So glad you enjoyed SIX, Amy! I saw the show at the Edinburgh Fringe last year and was absolutely floored from the first minute. We dragged all of our friends to see it again on the West End and had the best girls night! 👑 Definitely historical Little Mix vibes x

Fiddler is a personal favorite of mine too! I was Golde in a production last year and I don’t think I have ever been more obsessed with a musical
Fiddler was the first (and best) musical I was in! I was only in the ensemble, but it was such an amazing cast and production. We actually won an award for best junior production in the state as well as best junior male performer and best junior female performer for our Golde and Tevye. I finally saw a professional production a couple of years ago and could still remember every word!
I was waiting for you to get onboard with Six! Isn't it brilliant! I've yet to see the show, but the cast album is amazing!

I did the same thing about Heathers I usually don’t like shows that every single teen girl likes but I ended up watching the off Broadway bootleg and I loved it. I just expected it to be so cringey. But it has one of the best scores out of all mainstream millennial musicals.
Before I first listened to the Heathers soundtrack, I thought it was basically a Mean Girls musical (id never seen the movie). Boy, was I wrong.
I had my doubts about "Come From Away" and "Hamilton", given both of their subject matters (and the fact that I am not a big fan of hip hop); but then I listened to them, and next thing I knew, I was obsessed!
Also, the video is in English, and yet the automatic captions are in Korean. In what universe does that make sense?

I'm always nervous when they turn, for example, a movie into a musical or a book into a movie. So along with Heathers and Mean Girls, I was nervous abt Beetlejuice the musical because I love the movie soo much. I'm so glad I gave it a shot, because it's one of my all-time favorites. And out of my other 4 favorites, three of them I was skeptical about because I loved the ogs so much. Heathers, Mean Girls and Be More Chill.
Spongebob is my favorite musical ever. I love how wild and chaotic it can be.
Almost all of the musicals I stan I hated initially... Les Mis, BMC, DEH, Six, Mamma Mia, even Heathers. Now those are my jams and I cant understand why I disliked them on the first try

I was wrong about musicals in general- I originally didn't at all like musicals and I was too lazy to listen to soundtracks, but now I am the school theater nerd who can recite almost any soundtrack to any show on or off Broadway

I saw Six while it was on tour in Glasgow (and almost missed it because the queens were sick and cancelled the show the day before) and it was so much fun! The fact I almost didn't see it probably made it even more special and now I'm going to see it again with a friend which I got to listen to it and I'm very excited!
When I had no clue about musicals, I watched a cover of Satisfied from Hamilton by Working for Lemons (..?) and I thought that they changed the music.

I was just in a production of fiddler on the roof and I honestly didn’t think I would like it at all, and after being in it I am in love with fiddler and everyone was crying during Anatevka.

When I heard that Six was a musical about Henry VIII's six ex wives with a pop girl group score, I was like wow, yes, my brand. And then I watched a promo performance and couldn't tell if it was the best thing I had ever seen or the worst??? It was exactly like you said, where they looked and sounded incredible and I wanted to like it, but the lyrics and music are a little cringy and I wasn't sure if I could get past that and then I couldn't get the damn song out of my head. So I listened to the full score when it was released and I fell in love with half the songs and the other half I could have done without. But I just kept listening to the show in its entirety and now I'm full on obsessed. I'm drying to see it live and hope that the Chicago run takes off so it can play Broadway and hopefully tour! I definitely feel like it's the kind of show that the score alone doesn't truly do it justice, especially if you don't love it from the start.
I'm also a huge SJB fan but not particularly interested in The Cher Show (although I also freaking adore Jerrod Spector) and haven't heard much from anyone that has seen it, so it gives me hope that it basically converted you. 😂But honestly, Stephanie is such an incredible performer, she could do anything and I'd be on the floor weeping.
Amy I just want to thank you for introducing me to Six because I AM ACTUALLY OBSESSED with it. I made all of my friends listen to it and now we all jam out to it. In wish I could see it in Chicago. ❤

I felt the exact same about Six too! I thought the pictures looked amazing and I listened to the music and didn't really like it. Skip 6 months and a video popped up in my recommended and I FELL IN LOVE!! I am completely in love with it now and want to go see it but I live too far away 🙄

I did a production of Fiddler about 2 years ago, and it quickly became a favourite! I’m not religious at all, my dad played Tevye, my sister played Tzeitel and I played Shprintze, oh how much fun we had! I also watched it one night when the other Shprintze was on and I loved it!!

I had this exact scenario with Our House! We went to see a local production of it and I wasn't so sure about it since I wasn't familiar with Madness either, but I really enjoyed it. It's not anything complicated or crazy, but man was it just a blast and you could tell the actors were enjoying it so much.

I just want to say I live in the US (under a rock apparently) and I had never heard of Six until I watched this video. I just finished listening to the soundtrack and I don't think I've ever been so quickly obsessed with a musical in all my life! For about a year, 2 of my friends were going on about how much they loved Heathers, so I listened to the soundtrack but didn't really like it. But last month I watched a video of a high school perform it...and now I love it! It just shows how you can't judge a show on it's soundtrack if you don't know the context of the songs!

In Chicago it is also in a pretty small venue the Chicago Shakespeare theater where it is is really small and is like 500 seats at most (I haven’t seen six there I want to but I did see a mid summers night dream there and it was amazing)

Originally after all the hype you created around it, I blindly bought tickets to see the Grinning Man, I tried to listen to all the youtube covers of the songs (about a week before I was meant to go) and absolutely hated them from the get go, but was just hanging on to the hope that the visuals would make up for the seemingly terrible songs.
Got into the theatre extremely pessimistic but honestly came out with it in my favourite top 5 musicals of all times.
The cast recording that came out after it’s run really did it the justice I don’t think the original youtube covers could.
Absolutely adore everything about it now, all songs included, and am gutted that it probably won’t come back. 💛
six is hands down my favourite musical at the moment and it was their westend live performance that made me fall in love for 2 reasons
one: they had met the day before they performed at Westend live
two: the girl that played Katherine Howard ( Grace Mouat) was at that point the only swing in the show.

So funny about Six because my boyfriend was the exact same, when I was playing the album and Haus of Holbein came on he was like nope.. I’m out! And then I dragged him with me to see it and he was LIVING during it! I think you just have to fully submit to the self-aware/ fully taking the piss out of itself nature and just have fun! I wasn’t sure when I saw the west end live performance either but I’m so glad I saw it and am taking my mum for Mother’s Day! xx

Six is so so so so so so amazing
I came here for Six, the first show you mention is Fiddler On The Roof, and suddenly I'm remembering bits from the show that I didn't even realize I remembered.
Never seen it on stage, but my dad bought a VCR/tape copy of it when I was little (I was born in 2002, but my parents didn't buy a dvd player until i was 4 or 5) and I use to watch it all the time.
Your experience with Six is actually pretty similar to mine.
I first heard bits of Get Down, Don't Lose Your Head, and All You Wanna Do in TikTok videos (I swear if anyone gets mad at me for this...) before finding out that All You Wanna Do is from Six. I managed to find a bootleg of the show on here (I'm broke and can't afford to see it live. Plus, it was a month into quarantine) and throughout watching the whole bootleg I'm basically thinking "Meh, this is ok and all, but who the heck thought it was a good idea to make up a story surrounding the six wives of some random king?" since I'm from America and had no idea who Henry the 8th was.
I wasn't a fan of the show itself, but I did think the songs were cool, so I kept listening to them. It didn't take long for me to find out in the comment section of one of the songs, Don't Lose Your Head, that Six is based off of something that *actually* happened in real life, so i started digging deeper into the queens stories.
I think the facts that really got me interested were how Catherine Aragon fought a war while pregnant and won (badass. Sad that she lost the baby though), her daughter was the one people know as Bloody Mary (I'd heard Mary's name multiple times, but I thought she was nothing more than a horror story), Anna Cleaves slapped Henry when they first met due to his stupidity, all the crap Katherine Howard went through, and how Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Katherine Howard, and Catherine Parr are all related to each other one way or another. (If I remember correctly, Anne and Katherine were direct cousins, Jane was their 4-6th cousin, maybe even 8th, and Catherine was Jane's sister in-law due to marrying Jane's brother Thomas after Henry died)
