Thank you Peter, really appreciated. I promise to ensure only the most handsome profiles of your good self in the last episode :) Remember there's a part II also 👍 Cheers, Si.
Ringing is so important from a scientific perspective in better understanding birds. A wonderful representation of this important work. Such a privilege to have a bird in the hand too! - Particularly interesting for me as I'm currently living and working in Belgium - Stewart.
Thank you Graham, it really means a lot every time you comment. There's quite a few weeks left of this so am expecting you (and Mick)! Just let me know. The group says 'Hi!'. Thanks buddy. Si.
Cheers Keith, really excited about these next few weeks! Thank you so much for your long-term support, it really means a lot to me. Have a great week, Si.
Full of atmosphere & very informative. Great work as usual Simon, can't wait to see what turns up. Not managed much ringing at all at the moment so nice to see what other ringers are up to.
You'd be welcome anytime at SRG Stewart should you want to come down and see Mick, Adam and the gang. Just had a pretty decent (???) Sunday - for this weekends edit, I'm headed back Thursday through to Saturday when they're doing a 3-day sleep over ringing evening and morning (calling it 'Stanstock' unnofficially). Thanks so much for the kind comments, trying to lift this amazing migration buzz to new heights. Amazing whats going on over our heads. Have a great week Stewart, Si.
Thank you Derek - it's a fascinating and simply mind-boggling ride of an epic nature and hopefully more gems to come through the next few weeks! A pleasure, thank you for your kind comment. Si.
So many small birds on such a long and dangerous journey, it is one of nature’s miracles. So well recorded here, the process of ringing and measuring. Great to watch and looking forward to next week’s episode. How do you film the google maps footage?
Thank you Monique. I really wanted to, without it sounding twee, give this migration the highlight it deserves. Think we've lost a lot of the fascination with a misguided familiarity to migration when the reality is one of such an epic and endlessy awe inspiring nature. Maybe because it's difficult to directly see and what we cant visualise easily we tend to lose in our conscious. Thats the great element of what we do and should continue to do - dramatise the dramatic! The incredible drama that's lost to most but would, if they realised it, be a saviour to this planets problems. Personalise it and suddenly you possess it and inherently start to care about it. Can you tell it's Monday morning! Google Earth Pro free download then (I'm a Windows guy) 'Windows logo key' + G to open screen record (sometimes affiliated to X-box - don't worry about that), press record and orchestrate the images you want until your happy you can edit what you've recorded, stop - generally it's saved in 'Videos' under 'screen capture'. Thanks again - Happy Monday! Si.
Hi Si. Excellent vlog as usual and very informative. Looking forward to Part 2.
