it is still mow down the man to create space. Although I would have taken USWNT had Mal Pugh & Macario been part of the team. 2 of their best technical brains other than Rose won't be there in this WC.
USA will hit you with both physical superiority and their game iq. For some people angered over us being good at your game, you need to find a way to minimize what they've accomplished. But that's more your weakness than theirs. They understand the game just fine.
I really hope that new teams will dominante the FIFA world cup. To shut the mount of this so called expertd😂😂😂😂any of the 8 debutant teams demolish Dave yeam
United States have dominated not because of any structure per se. They’ve always been faster and stronger than their opponents. This has changed in recent years though. The technical teams they usually just outworked, are now matching their pace and power
USA structure has two advantages: 1. Title IX is a civil rights law from the 70's that required universities to offer as many athletic scholarships to women as they do men. As there's no women's version of profitable American football, the schools had to fully fund women's teams in other sports to make up for the 85 scholarships per Am. Football teams. Women's soccer/football benefited, offering aspiring players quality training infrastructure & coaching. 2. NWSL started in 2013, and we've won both Cups since. Our league is balanced, competitive, & fierce. It's a talent factory. Other countries have started to spend on club level play, but NWSL isn't matched anywhere.

100k subs!!🥳🥳. Congrats bro! You must be very proud of yourself! I personally am proud to be able to say I've been here since your first video😌Many more milestones to come bro. do keep up the good work💪🏽💪🏽
Zambia could be the breakout team of the tournament based on their last few performances in friendlies
This includes a shock win over Germany, which saw last minute winning goal for Zambia.
Japan could be the breakout team of the tournament given that they thrashed Zambia 5-0 in the first match. I was looking out for them before the tournament, and was very surprised that this video didn't mention them, or Yui Hasegawa.
I watched a couple of the Japan and Nigerian friendlies and I think they'll surprise people; Canada are being slept on too.
please do more content on this during the world cup!!! thank you for this video!
Good watch Sir, thanks. Don't really have the knowledge of the Female Game.
Was worthwhile.
Regards & best wishes sent from Western Scotland.
really wish you featured the Japanese and norwegian national teams as honorable mentions. 2 positional play darlings, with tactically and technically astute players across the pitch.
great video nonetheless fam. cheers
🎉 Tomorrow is will mark 1 year of existence of this Channel. And 100,000 "organic" fans of your work is definitely sign of your achievement. Good job, Purist! We appreciate it!
I don't think likes alone will justify your effort, but it's high time someone addressed women's football, which is making a lot of progress.
great video, please bring more stuff from womens wc
I like it, looking forward to this world cup :D
im glad this channel grew, i remember watching the first couple barca videos and that's what got me into the channel, congrats man !
Of course we want to see more.
@@ezraezra2928 ~~Morocco won~~. Huh. Nevermind.
Please do an analysis of the PH Women's National Team "Filipinas" coming in as a first time World Cup Qualifier, looking forward to this!

red bear who is this person? No one has ever heard of him .
Please could you do a video about the tactical evolution of luis enrique and what to expect from him in the champions league

Thank you for covering the World Cup.
I enjoyed very much jamaica's game against france, specialy cuz now BR is the leader of the group, I hope we go far on the competition or even win our first star with our queen Marta on the team.
Your comment didn't age well 😅😢
Canada always has a good squad. But, there are so many talented teams this time around. Women’s football is just getting better and better.
Good video! Hope to see more of the women’s game as I’m trying to watch more of them too
Good video, not because I'm Australian as I'm interested in other countries progress in the world game, I'm wanting upsets and surprises in some match ups, i am waiting for it happen, it's exciting and where you come from its going to special to watch as i feel it's going to memorable to all countries ,good luck to all fans and countries, let's see who is the best!
I’m a woman, love football and your channel, nice to see people interested in Woman Football!
This is the last world cup of the greatest football player (male and female) alive, Marta! I want to watch every second of it, of course I am brazilian I do have a bias. In the friendly games you could see so clearly how the whole team changed when she was on field.
male and female ? i´m sorry but you must be joking right ?!
lets not forget any professional U18 national boys team from the top 100 countries in fifa ranking would win women fifa world cup with ease .
with that out of the way lets say we are comparing regardless of skill disparity (which is just there and to deny it would be very ignorant)
messi has 7 ballon d´ors , more than 700 goals at professional club level (and we are talking best leagues in the world and also 120 champions league goals)
he has more than 100 goals for his national team , he is 2x best fifa world cup player , 3x fifa best player of the year , 4x champions league winner and the list goes on ...
cr7 has similar trophy cabinet and several great players from your own country as well - ronaldo fenomeno if not for injuries would be in a debate for a GOAT for sure .
Even Marta herself would disagree with you
I love watching your videos. Let them come often ❤
Thank you for putting in the time to make a studied overview. Very well done! Believe it or not Lindsey Horan is a very misunderstood player among US fans. Rarely credited. It was great to see you highlight how ridiculously good she is.
I don't understand that either. She's a badass on defense and offense.
I have fiver on Spain since last month! great vid
That’s a good bet
You know that half of their players walked out in protest way before the start of the tournament, right?

