Jesus is the reason for the season praise the Lord
I was 10 when this aired, and if I saw it I don't remember. But I've watched lot of old 60s to 80s Christmas specials in the past few weeks, and they nearly all celebrate the real reason for the season. Nearly unheard of since probably late 80s early 90s. Society today is sinking fast, sadly.
Recently came across, and I love you so. Hadn’t heard it in so long, I never saw these when they it came out, glad I finally did though as I’m sick of cynical modern tv. These type of shows bring joy and hope.
Great Christmas special Perry Como . RIP in the New Jerusalem. I saw these specials when they came out in the 1980's, I didn't have a a complete appreciation for them. How many teenagers have a deep, rich appeal for great music, history, culture, artistry, and theology. Now, as a fiftysomething, I love watching all of Perry's Christmas specials on You Tube. Currently, an integral part of my Holiday celebrations.

A great Perry Como special that i enjoyed with my dad when i was just a 13 year old. Dad loved Perry Como and me and dad always watched his specials on ABC back then! I have this video special on VHS. I would love to find it on DVD or Blu-Ray! It is FANTASTIC that Perry celebrated Christ's birth where it all happened, in Bethlehem, Israel. Praise Jesus forever!!! Merry Christmas Dad, up in Heaven, where a celebration is happening 24/7! Merry Christmas to all and a great, better New Year!!! May God terminate the coronavirus from the earth, and people can get back to living life to the best of their abilities again!
This is so nice! I played the youngest shepherd in the story of Jesus birth.. I was 12 at the time of making this episode, living in Jerusalem, and I remember it clearly, it was a nice experience…

Concerning the three Hebrew songs sung beginning about the 19 minute mark, the first is called Bashana Haba'ah and was recorded in this country by Steve and Eydie and was later used on commercials for Israeli tourism. The second is called Chiribim, Chiribom and is actually a traditional Yiddish song hundreds of years old and is most associated with the Barry Sisters. And of course Hava Nagila is the best known Jewish song ever.

I have always believed that Jerusalem should be like Vatican City.. With a Government of it's own with a council to rule it with a representors from each religion, Jew, Arab, Christian. Opened to the world.
Sadly most Islamists would never accept that. For instance, about 80% of them side with Hamas terrorists. They HATE Jews most of all, but literally everyone else is a very close second.
I saw it that first broadcast on Dec 13th 1980, sadly, the day John Lennon was shot. I taped this on VHS then. Just 4 years earlier I was in Israel during Oct 1976
