I don't watch diamond painting videos for a while now but I watched yours until the end because you're delightful!
I also don't understand why people want to keep extra drills unless they plan to use it for crafting. I just dumped mine in a box in their original bags which I plan to give/sell to anybody who would have better use for it.

Hey Bev , I agree with so much of what you said. I honestly have so many diamond paintings that I don't know how on earth I will get to them all in my life, so buying new ones really has to be a conscious decision. I am glad that you talked about the FOMO of it all. In the beginning, I thought I had to have everything, and I have now learned that I have most of what I need to enjoy diamond painting already. Not to say I wouldn't love trying something new or innovative. I tried sectioning off my diamond paintings and that got old really fast. I tried using cover papers... It also got old really fast. I use them only when I have a section my hand might hit. I'm still on a no-buy until I can get through some of my stash - but I still enjoy the therapeutic part of doing it too. I loved the video. It's nice to know that other people's ideas about the craft have modified over time. Thanks for sharing.🥰🥰

I just started diamond painting and I really appreciate your advice!!!! I’ve only done one so far it was diamond dots from Walmart. Luckily it ended up being a good one.

I use a small makeup sponge with baby powder to make the border glue go away. Cover the main image with release paper right to the edge.

I didn't want someone to be offended so I kept making sure to say that hahahahhaa ALSO OMG I never leave my house BUT I do journal everyday and the traveler's journal is sooooo good for that. You could even get one and use it as a log book. GET ONE. DO IT. Okay baai mummy.

Thanks Beverley! Great video and it was just fun spending some time with you today. These were some great tips for people just getting into them and many things I had to learn on my own from experience. Like you I am a putty girl, an EW container girl and my absolutely favorite tray is the inferno. I have lots of trays but I seriously haven't used anything but my inferno for over a year now. I go by DMC numbers, and when I'm kitting up - I just check my stash for the number. If I have enough in my container, I don't even open the ones that came with the kit. When I'm finished, is when I'll go through the packs and refill my containers. I'm not picky if the drills come from different companies, with different shines - I like the look of the mix on the finished product.....just have to check the colors before mixing - not all colors are equal. But this way, I can get to the placing quicker than fully kitting up.
That's a great method actually! I don't know anyone else who does it that way but I like it!
21:46 OMG I just got done kitting down 2 finished kits and I hated it. And I just realized that in the 4yrs I’ve DP all my kits are from DAC and I have only ran out of a drill color ONCE and I didn’t even have that color in my stash. All I did was email them and that same day they mailed more out. I’m not saving them anymore it’s so pointless! Anyways thank you. 😊
My friend said she saves her spare drills for those "color yourself" diamond paintings, which make sense, but I don't do those lollll! No more saving drills in 2025!
I am new to your channel and just wanted to add I love this video. You are so funny and inviting as you acknowledge there are a zillion ways to diamond paint. I admit I am more like Katie from Diamonds and Washi - I love my trays and pens to coordinate with my diamond painting. I am a year and a half into diamond painting (coming from many years of cross-stitching) and love the sparkle and quickness of diamond painting since I love the big landscapes. I love your tips. I have almost always bought DAC kits, I have just decided to try a few Dreamer Designs from watching reviews of their kits and love your tip to try round diamond kits for a new company, I am going to do that if I branch into other companies. I am a big believer in licensing so that does matter to me, but I have the means to buy premium kits and I also don’t judge others for their different choices. I look forward to future videos from you!!!

