Not sure about "Peace be upon him" he doesn't seem an overtly peaceful chap -- or am I missing something re the following from Quran: “Kill them [unbelievers] wherever you find them… And fight them until there is no more unbelief and worship is for Allah alone” (Quran 2:191-193).
Quran[4:89] "They wish that you should disbelieve as they disbelieve, and then you would be equal; therefore take not to yourselves friends of them, until they emigrate in the way of God; then, if they turn their backs, take them, and slay them wherever you find them; take not to yourselves any one of them as friend or helper."

I came across a decent podcast and channel on yt recently by a guy called Rudyard Lynch, hes young and studies anthopology also very smart and articulate. Hes done some really good podcasts about history (on History102 channel) and contemporary issues (Whatifalthist channel) - his podcast on islam is very good. He doesnt islam bash and rightly explains how badass Mohammad was and changed the world. Quite a feat. Yet the peace and defence isnt very convincing.
The problem islam has nowadays it seems to me, is although it has numbers its severely lacking in quality it had in its 'golden era' and reminisence and prayer isnt doing much to change that.
Technology, science, medicine etc has come a very long way and it seems islam is left in the past. Its just MBS saud and the rich arabs who seem to realise theyre up the creek with no paddle when the oil and money run out.

This was so normal in every mosque all over the country. I was born in England in 1982 and I personally saw my fellow students get slapped, hit, beat and have their ears pulled by the imam for misbehaving or being slow learners on a daily basis.

He doesn't believe that Aisha was 9, but he likes Zakir Naik and Ali Dawah, who both claim that girls are ready for sexual relations immediately when they get their cycle (enter puberty). Zakir Naik also supports Shaira law, killing of apostates, slavery, concubines, and says that Christians should be forbidden to exercise their religion in an Islamic state.
There's so many Hadiths that say that Aisha was 9 at the time Muhammad consummated the marriage (or that she was a little child playing with dolls), and I've heard many popular Muslim scholars confirm that, like Sheikh Assim al Hakeem, Yasir Qadhi, Hijab, Ali Dawah

Doesnt it kind of open the possibility of everything islamic being open for interpretation and everybodys personal views of everything? And not the clear words directly from God? @@Lubna.Candidthing is old men do marry young children in yemen, bangladesh among other places. i had palestinian friends many years ago whose mum was incontinent because she had 3 children too young. its common for women to suffer physical damage having sex and babies at the start of their puberty. a 12 year old died on her 'wedding night' it was widely reported ten or so years ago in yemen. old men shouldnt be 'marrying' girls who just started puberty.

@@Lubna.Candid I get Hugo's argument about the prophet's sirah but leave the hadiths and Aisha aside, even if we can imagine a world where muslims put the sirah above the hadiths and emancipate themselve from their scholar's past and present consensus, you still have the infamous surat 65 verse 4 in the Quran about marrying pre-pubescent children. Sirahs aren't much better than some hadiths regarding Muhammad's character, we can't expect a single source to solve all the moral issues, it's more about being free to take what's good and reject what's wrong without being called a false muslim by the ummah imo. You're doing a great job normalizing talking about Islam in a critical but civil way, keep it up Lubna ! ❤
Muhammad had 9 or 11 wives at the same time. Why would he need Aisha to look after his children?
wishful thinking and modern standards aren't the same as rationality. the overall evidence for Aisha's age is much stronger and more direct for her being 6 years old at marriage and 9 years old at consummation.
It's documented by herself in a Sahih hadith, Muslims tend to pick and choose what they want to accept, yet it's all written in their own scriptures, all Islamic scripture in Islamic countries is Sahih, with the information online now Islam has been busted and sadly people like you Lubna are using platforms like this to try and deceive people by fabrication of the truth.. 🇮🇪✝️🇮🇪
also, we have the problem of muslim men in muslim countries 'marrying' very young girls. In some cases these children have died on their 'wedding night' and commonly these girls are incontenant and suffer physical problems as adults because they were forced into sex and childbirth much too young.

