I love this guy, I once passed a Spanish verbal test in school speaking of Golf in Andalucia (my teacher was from there) and the only reason I passed this test is because I actually explained the upcomming of Sergio and she loved him! 😂
Great interview. Sergio was very articulate and honest. His win at the Masters was my 2nd most pleasing win in a golf tournament…..only topped by Richard Bland winning the British Masters….don’t think that’ll ever be topped.
Great pod. For whatever reason Sergio has always been one of my favorite non American golfers to watch. Young Sergio was exciting to watch!

well done Rick on an excellent interview, Sergio is a legend, Mr Ryder Cup!! i love his commitment to the Open and what he is prepared to do to play in it. These interviews with the Liv players is starting to change my mind on this Tour, will make the effort to watch more events and pick a team and stick with it!!

Hello all! Rick the content you and the team put out is so good, far and above everyone else. With that said, only complaint is how delayed it seems like so many things are. Such as this video with Sergio. Would be nice to see both a date stamp at the start of the video and also to have videos come out at least close to when they were filmed.

Bcz of Seve i love all spanish golfers but Sergio is my idol and his win at the masters is my favourite moment in golf cz he deserved it
I was there when Sergio won the Players in 2008 ! He was the nicest guy to us because we spoke spanish and displayed probably the greatest golf of his carrer

I actually gave this podcast a thumbs down because of the long commercial by Rick about Marriot Bonvoy. I don't mind Rick having some partners but keep the ads to a minimum.

Everything about LIV golf is super exciting other than one thing for me has a viewer is the TV commentary which i find very dull and the lack of player in play interaction which if put right and implemented would be the prize fun package i believe viewers would love to see. Your thoughts Rick/Guy? Keep up the great work!!⛳

Brilliant pod , there's something special about the Spanish golfers , Seve the Greatest, olazabal, Jimenez and Sergio, Coming from the UK if a Brit didn't win a tournament I'd always wanted to be a Spanish player , was so lucky growing up watching Seve at so many events in the UK , The Ryder cup made us all feel special being European, I don't think any other sport could do that ... Well done Rick and team for a great pod , and fingers crossed Sergio will make the open and Win it and one day has the chance to Captain Europe in the Ryder Cup ⛳👍

I like Guy's perspective on a new format to get people to watch. I would like to add to this and have a payout for each day.
I'm a South African and in my heart a Stingers GC fan , because they are all South African. So we have that point on the map. I always want to see how they are doing.

Went to the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles and quite honestly he was the best striker of the ball by a mile - made a completely different sound, if he had a reliable putting stoke he would have had 10 majors. He still has an Open left in him though…
Great comments from a real pro of the game. Point well made about LIV playing in parts of the world where big names dont usually go...
I don't think I've watched a PGA Tour event in a long time, however watched pretty much each LIV event since it was introduced. Mainly because you see all the player highlights and doesn't just focus on one or two groups like the PGA Tour.
Rick is spot on with questions and input during the interview. Really well done. Not a LIV fan….yet. Great part about him still happy to enter qualifying for the Open. He comes across really well in this interview.

I wasn’t quite into golf when Sergio was “at his peak” so didn’t really have an opinion of him other than that one clip of him going mad in a bunker. But he came across great in this, very genuine, funny, and a good sport. Plus he loved Bellingham so kudos to him and the RS team for setting this up. Bring on Friday
Always liked Sergio….the only time I was at Augusta was his win….really enjoyed this interview…thx

The deadline to apply for DPWT membership was November 19th, and Sergio did not apply, wonder why…
No sticky hot water here from me Rick. I missed LIV too, especially once Tigger checked out of the Genesis. Loved Hideki's final round and victory at Riviera. Maybe it's just me, but the PGA wasn't great for me once Tigger checked out. Is the PGA's success on Tiger's health/performance?
I've never been a Hatton fan until he got on my favorite golfers team Jon Rham. Now I support him and the whole team. I think that's how you become a team fan.
My all time favourite winner of The Masters...I joked with my wife on that Sunday that I was more pleased for him than he was😅. Choked me up when he holed that down hill putt.
Rick, I completely identify with missing LIV golf this weekend. I enjoy watching ALL golf, but the field in LIV is so strong now, I'm finding the regular PGA tour less of a draw - except I love watching the Canadians like Nick Taylor which keeps me following. Majors I'm all in.

