In 1984 my parents were in London Thanksgiving week. Imagine the surprise when a week or so after they returned home this Special appeared on television. The memories were so fresh that parts of the Special were like watching a home movie. I recorded it that year and we watched it annually. They have passed on, but I still watch it.
There are many of us miss those days.
This program should be restored and ABC should setup an archive account on RUclips so that programs like this are available for future generations.
Loved Perry Como. His beautiful singing is unrivalled by anyone else. He simply was the best. Even now Christmas isn't Christmas without listening to Perry. Thanks for sharing and including my favourite song "O Holy Night".

I watch this video every Christmas since it first aired in 84. My Maternal Grandfather was from Sweden and we always had one of those little painted orange horses on our Christmas trees when I was a kid growing up. We also had a Tomplegurba ( I am sure I spelt that horribly wrong) but it is a little elf who helps Santa deliver Christmas presents.
Christmas was a Perry Como special. Love Perry! 🥰

Absolutely lovely, especially, in these tumultuous times of wars and high inflation. Thank you for posting this on the internet so we can all enjoy the warmth and joy of the season. England is beautiful and festive during Christmas. I recognize many of the landmarks.
I likely missed this in mid-December 1984 as I was working at a department store that Christmas season, and probably was working that night. I didn't have a VCR yet...not for another year.

I remember as a child and growing up watching Perry Como's Christmas shows with my parents and siblings. Nobody makes such shows anymore. Could you please tell me what village the show was filmed at? Thank you.

The Beautiful People
This was the very first Christmas special I ever taped on a VCR. But in all the times I've watched it over the years, I keep thinking there was a goof in the editing of this because we first have a scene of Perry and AM riding the train out from London to the countryside but then after a commercial break they're back in London doing Christmas shopping. The scenes should have been reversed.
England does christmas better than any country imo. All the main traditions come from there. Christmas cards, pudding, christmas cake, crackers etc