Hello Bev! I literally stumbled onto your channel and was curious to see your perspective re this subject matter. With the exception of a few things, I was delighted to learn that we agree on most items. I was also pleased to learn that you are a fellow Canadian (we are living in the NT now, but moved here from NS). Your bubbly and fun personality kept me engaged for the entire hour, so I decided to subscribe right there and then.
My ride or die tray comes from Yellow Dog in Saskatoon. The beautiful lines that I get in that tray would make me super happy if I multi-placed. I have tried soooooo many times, but I have come to realize that my OCD Type A brain will never be satisfied with the result; besides, I find it therapeutic. My health decided to tank over the past decade - an all too often complaint when getting older - and I live in chronic pain, but diamond painting helps soothe it out some. I too have been a xstitcher and I found working on a piece with a high stitch count per centimetre often did the same thing.
I have a suggestion re your washi tape dilemma: I found super skinny washi tape on Amazon (I am pretty sure that is correct) at a very reasonable price. I only section horizontally with the tape - about 8-10 cms apart - and then use release papers over the sections I am not working on. The washi tape allows me to use my cutter to just get the cut started, and then the cover sheet will (usually) rip right along it (think of tearing paper along the edge of a metal ruler).
Where I only started diamond painting this past May, I got excited about DAC and even had their app downloaded on my phone, but something felt off. Then I learned what they did to Hannah Lynne and subsequently to other artists and smaller companies and decided that they were not for me. I have a piece from JGS that I am about to start and that will take me months to finish as it’s 60x180cms! 😂 The artist of that piece is Muncha and it will be perfect for my sister’s studio. I am currently just finishing a piece from Diamonds on Canvas - the artist is Shiloh Sofia Brown - that has captivated The Hubster. It was supposed to be a gift for our daughter and her family so we will see how that goes. 😂

Hiiiii thanks for checking out my video! I have yet to try Yellow Dog, a number of people have said they have great trays, so maybe I will check them out (not that I need more trays lol). I use the skinny washi tape from Jaded Gem Shop to border my WIPs but other than that I just use it to mark the rows and where to cut up to haha. I honestly can't be bothered to use it to section out my DPs and I don't really use release paper/cover papers unless it's to cover a part of my section up while I'm working, but thanks for the tip! Your kit from JGS is HUGE! That's crazy!!! Hope you're staying warm!
@ Yes, it’s true my JGS painting is huge, but it was done that way for a reason. My sister teaches physical theatre and has a giant wall in her lobby that is absolutely blank. I happened to see this kit and asked if this is the idea of what she was thinking of to hang there. I purchased the Alphonse Muncha poster of Sara Bernhardt at the Théatre du Renaissances and it is stunning in all of its Art Deco loveliness. Since I work on only one WIP at a time……. hmmmmmm, this may be the where I break that rule! LOL!

Amen! I did the same in the beginning of my diamond painting journey. Buy all the things, influenced by creators (all my faut of curse)lol. But the fear of FOMO was sooo real. Some dp companies had limited edition canvases and if you didn't buy when they were released you would never be able to get that canvas again. What I earned is there is no shortage of art work. There will always be another release of new art work. I also realize now that my taste in artwork changes and having a smaller "stash" allows me be more discerning when choosing what I really really want. Great Video!

That’s my New Year’s resolution for 2025 .Dont waste time on anything that doesn’t bring you joy . I’m 60 yrs old now , I’ve done the hard yards time to look after myself . I also use the medicine containers the mon to sun ones that I number over and keep my dots in . Love from Australia 🇦🇺

The only time i keep spare drills is to put in clear hollow ornaments for my nephews n nieces to play with, so they kinda look like the old sand ornaments. Once they have finshed shaking them up i bin the drills n refil it for next time. They l9ve muddling the lines up. That is the only use ive found f9r left overs

@BevBee I'm thinking of looking for some smaller ones in maybe star or stocking shape etc n do them as ornaments for an Xmas tree or hang off the fireplace or banister wreath?
Ahahaha, watching through your video you get to the part where you talk about almost buying a second of the same painting... I am more of a coloring book enthusiast but I recently picked up diamond painting to mix it up. And I had this moment of "imagine having so many dp you haven't done you forget you bought it!" And then had a self-reflection moment... because *just three weeks ago* I accidentally bought a coloring book that was on a good sale thinking I didn't have it... and I DID HAVE IT... I even *have* a google doc with all my books listed and I still made the mistake because I was too lazy to go check. So... yeah, I get it lol. Thanks for the tips, it's good to keep in mind if I ever get too deep into this hobby too!
For now... I just get the occasional painting and have a single 'good' pen and a small case for the drills, plus a light table. My setup works great for me, I have fun with it, and *so far* I only have 2 kits waiting to be made (I'm between kits right now, since I just finished a Christmas one I gave as a gift to family).
That's so cool you have a log book for your coloring books! Great idea, I didn't even think about how similar different crafts are! If you get the diamond painting bug make sure you start a spreadsheet hehe

I get my pens from DiamondPenz and she is from Canada. Shipping within Canada is $6 untracked and $13 tracked if I remember correctly..sure it also depends on how many you buy

😅I’m still using my original pink pen and clear 8 multiplacerand even only on my 2nd double square of pink wax(rectangle) after 40 diamond art 12 x16 canvases. I have a box of pens and waxes that I can’t seem to throw away. I do have my canvases in a binder so before I order I can check. I now only keep a dozen in stash. But I have only started in May and I’m really cheap and only buy the crap ones.

