    Nice idea and like you I thought of it years ago and did nothing about it. I have several walking pole and monopod versions. Apart from the damaged ends, another improvement would be to improve the straps. When used correctly, the straps are wrapped around the wrist to assist the support from the pole. Those straps are the ones that look as though would cut into the flesh after a while.

    • @paulcomptonpdphotography
      @paulcomptonpdphotography  5 месяцев назад

      Thanks for sharing, yes agree straps are not in the right place, and yes needs better tips on the bottom... BUT its getting there..

    It is a very interesting concept. My question is what do you do with the extra hiking pole? Most people only have 2 hands to hold the poles when hiking, so would use, at most, 2 of the poles at one time. I guess you answered the question, though it does seem to be a somewhat awkward arrangement.
    I've yet to get myself some hiking poles, but often do use my tripod as one in certain situations.

    • @paulcomptonpdphotography
      @paulcomptonpdphotography  5 месяцев назад

      Simple you put the other on your pack, or let a friend carry it up the hill... Lets face it you are right you only have two hands but i have found over the years two legged tripods dont work very well, so it has to have three.. the idea to take off all three is to give you a mini tripod and also a selfie stick haha..

    • @Pelladhros
      @Pelladhros Месяц назад

      best as all three compressed to make one walking stick

    • @paulcomptonpdphotography
      @paulcomptonpdphotography  5 месяцев назад

      i have to agree with you, i am more interested in how other companies will take the idea, a full size tripod that has other uses would be good... if you could just take two legs off and have a way to protect your hands and the spikes well !!!!

  • @hikerdude10
    @hikerdude10 5 месяцев назад +5

    Well done infomercial Paul. I was just waiting for you to say "..but wait, if you order now you also get..." or "...operators are standing buy to take your orders...". In all seriousness, it looks to flimsy, fragile and fiddly, as well as too short to be worthwhile. Time will tell. If we actually see you using it in the field in future videos maybe my opinion will change.

    • @paulcomptonpdphotography
      @paulcomptonpdphotography  5 месяцев назад +1

      Ok so yes 100% dont trust it in wind or dont use it for your main walking poles if you hike miles... but if you are after poles and a tripod and you have to keep the weight down the 100% this is the one... i will defo be using it when i dont need a heavy tripod and lets face it having this rather than none is 1005 better... its quick strong for what it is...

      @@paulcomptonpdphotography Thanks for the reply Paul. Looking forward to more of your excellent photography videos. I especially liked the one of Milan 2w ago. So interesting how you used different camera angles when shooting the architecture and the cemetery monuments.

      @@paulcomptonpdphotography Yup, it means I'll carry a tripod when I hike now. Something I didn't do most of the time because of weight. The added weight in your bag is now pretty negligible since I like to hike with sticks anyway. 5KG will hold my A7R V with the 100-400 lens mounted. Heck even the 200-600 and the A7R V is under 5KG though it seems heavier 😐
