Year 1: Reed Sheppard (3rd), Rob Dillingham (8th), and 1st team AA caliper 5th yr Sr Antonio Reeves (the 3 best shooters in the draft statistically) and you have no SECT Wins and no NCAAT wins. Year 2: Cason Wallace (10), Antonio Reeves, and NPOTY returning in Oscar Tshibwe - No SECT Wins, 1 NCAAT win and got beat by K-State Year 3: POTY Oscar Tshibwe, Tyty Washington (1st rounder), Kellan Grady, Bryce Hopkins (top BIg East player after transferring out of UK) - 1 SEC T win, Beat by St. Peters Year before that 9-16..... This aint an isolated occurrence. This a pattern.
Having NBA players is nice. But ultimately at a program like KENTUCKY , you are paid 9 million dollars a year TO WIN BIG BASKETBALL GAMES. And to average almost 4 first round picks a roster, and only have 1 title in 15 years and have a 4 year stretch that he has just had is completely unacceptable. I don't care if the kids are OAD, its your job as a coach to foster a culture and develop and gameplan to MAXIMIZE that talent and WIN BASKETBALL GAMES. At Kentucky you are supposed to be winning/competing for SEC regular season titles, Winning/competing for SECT titles, making final fours and winning national championships. There is a reason they only hang banners in Rupp for titles and final fours. That's the standard. You can feed me any excuse you want about OAD, NIL, Transfer Portal but ultimately UK spares no expense when it comes to investing into their program. THERE IS NO EXCUSES FOR LOSING TO ST PETERS And OAKLAND! Kentucky don't hang banners for NBA players or lottery picks. It's gonna be so fun to watch this "stacked" Arkansas team come into Rupp Arena and play against Mark Pope and "inferior talent" and get his ass beat.
