Close your eyes and you're in a club in the mid 50's and listening to West Coast Jazz at its best. Chet Baker is down the block playing the same song. Wonderful, and thanks to all.
Beautiful!!! So great to see Carla featured in this video! Love her tender touch on strings as well as Jan!! They complement each other very well ! Finally, Scott’s magic on sax, works every time!! Joan , thank you 🙏🏽
More than any other genre of popular music, jazz reaches across and connects the generations. That is wonderfully evident here. When I listen to Carla here, I am so reminded of the great Johnny Smith, probably one of the top 5 jazz guitarists ever. And, Scott Hamilton--one of the best jazz tenor saxophonists alive today, and one of the best ever. Not to mention a great rhythm section. I have yet to figure out how Joan Chamorro can take young children and inspire them to be first-rate professional quality musicians within just a few years--musicians who can stand toe to toe with musicians old enough to be their grandparents. Whatever the formula is, it's a winner.
rockymountainjazzfan. Look at the Video " Kids and Music" on RUclips. It's about Joan Chamorro's philosophy on jazz and how to educate and inspire kids to give the best of themselves and there are english sub-titles. As you remarked the results are there for all to see.
I think the young ones enjoy being put in a band and sometimes even in front of a band very early in their careers - rather than just having years of practice alone at home (which they have to do as well of course).
One of my favourite songs that I love to sing. Carla you are wonderful. Scott you are the man. Joan you are just the most underrated musician ever, you need to be acknowledged all over the world. Thank God for RUclips, Johnnie in New Zealand.
"Everything Happens To Me" is a 1940 pop standard written by Tom Adair (lyrics) and Matt Dennis (music). It was first recorded by the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra featuring Frank Sinatra. Carla showing her chops here. Scott Hamilton at his best! All so beautiful!
AHHH! The great Matt Denis classic, so nicely and tenderly played. He also wrote Angel Eyes and Violets for Your Furs. This is a beautiful rendition of a gorgeous song rarely played or recorded anymore. Thank You Joan for keeping it alive.
Delicious !!! - It must have been quite an honour for Scott to share solos with Carla, 'our' up-and-coming guitarist, in this intimate atmosphere. Nice work on piano by Jan. With your magic touch, Joan, it's clear now that the only way is UP !
I can't imagine what it must have been like for the students the first time Scott Hamilton stepped onto a stage with them. I would have freaked out, but they always have such composure. Carla, I am a guitarist, too. I admire you more than I can say. You are such a fine and sensitive player!D
Bravo !
Making real good use of the Jazz House. So nice, hearing these instruments 'sing' the song, with the added accents, very nice. Great job guys backing up Carla's soft touch on the strings and love to see Scott my favorite sax man.
What talent the Motis ladies have, sincere thanks to Mr. Chamorro for fostering young musicians, specially pairing them with seasoned jazz players. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🎸🎼🎹🥁🎼🎷
Man .... the very texture of the sound recording ... again 😊✨👍🏽 The nice sounds of the brushes on the snare ... I feel like Bill Evans & Jim Hall type vibe , with nice airy breath sounding Sax .... a soft Stan Getz sound (even softer 😊)... Nice Time capsule ... Sound like a real nice classic recording ... A lot of contemporary young players just don’t seem to have that type of classic finesse as I feel and hear here .... If it was filmed in black & white I might have felt like I missed something nice from the past ... ✨👍🏽 And a Special 🌹(Rose) to Carla 👩⚕️🌹 ✌🏽👍🏾
Carla Motis and Scott Hamilton evoke the lyrics of this classic through their sensitive treatment, and the arrangement is wonderful. Beautiful understatements, Jan Domènech and Pablo Ruiz.
So beautiful. And just like that Scott Hamilton is 64. All those years ago when I was a lot younger I heard a track from, of all people, Rosemary Clooney. And there was Scott with that beautiful tone.
Whooo! Carla excels in the silent pieces and settings, as it was evident in the Waldhaus 2016 and in a few videos out here - Easter Parade, to name one. This time, she shows her skills and feel in her solos, in dialogue with Scott Hamilton. Alas, I lose ground contact when they join in duets at 3:30, and the best part is when she drops her plectrum to accompany him, picking with the fingers - what harmonies, what a sound! Kudos to all players involved in supporting this fine moment in the Jazzhouse!
wow, a great video to see in the morning especially during such a horrible week :) Scott always sounds so good, makes me proud to be a saxophone player
Joan, I would love to see even 10 minutes of a class in which your students learn how to solo. Jazz improvisation is supposed to be very difficult and yet your youngsters do it so well! This song is a knockout!
Awesome. My daughter gets that same look of concentration. When she was little we called it her "office face". Well played, Carla (and everybody else).
Man ..... what still empresses me about the application of that GB10 (George Benson Signature ) guitar..... If I weren’t watching I’d think I was listening to a vintage D’Angelico or fine Benedetto arch top .... (Even though I still yearn to commission me a nice Benedetto .... I see , or hear, that I shouldn’t underestimate my own GB10 either 🙏🏽👍🏽😊)
Excellent playing by all, a wonderful arrangement and outstanding production! I always enjoy the high quality of the sound in your videos. Nice solos by Scott and Carla!
Exceptionally tasteful phrasing and timing from such a young guitar player.... It's great to see Scott Hamilton being involved in the education of and performance with young musicians he's a giant among tenor player..
Man ... Still going for another round of this favorite rendition 😊.... Nice airy Sax work ... And the drums & bass are holding everything so well balanced together .... And Mr. piano - mellow Bill Evans 😊👍🏽
Excelente, excelente!!!que puedo más agregar me alegran la vida con la música que hace muchos años que escucho junto a toda esta magnífica banda tuya porque es tuya!!!😘🇦🇷✌️🤘💋🤩💝
Beautiful! Soothing. Thank you Joan for all you are doing to teach the coming generation the beauty of jazz, and for recording such beautiful renditions. Bella música! Gràcies!
F spike. great comment... but . she already is.. :-) .. hitting the right target notes.. perfect syncopation... and superb intonation..and lots of space... and very original .. she's unique
Very great Carla Motis, the eternal accompanist, always setting the rhythm, tireless, always in the background playing so that her companions could shine. The guitar, the only instrument that has not rotated in the SAJB almost since its foundation: it has been Carla and nobody else, just her. Always in the shadow of her brilliant sister Andrea, rather more shy, introverted, but with no less talent, sooner or later she had to explode. And she has already done so, and for the last three years you can see videos of her as a soloist, even alone, on youtube, which demonstrate her extraordinary level. So many years as a pupil of maestro Traver had to pay off, of course. In this recording she is fantastic, demonstrating the stature of an international crack. Scott Hamilton, as always, brilliant, one of the best saxophones in the world. Jan Domenech and Pablo Ruiz, outstanding, two products of the Chamorro factory. And the maestro on double bass, of course. A beautiful interpretation of a beautiful theme.
Just had to listen to this rendition again Just this morning ..... I’m becoming more & more a fan of the wonderful young guitarist .... And really, just about everything I just happen to stumble or come across presented by this presenter &/or RUclips channel ...etc.... Makes me wish I could become a kid again , or with they were around & and I could have been connected with such fine directions when I was a kid .... or is it just true times we live in these days.... with all theses so young geniuses all over the place .... And to play with such seeming maturity & emotional understanding to play so ..... I feel like I could be listening to the likes of Jim Hall ...🙏🏽👍🏽🌹
In September 2017, my Barcelona tour itinerary happened on the same week of the Barcelona Jazz Festival. So instead of watching the traditional spanish dance prepared for my tour group, with my spouse, went to see their concert in Sant Andreu and got to meet Joan and a few of the students before and after the concert. It was an awesome experience to see them live. I would come back if my travels take me to that part of the world again.
Carla Motis’ phrasing in how she just played the melody alone even, before she plays her nice improved solo so well balanced & in contested , In mood & lines , is softly captivating & moving ... Just right for the mood of this rendition, with the type of texture of the sound ... Everything NICE ... Sound ... performance ... arrangement ... every body blends well .... Seemingly so natural 🙏🏽✨👍🏽
Bravo Carla! So good to see her taking center stage. I really enjoy these "practice" session videos, but wish they'd run past the end of the tune for a bit; I'd really like to listen in on the interaction that follows.
She is beyond anyone's wildest imagination. Her rhythm playing is it very essence of Freddie green, and her solos have the sound of grant green! Bravo!
¡Qué delicia de interpretación, el conjunto perfecto, un arreglo maravilloso y Carla su guitarra es simplemente un espectáculo, usted está maravillosa, su técnica, su suavidad al tocar, continúe siempre estudiando! 🎸🎷🎼🎼
What an enjoyable arrangement with great musicians. Nice playing Carla. Kept pressing repeat. Now I"m too relaxed. Why did I listen to it in the morning?
It's very intimate quiet piece of evening Jazz that put everything at ease with this 5 piece band put out such great tune. Carla's hollow body guitar just gives great mellow sound with confidence.
Underbart. Vilka artister Joan utbildat! Jag ka se på Joans kroppsspråk att han är nöjd med Carla. Wonderfully. What artists Joan trained! I can tell from Joan's body language that he is happy with Carla.🥰
Close your eyes and you're in a club in the mid 50's and listening to West Coast Jazz at its best. Chet Baker is down the block playing the same song. Wonderful, and thanks to all.
What a beautiful way to wake up.
Thank you.
Beautiful!!! So great to see Carla featured in this video! Love her tender touch on strings as well as Jan!! They complement each other very well ! Finally, Scott’s magic on sax, works every time!! Joan , thank you 🙏🏽
Sweet and mellow. Thank you Joan. Some serious talent in that Motis Family! Scott just wow!
FABULOUS, JUST FABULOUS

Gotta love the Motis family!
Beautiful, Carla and all of you! I really enjoy these Jazz House videos.
Absolutely beautiful. The mood was set and the ending brought tears to my eyes. The POWER of music to touch our emotions. Wow!
Thank you all so much. This you gave me on a day when I needed such beauty.

Carla is amazing in her special way. Always a show of taste and respect for the whole. 100% playing the music and never the ego.
waw....relaxing....so beautiful music....thanks to you..joan chamorro and the motis family
Delicious !!! - It must have been quite an honour for Scott to share solos with Carla, 'our' up-and-coming guitarist, in this intimate atmosphere. Nice work on piano by Jan. With your magic touch, Joan, it's clear now that the only way is UP !
Wow this is stunning rendition, thank you for uploading this performance of my favourite standard of all time
Carla is fantastic! Hangin' in there with a world class musician. She is a star....
How Lovely to see 'younger sister' take centre stage!!!
I can't imagine what it must have been like for the students the first time Scott Hamilton stepped onto a stage with them. I would have freaked out, but they always have such composure. Carla, I am a guitarist, too. I admire you more than I can say. You are such a fine and sensitive player!D
Wonderful interpretation. Carla - very touching! Enjoyed Scott' s soft and tender batotone. Thanks to all of the group.
It's nice to see Carla featured. Scott makes everything and everybody sound better.
Beautiful, just beautiful. Thank you for sharing, this will be getting played a lot.
Bravo !
Very mellow arrangement. Carla and Scott make for a very smooth number. Way to go Joan!!
Making real good use of the Jazz House. So nice, hearing these instruments 'sing' the song, with the added accents, very nice. Great job guys backing up Carla's soft touch on the strings and love to see Scott my favorite sax man.
I love Carla’s playing. She is very beautiful. You can tell she is devoted, to the music and the art.
What talent the Motis ladies have, sincere thanks to Mr. Chamorro for fostering young musicians, specially pairing them with seasoned jazz players. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🎸🎼🎹🥁🎼🎷
Nice and mellow. With your special woman with a nice fire and a glass of wine 🍷. So good Joan Chamorro. With the great Scott Hamilton ❤️❤️👍🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷❤️
Carla, so perfect, so wonderful.
how nice to hear a song at proper volume and stay in the groove ♫♫

Carla, I hope playing this makes you as relaxed as we are when we listen to it. You're really coming into your own and sounding better and better.
Carla has a gentle touch and a very nice tone on her guitar. Scotty is great as usual, so smooth!
Sure. One genius only wasn’t enough in the family!! Motis, how I love you!!
The later-in-career Rosemary Clooney was a pleasure to hear.
Carla nails it again - beautiful phrasing and feel...
Wow, just wow!! That blew me away. Scott is my favourite saxophonist and just listen to that controlled air on the final note 🎷🎷🎷👏👏
I eagerly wait for your uploads. Thanks again
I really thank you all for your all playing and music. I love your harmony of Old veterans and young professionals. Thank you again:)
Whooo! Carla excels in the silent pieces and settings, as it was evident in the Waldhaus 2016 and in a few videos out here - Easter Parade, to name one. Kudos to all players involved in supporting this fine moment in the Jazzhouse!
Perfectly played everyone, especially our adorable, petite, “Giant in music” Carla 😊
So beautiful ! So well-done, Carla !!
Watching this for the umpteenth timeI have just noticed that Carla is perched on a ladder! It doesn't seem to have affected her excellent performance!

So true! She has a reputation to smile NOT, but she does when she's relaxed - after the deed.

Excellent music and excellent sound mixing considering it was not recorded in a studio.
Stuff dreams are made off lovely regards André 👏

What an enjoyable arrangement with great musicians. Nice playing Carla. Kept pressing repeat. Now I"m too relaxed. Why did I listen to it in the morning?
One of my all time favourite songs. Thank you, lady and gentlemen!
This kind of playing fits nicely in the period of cool jazz.Great understatement.Bravo.
Sure would like to browse through all of those LPs on the shelves in that room. There are probably some hidden treasures in there!
Damn, this is so beautiful
So are the lyrics. The entire chart is a masterpiece. Written in 1940 by Tom Adair and Matt Dennis.
Gran standard de Matt Dennis. Scott Hamilton maravilloso...
It's very intimate quiet piece of evening Jazz that put everything at ease with this 5 piece band put out such great tune. Carla's hollow body guitar just gives great mellow sound with confidence.