thank you so much for covering women's football, it's really on its way 😊
I'm going to the West Ham vs Totenham game, as well as working at the China vs Denmark game. Can't wait to compare the two matches!
probably too early to make assumptions but can you make a video on xavi's barca today and how what seems like Joao Felix fits so well and is killing it
It's really surprising to me how similar the men's teams are to the women's teams. Those are only the teams I've watched but their is probably more similarities to other country's men's and women's teams.
the salma and aitana shoutout worked so good lmao
No mention of Japan or Yui Hasegawa? I reckon they are dark horses for the tournament.
Nice!
Great video 👍
Thank you.
nice summary
Congratulations on 100k subs on RUclips
Watching this after Spain won the WC
Australia winning this World Cup could be one of the greatest underdog stories in sporting events aside from Japan's 2011 triumph and Leicester City's Premier League 2015-16!
But I would prefer USWNT-England Final. Germany, France, and Brazil could perform well too.
PLEASE CAN YOU MAKE A VIDEO ABOUT DE ZERBI AND BRIGHTON STYLE OF PLAY
Our Panama team is going for the first time so looking forward to that !!!
What's a balanced style of possession and counter attack called?
Thoughts about African teams in this world cup?

Glad that they made it. Good experience for them. Chance? None. Usa , Australia , Euro teams will beat them. Simply footballing knowledge and skill.
I would argue Zambia has the best counter attacking, but because rhey are African No knows this.
They have 3 of some of the fastest women in football.

Pretty sad Brazil's got plenty of talent but no actual support for women's football. It's getting better but we are way behind those teams, hoping to get positively surprised tho 😅
They have my respect for not doing the WC in Qatar and changing it to December
what do you think about Alana Cook? I still dont understand why she was called up
Cause she’s probably in the top five best center backs with an American passport. And Becky’s injured and Tierna hasn’t hit her recovery stride just yet. Gorden and Staab for some reason have never been looked at for the national team.
@@janthony21 Casey Krueger is available and I think is more versatile.
@@machellovelivelife658 I'm more perplexed why Emily Sonnet made this roster. She's a terrible defender.
Bro No Zambia??? They are very exciting their only weakness is their defense
España 🇪🇸
Japan seems strong
Watch out for Zambia.
Another team is COLOMBIA & Their young PHENOM LINDA "WONDER WOMAN" CAICEDO...❤️⚽️🇨🇴
❤❤❤
Australia?
@@1o1neymar_ they're surely a contender but I know less about them
Absolutely agree with just about everything you've said.
I'd add Claudia Pina and Sandro Panos to those who will be greatly missed by Spain;
with these players they would be in a class by themselves.
Without them they will be vulnerable to teams breaking into the huge space they leave behind them -- particularly the African teams like Zambia.
Italy should do very well -- I was impressed by Roma and Juve over the last two WCL seasons and, if their national team gels, they can do real damage.
I never watched women's football before the year of Barca's first WCL trophy -- that season I followed Barca religiously;
I would argue that they play the best technical game on the planet (relatively speaking) -- better than ManChitty or the Barca men..
But I also think if Spain had everyone they'd be in a class of their own
@@acojone6110
You're right.
This is why I never watched women's football before:
they were the only ones worth watching and there wasn't very much to see (from a football perspective).
Great video. I love it. Keep it up. I will be remised if I don’t mention that the USWNT is in for a rude awakening this time around.
Yeah, with Pugh (Swanson) out, I'm not so sure about us this time around.
Go USA! Can't wait for the games to begin. If we don't make it far for some reason, I'm cheering for Brazil.
Spain are the dark horses of the tournament
As for the US to win the tournament…..I’m really not sure about that. They are certainly not the team they were. They are carrying a lot of old players and have a manager who hasn’t won anything
I think the USA is still favorite, but it's not >50% or anything. I think they probably have about a 20% chance to win, which is better than anyone else's.
Spain are missing half of their best players due to a massive protest. Their team has basically been cut in half.
If they did that first, then they could come home with a lot more leverage over their federation.
can you do a video about whos better for barca, raphinha or bernando silva?
Personally I prefer women’s game …. They don’t have prima donnas or the arrogance the men’s game has
WOMAN ☕
That's because Tobin Heath isn't playing for the USWNT. 😀
The most convincing treams sofar. But all throu to the next stage. Australia lost to Nigeria, Spain to Japan and US draw with Portugal. We will see later on if the do better.
im tryna submit my predictions for the womens world cup and its so difficult to not predict based on how the mens team is. im basically just going off of assumptions for this one lol
i'm American, but i put down an Australia v Spain final w Australia winning in the end. USA v England in the 3rd place match.
Spain's obsession with possession is what doomed them back in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Their women's, however, suffers the same like men's, expect them to suffer the same failure.
England, Germany, USA, France, Sweden or at least Brazil, Australia and Japan will fight for the throne.
It didn't hurt them in 2010, though.
@@sebfox2194 2010 was far ago. At the time no one could handle Spain. Now find any reason to continue it.
And Colombia hehhe
not seeing any women's coverage from you after this - you should look at the Japan tactics verses Zambia and then different verses Spain - revelation
Zambia is gonna win
It is all Barca in Spain।
I really hope that new teams will dominante the FIFA world cup. To shut the mount of this so called expertd😂😂😂😂any of the 8 debutant teams demolish Dave yeam
I’m the first to watch😅
United States have dominated not because of any structure per se.
They’ve always been faster and stronger than their opponents.
This has changed in recent years though. The technical teams they usually just outworked, are now matching their pace and power
USA structure has two advantages:
