@@thecarpentergarden2943 There's actually less difference between a rental prospector and a bought one today. You still can't mine quant with a rental reliably. But quant is much rarer anyway.
Thank you for a very comprehensive video. My tips are to team up with other miners of good reputation. You can crack bigger rocks and, if they have their own Prospector already, get that sweet quantanium. (@17:30 you do just that) Selling the ore directly (the screens to the left when you get into the mining office) gives you money instantly, and you don't need a cargo ship to transport it to where you sell it. Possibly needing to pay rent for that ship too. (And risk adding one more crash to your statistics.) Be on the lookout for -ite and -ase ores. They are the most valuable ones but for quantanium.
About 100K total income, but don't forget, the cost is not just 51k for the rental of prospector, a player that need to rent a prospector could be a new player, so that he also need to pay like 32K the next day to rent a clutless black to transport all those, not to mention refine will need about 4K for all of those (two refine orders). Therefor the total cost to 'rental a prospector to make money' will cost something around 88K-89K (need to refill for both ship at somepoint). So that all of those income just enough to break even. Rental prospector is just a little bit better than ROC mining after all, only a little bit. (no need to prepare a fullset of heavy enviromental suit is a plus, because although ROC mining can be very safe if put it right, bugs can still blow the ship and kill us, while in rental prospector you can mining without any cloth!!! just buy 3 bottles of energy drink and 1 hotdog will be enough~ because you will only leave your ship within a station or a city. I do this all the time if I'm sure that I don't need to leave my ship outside of port or city, just run nakedly! XD so when bug happens, you lose nothing, and but people will get nothing by killing you O7)
Great video thanks! This was definitely something I was interested in doing, earning enough for a rental then using the rental to get an actual one. Glad to know its feasible!
The ROC is a better option for rental. Fill it once and you will have enough to buy a ROC then fill it 11 times with Hadanite and you can buy a prospector.
@@StarCitizenUniversal During the free fly event was fall i was able to change everything, since then i bought my own but maybe it works if you rent for longer term
Any other tips for how to maximise profit with a rental - stick them below 😃
Is this still true today ?

Hard work, but it's an honest living 😁
@@StarCitizenUniversal I don't do it because it's the fastest way to make aUEC, I do it because it's fun! Isn't that why we play games at all? 😁

Both are viable options, we did a ROC video as well recently.
@@Eminate2121 Aye - Prospector mining usually comes with a side order of frequently blowing up, especially in the early days 😀
With patch 3.17 it introduces mining gadgets. With two WaveShifts on a quant rock, you can mine it with a rented prospector. Enjoy making $$$
Cheers Aaron, mining gadgets are on the video 'to do' list 🙂
Informative. Thanks
you can change the laser and consumables on a rental
You really can't. It's locked in the vehicle loadout manager.

@@justasrandom6609 Yes, you're absolutely correct that you can modify Free Fly ships.
But not rentals, or at least not yet :-)