Interesting video. But just a note about my experience of watching many Zakir Naik videos, as a Christian. I took an interest in watching and listening to Zakir Naik's popular question and "answer" shows. I noted down in writing, every single verse which Naik quoted and what he was quoting them for. I wrote down what Naik's arguments were. I noted what he avoided and what methods or tactics he was using. I noticed how he used the Muslim audience against the alleged Christians who were asking him questions and I noticed how he cut them off from responding to his answers.
....all this was interesting, but quite incredible, that his Muslim audience was so excited and convinced by him....and so too apparently are all those Muslims around the world who regularly watch his shows! This is to the point where if anyone criticises Zakir Naik's arguments or performance, they are immediately condemned as "insincere" or "lying"! This man is almost worshipped by millions of Muslims!
*But when I analysed what Naik said in his arguments and the scriptures that he quoted - it was quite disturbing!*
Naik totally misrepresents the Bible scriptures, distorts the meaning of the verses he quotes and uses them completely inappropriately! In other words, Naik is a seasoned showman who manipulates the scriptures of the Bible, just as much as he manipulates his audiences. Many of the scriptures which he quotes out of context to the passages they are in, do not mean what he claims they mean and uses them for! I found that Naik also inserts his own narrative into the gospel passages, distorting what the gospels actually say. He does this particularly when he talks about the Crucifixion of Jesus and the resurrection, and manufactures some very illogical ideas, that as "a medical doctor", he should have known better!.....that his ideas about this defy medical science, in respect of his 'resuscitation theory', claiming that Jesus had physically revived and was then walking around to visit the disciples, when in reality, if this were as Naik described, this would be impossible for a man who had Roman nails driven through his feet, let alone a Roman spear plunged deep into his chest from below!
.....I realise that this might offend some people, but honestly Naik is a complete Fraudster! He is a seasoned performer, like a magician who can manipulate his audiences, not with 'sleight of hand' but with a 'sleight of mouth' in which he passes off tens of verses from the Bible in machine gun like fire, which he knows no one will have the time to check in terms of their relevance or contextual accuracy, on the spare of the moment.....thus he gets away with this in his live shows! Perhaps what astonishes me most is that so many simple Muslims are convinced and persuaded by this man and believe every word that comes out of his mouth as if he were a god....yet his mouth is full of deception in these shows from start to finish!

This was really interesting and reassuring to hear a very peaceful interpretation of Islam. With all my heart, I hope and pray that if Islam MUST be a part of the west then it is this version that wins out in the end. However, from what I can see this is as yet, not the case. Islam has colonized over a quarter of the earths surface, mostly by very violent means, and it seems like most of those countries believe in the more radical Islam to varying degrees and so do the most vocal and influential muslims in the west. Islam appears to be so exquisitely prone to extreme radicalization that I would much rather not be around it at all as you never know when it might turn extreme. Unfortunately successive governments have given us absolutely no choice in this country, we are trapped and there is nowhere for the natives to run unless perhaps they are very rich. We are being forced to live alongside people who who hate us for the colour of our skin and our religion. I really worry for my kids future if muslims like Hugo and Lubna don't win the ideological battle within Islam. If all muslims had the peaceful Islam interpretations that Hugo and Lubna have and we could guarantee that they would all stay that way and not be persuaded by radicals at some point, then I would have no anxieties whatsoever living side by side with them. As it stands, Islam terrifies me. I have read the quaran and done some research into it and this just terrified me even more.

✝️ The quran was not standardised until 1924. Before then there was many versions of the quran. Much of what was written about Muhammad was written long after his death and often centuries later. The Bible was written contemporary to the lifetimes of Christ's apostles. The Dead Sea Scrolls (200-300BC) match todays translation, as do writings of the apostles in the 1st century AD. We have contemporary sources who were not Christian, affirming Christ's life and crucifixion, but muslims have none from the time of Christ that back up the story of Isa in the quran, who fulfilled none of the 300+ prophesies that Jesus of the Bible did. Isa is not Jesus. Isa is a counterfeit version of Jesus. The stories of Isa were inspired by the heretical Gnostic texts, for example; where it describes Isa making clay birds come to life. Additionally, the quran is only one tenth the size of the Bible and does not even explain why a Messiah (Christ) was needed.

Integration vs assimilation. Integration is respecting and tolerating an alien culture. That is multiculturalism. Assimilation is retaining a cultural background and respecting and adopting British culture. Integration is separating people by cultural practice, assimilation is bringing people together. When second and third generation say their homeland is Pakistan, they have integrated into Britain but not assimilated. They can live in Britain, but their headspace and cultural identity is in Pakistan. Integration is a failed policy, the focus should have been assimilation. Then there are political movements that are promoting Islam and sharia. British people do not want and will resist Islamic political parties. Are there Christian political parties in Pakistan, Iran, or Saudi Arabia? Anti Islam sentiment is there because Islam is not just a religion, it is a chameleon and become a political animal, The Islam of peace becomes something else to promote a political end. I Would like to see a discussion with Lubna and Hugo about assimilation vs integration.

The Quran has stipulated a waiting period for divorced women to get remarried. This waiting period is called Iddah as mentioned in the Quran. But there is an exception; Allah, the god of the Quran, prescribes no Iddah for a category of divorced women:
O ye who believe! If ye wed believing women and divorce them before ye have touched them, then there is no period that ye should reckon. But content them and release them handsomely.

