Thank you Shane, for making this video on common errors in Power Apps, I was facing an issue for drop-down using Patch and after watching the video I solved it in seconds. Would like to see more such video on common mistakes and debugging tips
Hi Shane - another great video! I was wondering if you can make a video (or couple of videos) about ALM - I recently realized that building the App is 20% of the work you have to do in the overall app maintenance. Also I think that videos about monitoring, testing, logging, etc. will be really cool :) Cheers.
Shane your tips are great. BUT, sometimes it really is a problem with Power Apps. For example, Monitor reports an error "Invalid arguments to the 'Value' function" and it indicates "the error is in a form's OnVisible event, but I checked the code with a fine-toothed comb and there's no use of the Value function at all. At least not directly. So yeah, pretty unhelpful. Formula tab is blank.
Hey Shane, thanks for the tips. Great stuff. You asked for more ideas for troubleshooting so here's one. I get one of those "pink ribbon" errors at the top of a screen on startup that's driving me nuts because it's so hard to troubleshoot. In this case the error says "The value ': ' cannot be converted to a number." I get that part but have no idea how to find where I am trying to make that conversion. I even tried unpacking the app via pac in vs code to look at all the places in tht screen where it might be happening but can't find it. How would you diagnose errors like that?
Hi Shane, this is Charles from China. I am a fan of your videos. I am facing a problem that my powerapps stuck on getting your data. Do you have any idea about that?
Hey Shane, have a question - How do we solve the scrubbedSentivieData error please? It does not let my flow trigger and I've tried removing/adding the flow to the app with no luck. The triggers were running fine until this morning. The flow does not write to SP. Any help/guidance will be helpful.
Love the tutorials! One question: How do I stop getting the "This app uses controls that may not be supported in this client." when I run my Power app? I know what's causing it, and just want to remove the warning message every time the app runs. Is there a way to stop this warning from showing? Thanks!
Hi! Thanks for the video! I am having this error: Incompatible type. The collection can't contain values of this type I am trying to create a ClearCollect from two collections, but I can't make them work! both of them are table, do you have a video to this case? or do you any clue?
Hi Shane, is there a way to generate a pdf with a page number footer on powerApps/Automate without using a third party tool? Thanks for the great videos!
I get runtime error saying "Network error while using patch function, requested operation is invalid", how do i tackle this? please let me know, my code does not show any error but while running the app it throws error
Hey Shane! Got another question for you. So I'm having a trouble shooting issue with my attachments and I was wondering how to fix a "Fields Id" is required. Any suggestions?
With some other software tools, you can step through the code and see values for variables and so forth. Is it possible to step through PowerApps code?
my worst error to fix is adding data to my powerapp via excel connector and getting failed to load error. No clue how to fix that. It used to work with the same excel file. I added a new table to it and wanted that to connect to the power app but just get a vague error message Any tips on how to solve? I've tried different spreadsheet
Dear Shane, My Application display error message to all users when there's no internet with the database(Sharepoint List ) Name, Please how can i go over that?
Question: All of a sudden i have a DIVSION by Zero error in my live App when it opens. It wasn't there yesterday, but i do not know where in the App this is being generated, how can you find the formula or item that is creating he error without going through every item looking for a division symbol?
In Power Apps Studio - Go to Settings > Upcoming features > Experimental > Turn Off "Formula-level error management". Save, close and open the app. Error gone :)
@ShanesCows I'm getting this error this morning in my App. I have a gallery CloseStoreGallery that navigates to a Design Form. The error I am getting is "Invalid formula. Expected a value compatible with 'DataSource'. My datasource for my Gallery and Form is the same in the dropdown. Item in the form is CloseStoreGallery.Selected. This links to a SP list. Confused as to why it was working just fine and now it is not.
I just went back to a previous version. Who knows. It fixed the problem. I might have fat fingered a phantom character in there somewhere........... *shrug*
I FIGURED IT OUT! PowerApps does not like a label named Address in a Gallery for some odd reason. I kept breaking the link to my form. That was a weird one.
Lovely... Wish I could rent your brain once in a while to fix all the issues reported in my organisation....
You can. At www.powerapps911.com we have ad-hoc support services or virtual team members offerings to let us screenshare and fix your challenges. 😁
@@ShanesCows You Sir are kind and best in the business

Bruce that stinks. I have never had a mystery error like that :( Did you try search for Value(some text) that could be one culprit.

Hi Shane, could you please cover error debugging related to people picker fields like error related to invalid user ids present in edit form..
I don't think I have seen that one before. 😐

I bet you have {ColumnName: ControlName} you need ColumnName: ControlName.Text or Value or whatever is appropriate based on the control.
Thanks Shane
Of course, Sundra!
