The real problem the fans see is the officiating, which calls every touch CC makes as a foul, and then the opposition mobs her continually with few fouls called. Then standing directly in front of a ref, a flagrant foul was committed, and it took internet outrage to get the proper call. We are not blind, we can see what is going on in this league. The refs wanna make sure that CC doesn't make too big a splash and somehow discredit veteran players so they think they will put their thumbs on the scale to make sure that doesn't happen.
That is spot on. They call CC for breathing hard. Meanwhile, she is getting grabbed and bumped on nearly every possession and then getting absolutely hammered and the refs don't see it. It's the WWE. The refs are afraid of the race card so they compensate and ruin the game. Actually, this has always been a problem with basketball. It's why the best White players come out of Europe even though basketball is bigger in the US.

By the way, Caitlin didn't just throw an elbow -- she threw because it because Carter was pushing and hooking Clark's arm from behind (which by the way is a foul that wasn't called) and Clark elbowed Carter in an attempt to get her off her and get her arm free -- a move that happens all the time in a "physical league" when the other player is out of line. If you don't want to get elbowed don't illegally hook the other player's arm and push them from behind.

I have lost all respect for Rebecca Lobo: 1. The official saw it clear as day -- he was looking right at Clark counting -- why is Rebecca Lobo lying and protecting the ref? 2. During the broadcast Rebecca Lobo was completely silent about it being upgraded to Flagrant one (Ryan Ruocco said he was a little surprised it wasn't reviewed and upgraded) and now she is saying it was obviously a flagrant one foul only after the league upgraded it (should have a flagrant two). If it was so obvious a flagrant one why did she remain silent? Isn't that her job as the color analyst and way more so than the play by play announcer?

Rebecca has not seen the same games as the rest of us. Must be too close to the court. Caitlin is being targeted and the refs are totally incompetent. And now Rebecca has joined the ranks of incompetent.
Clark has no braids, no tattoos, no eye lashes, no female partner, no criminal past, earned good grades and is a white Christian. She broke college records, had 30 and 40 point games, triple doubles, shot long threes and was at the top of many stats. She was rewarded with sponsorships, jersey sales, autograph hounds, and a number one draft pick. Which other college female basketball player did more? Most black players, former and current, and many black fans (certainly not all) don't like all of that. Clark's starters don't like her because people say "get rid of X,Y, Z player on the Fever". Clark's coach doesn't like her because people say "fire coach Sides." Her team doesn't like her playing so many minutes reducing their minutes. The WNBA organization, referees to the management, don't like Clark because of having to re-evaluate that Carter foul and having to bow to less illegal play and future scrutiny. The USA Olympic team principals, players and org hate her and her fans. Sponsors and fans (more pro CC than con CC) and WNBA money men love her. We are like Taylor Swift's fans and that is hated and the fans are hated. The sun provides warmth and life to Earth. You can't live without it and you don't dare stare at it. CC is the sun. The WNBA loves the warmth of the new money but hates looking at CC. There is a constant battle between the sun's implosion due to gravity and its inflation due to nuclear forces. The sun is balanced and will burn bright for five billion more years, let's hope CC can make it five months or five years. Let's see if the WNBA can find a balance between the imploding and exploding forces. I am out as soon as the WNBA eclipses this enthusiastic, kind, hard working bright light.

If that ref didn't see it, what was he looking at? It wasn't that he had much else to do. The ball was out of bounds, Clark and Carter were right in front of him, and he didn't see it. Perhaps he should not see his next three or four games. The league had better do something because Clark is obviously their meal ticket out of sports disinterest. She goes down and they're back to 40% empty seats. I'm not saying that she should be treated differently but getting her hurt from the crap that Carter just pulled is totally unacceptable.

And, the general take from commentators is that this is the WNBA. I’ve also started watching professional soccer and the level of positivity is off the charts. I don’t buy the argument that nastiness is a necessary component of competitiveness. Think I’ll stick with college bb and women’s professional soccer.

By immediately calling an ordinary foul, the ref shows he saw it but has been told to expect hits on rookie Caitlin. Yet, despite his immediate call, you say 2:00 he didn't see it. That is impossible. He was standing there. You correctly refer to it 3:07 as an unprecedented & dirty foul. With the ball not in play, it called for ejection from the game.