I wished I had known, some of my friends, even though they never Diamond painted, find the craft way too simple for their big brains. My Personal assistant used to yell at me saying," How many do you actually need?" Yes, I have some support. But not like I would like.
The way I discovered Diamond painting was I buying kits thinking they were kitchen products. One of my friends open a kit and said, "Silly, this is a Diamond painting kit!"
So, I started Diamond Painting. I discovered Dreamer Designs first, then Diamond Art Club, then Diamond Artisan.
I am an obessive person. For instance I have several cases of high end Tanzanites. So, Diamond paintings are the same way.
I am severely ADHD. Diamond painting relaxes my brain, and give Dopeomine( which my brain does not produce.
I love kitting up, hate kitting down. I have about three storage containers which I need to de-kit.
My Maternal Grandma was from Nova Scotia. She moved here, Southern California, with her American husband in 1918.
My Great Aunt Marian had 36 pregnancies and 17 babies survived into adulthood.

🐝 hey! The only time I section off a full canvas is if it’s for an event with a new start and finish. Then I can pace myself and know how much I need to accomplish each day to meet the deadline. I like fancy cover papers, but the double sided non stick parchment squares from the dollar store are excellent as well. I actually like the new twist pen with putty from DAC! I do have a lot of trays. So sometimes my desk surface looks like a traffic jam ❤
My whole desk is a traffic jam too 😂! Great idea to keep track of your sections for events, I never even thought of doing that and I'll have to try out the twist pen, thank you for the tip!
You rock. I don’t keep my spare drills either. Mainly because kitting up and kitting down can feel tedious to me. I’d rather email the diamond painting company’s customer service if I run out of drills. Also, I honestly find the newer pens and trays from DAC work good enough for me. I do have one firefly tray and I use that now and then. I do agree that a good storage system is a must buy. Working out of baggies got old real fast.

Girl. IF you wanna hang a few and you don’t want to have to patch holes if you ever move, 2 words for you…..Alien Tape!!! I either use poster frames or I just trim the painting edges and use alien tape. So far….nothing has fallen down. Yay!!!!

Hello! I just started diamond painting and I can totally relate to you. I'm a lazy diamond painter. I just want to put drills down. Lol I just need to know how to load my pen with putty correctly, I think I'm a hard pressor. Lol
Use the pointy tweezers for loading putty! Especially in your single placer, it's a game changer! I'm a hard presser too, which is why my pens broke bahahhahaha Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment, happy new year!

Ps I thought about buying a larger kit until I saw the prices…I try to only spend $6 usa for my kits. It’s just something to keep me busy.
That makes sense, but also larger kits will keep you busy for longer and the quality is worth it!
I don't do diamond painting so I don't know why I clicked on this video, I was just going to put it on as background noise but now I'm watching it trying to deduce what all these new terms mean. "Kitting up and kitting down", why "round kits" are better because "square kits" have "gapping and trash", "poured glue kits", "car adhesive", "multiplacer", etc. You said "resin drills" near the beginning and I was so confused for the next twenty minutes wondering how a drill would be used for diamond painting.
"I just prefer to have pens on the thicker side" sounds like a sentence that was censored for RUclips.

I have money to splurge. I don't . I love diamond painting. But, I have one tray I use over and over. I own 4 pens but use the same one. I do own lots of washing tape. But I don't hoard diamond painting accessories. I do buy lots of canvases. That's just me.

There are so many great trays! The thing to look for is just making sure the walls are higher and I do prefer the thicker filament ones because I find them to be sturdier! Best of luck in finding your perfect tray!
