You know, watching this scene, I can’t help but think about the moment during Bojack’s second interview when he says “Sarah Lynn wasn’t like those other girls,” and it cuts to PC as he does so. Princess Carolyn has gone out of her way to help Bojack here, despite knowing everything he’s done. She still stuck by his side. And it worked. But Bojack ruined it because he let the positive attention get to his head. And the moment he’s put in the hot seat, he completely dismisses his relationship with PC in a futile attempt to save his own skin. PC’s attempt to help Bojack was thrown completely back in her face. And she comes to the realization that at the end of the day, Bojack will do whatever it takes to save his own ass, and that includes throwing the people he supposedly cares about under the bus.
That moment was sad. It was sad here too when Bojack finalizes his summary “Everything falls apart and I end up alone.” and PC is standing *right there*. And when she reminds him of that fact, he flatly asks “why?” which makes it doubly sad. I think he’s sincerely asking why she’s stuck by him, there’s no hint of derision in his delivery, but it does feel like a bit of a knife twist. I’m not trying to defend Bojack, but I think he genuinely isn’t aware that he does this to the people that stick by him. In the interview or here in the office, he’s too caught up in his own image of himself to realize he’s putting others down. It’s been a problem all his life. I think he wants to stop doing that, and had made some determined attempts, but he wasn’t ready to actually make a change so he relapsed in his progress. Being made to take responsibility for his actions was important. It put him in a situation to properly address his actions; you hope that he’ll improve in the future after the series finale.
Yeah. Like he was a coward in the end, but here he was genuinely talking himself into just finally taking responsibility. Yet she still pushed him to cover it up. Sure, ultimately, he made the cowards choice. But she was enabling him even when he was fighting that enabling
@@1slayer959PC’s difficult relationship with her mother makes her want to “mother” a lot of her relationships. It’s one of the reasons why she’s so good at her job as an agent and a manager: she’s encouraging, she tries to solve problems, she knows how to present people in the best way. She can’t turn it off even when moralistically she should. I don’t think she’s even conscious of how much she does it as the show never has her focus on her childhood to the same degree it does with Bojack and his parents. It’s also tough because the opposite side of the coin of PC’s enabling tendencies are her supportive ones. Recall that in the very same evening this crisis planning session happened, PC also encouraged Diane to let go of her need to exorcise her trauma and instead write the Girl Detective stories that made her happy.
say the line, bart!

I believe PC enabled a lot of Bojack's bad behaviour because of her own unresolved issues.
Agreed