Great podcast as per usual. Sergio was fantastic. A question Id like you guys to maybe ask while doing the podcast is if it's odd for Tour Pros to play without their caddie? Not as in that they NEED them but just because it's the norm. When someone is always there with you when you've golfed for the last 10-30 years it seems like that would be a bit odd? anyways, id be curious what they say!
I think you could also add wardrobe to that question in a similar fashion. As a pro (non LIV) they've played in pants and tucked in polos/sweaters etc for their whole career, what is it like for them to play in shorts and maybe even a Tee?
Just listened to the podcast and the topic of how LIV can do better with teams is interesting:
Suppose the hard part is that golf by nature has focused on the individual and yes you get star individuals in team sports but the team ultimately benefit with the trophies.
Option could be rather than events that are basically stroke play that highlight an individual, possibly add team formats similar to Ryder Cup?
Big one I suppose is the team names - some are just odd

Awesome video, amazing the difference of seeing a video of Sergio relaxed and being honest vs the image the press gives. To the Anti LIV people remember these are guys trying to provide for their families, work/life balance like the rest of us.

I like your take on 2 day golf tournament, with Wed pro am and Thursday commentary on shots during practice round. Like you two when you play. But I don't think it would happen, but maybe they could schedule one a year like that. What do you think?

Great episode. The more I hear about LIV directly (ie not via the media) the more I start to understand and like it. Exciting to be talking about the future, maybe the other tours need to give this more focus and less on the past. "The measure of intelligence is the ability to change" AE.
The media are just paid trolls, best to ignore.

They've let him use their golf course completely free for years, advertising for them for a couple minutes is the least he could do
Thursday pro am . Friday skills challenge maybe even a 3 hole score to rank the players . Then top rank gets first pick of his tee of slot down to the last placed gets no choice . Saturday one round and cut it to top 30-40 . Sunday play for the win .
The way you build a fan base is to win. Everyone likes to root for winners. The more you play your best and win tje fans you get.

Not a huge Sergio fan, I've grown on some other LIV guys (like Ian and Bryson) but Sergio has always struck me as a me-first guy

don't know about the 2 rounds for pro tournament golf. What I think we need is the world tour idea taken forward in the sort of format that Rory's suggested. Most tournaments would be in the US but more tournaments counting in different parts of the world. Top 100 would be ideal with the LIV guys able to qualify for it so the best players are competing vs each other.
PGAT coverage where you only see certain players is why I am not an avid PGAT watcher anymore. I agree with Rick who intimated the same thing about last week's event.
Top guy. These podcasts are great for the players to come across like good guys, especially the LiV players.

Guy's pitch for new broadcast ideas is great. It would put GolfChannel out of business but great for youtube style content.
I never was a Sergio fan. As I was a Tiger fan when Sergio hit the scene, he felt like a threat. In addition, the comment he made about how they would’ve handled the rain delay if Tiger was on the course didn’t help (although, after playing many rounds in wet conditions, I certainly now understand his frustration). But these podcast interviews certainly help give a different perspective that many of us don’t get to see with these players, showing they’re not really bad guys. Maybe you should do one with Rory… although, I’m not sure even Rick could help him 😂
Wednesday Pro-Am great. Thursday practice round awesome. Friday, do a 9 hole skins game for charity. Get 5 of the pros and bring in 5 celebrities and play 2-person scramble, skins, birdie or better, for charity. Then your Saturday/Sunday idea.
The way Sergio explained team and following your favorite team, I get it. I'd have a follow up question, you're a player owner, when you retire, do we follow Fireballs, or does the Fireballs disappear?
They stay, Sergio owns a stake in the team and that won't change unless he gives it up or sells it.
He would replace himself and move to owner role. Both Phil and Bubba addressed that in other interviews.
Rick did a good job of hiding his dislike of LIV Golf... he like most people always look for the quick hit and doesn't understand LIV will be very different 2-5 years from now than they are today. Sergio is right, this will take time and their boldness with be looked upon favorably years from now!
Rick Sheilds doesn't dislike LIV golf anymore. He and most youtubers you know media companies are owned by the Saudi's

What they should do is keep it 4 days, first 2 days are for those ranked outside the top 50 ranked players who automatically make the weekend and they play a 2 day tournament to make the weekend with top 50 making it

I think as society we wanted things faster.
I certainly think there's room to cut number of rounds down and keep majors as 4.
I do think we need to make sure we aren't just giving top 20 players all the cash though as there's plenty of excellent golfers.

I understand what Sergio is saying about the team element, but he doesn't say how LIV will get the audience to engage with this, in part, because as Rick alludes to, the teams don't yet have any definitive identity.
The only way you could forge that is to stick a pin in the map and have teams that are representative of areas in the world. The Aussie team, the Texas team, the Aussie team. That, I believe, with a bit of tinkering, could work and capture that passion from the fans.