Lubna, thanks for a very interesting video. I applied critical thinking and wondered why despite intending to dispel the negative public face of Islam, the gentleman could not give his name… for safety reasons, out of fear. Despite criticising the problem with guys like Ali Dawah, Mohammed Hijab and using them as an example of the way radical Islam is spreading, he becomes excited and full of admiration and love for them, extolling their potential and having pride in how close he is to them. I question the topic of Aisha and the 19 examples of how she couldn’t be 6, yet why does it require the effort of 19 considerations and scholarly research to unearth this? Why do the majority of Muslims defend and agree with it. The suggestion made that no one will speak out against the fact was down to… fear! Again! Puberty and a couple of years for time for giving birth? 🤯 still a child! Today, children are still being married off as child brides. Unnatural. An 8yr old Yemeni child died this week on her ‘wedding night’ consummating her marriage (internal bleeding) to her 40 yr old husband (he looked a lot older than 40). Bless her little soul 🥲 yet it’s justified by the same Dawah and Hijab yet your speaker regretted challenging him and enjoyed a dinner with him. That makes me question how true his actual condemnation is or if he’s using your platform to ‘explain away’ the face of it with some Taqiyya? I’m not saying it is, it just might be perceived as such. I question when he says he can’t ‘look down or knock’ their views because they don’t know any better - I would think that’s more reason to share his more tolerant perspective. I feel that’s a failing on his part. I totally get where he is coming from and like yourself he has a great handle on how we could all get along together but I feel he could be braver in his assertions. If the word of the Quran is proudly proclaimed to be pure word for word, unchanged through time, why is their so many forms being exercised? (Genuine question). I will watch the video he recommended to you about Muslims and evolution and I do hope you have him back on the channel as listening more in depth to you both will be interesting, especially around the social issue. Narrated `Aisha:
that the Prophet (ﷺ) married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old. Hisham said: I have been informed that `Aisha remained with the Prophet (ﷺ) for nine years (i.e. till his death).
If you don’t believe Bukhari then you don’t believe any Hadith. The religion collapses without Bukhari

As a person who calls themselves culturally Jewish-I did not participate in the religion but I'm familiar some Ashkenazi culture as that is the culture I received from my father and his side of the family; I'd actually say you are more than cultural as you participate in the religion. Ok, finished it, and I am heartened by Hugo's views that England is his home and his loyalty is to England (or maybe the UK as a state) not Pakistan. He cited the privileges of being in this country which is wonderful to hear. White flight is because the standards are no longer as high as they were. Why should native people watch everything go to hell, and their culture die, from Bonfire Night, Remembrance to Christmas et al? Integration is key, but most (and I do mean MOST) do not integrate nor learn. It isn't racism, it is cultural. Until we talk of the institutional reasons why said privileges exist - the legal, political and economic system leading to the English and Scottish Enlightenment, scientific method, critical thinking etc we will not move forward. Funnily enough, more Indians understand this than many others from other parts of the world. Their institutional structures at home have much to do with this.
We all know who integrates better. An English person will never stay around an area where halal meat butchers start turning up alongside Islamic dress shops and theocratic nut-cases - it is the biggest insult to the British people. There's nothing left for them, so they move to more civilised areas again, usually smaller towns and historic cities. Wherever you find the Georgian towns, you will find the wealthy British people. Those areas are seeing house prices rocket when nowhere else is, and there's a reason for that. I am in the property development and consultancy world. My clients are mostly the Chinese and those from the wider Far East, so absolutely no-one can accuse me of being a racist. I say again, it is cultural. British institutional history, from King Alfred and England's inception in 927 to Magna Carta 1215, Petition of Right 1628, Bill of Rights 1688/9, property rights and trusts since the 1200's etc and so much more, is why people wanted to come here (whether they realise it or not). It is why the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand exist as they do too. Until we teach why Britain is unique in the world and in history, then we will never raise children of any background to protect and defend that heritage, so live in peace and prosperity.
You cannot be on this journey without understanding British history. Without it, you are doomed to fail. Integration must be rooted in why Britain created liberty on Earth, freedom from government (in so far as it can be with undulations through history, and we are in a bad time now) and the prosperity it did. This is what we created over centuries, fought and died to defend (hence Remembrance Day) and unless ALL migrants understand and embrace this, then they will always be 'other' because without the English (and they mostly English rather than British) institutions, the alternative is various forms of totalitarianism across the world, from dictatorships to authoritarian technocracies. That IS human history before the English. If we ignore it, we can see the start of the results already, but the future is very, very dark indeed. There is a reason there is no Islamic dominated country that is both free and wealthy, and that applies to others too.

People want a guiding light and a set of structures. We know what they are. We need to share them so people understand why they come here, so not only do they protect their new found freedom, but our own too. It is critical we share the cultural and institutional knowledge so others carry the torch after we pass. It isn't being taught in schools anymore and it should be. Qur'an 65:4. That chapter and verse promotes divorcing prepubescent girls. Mohamed is quoted by his cousin in the hadith to say a class of the divorcees in 65:4 haven't had their monthly cycle because they're "too young."
The same chapter and verse contains the word "iddah," it's an Islamic waiting period after divorce. Still, the iddah only comes into play after the marriage has been consummated. It was an old means to ensure that the divorcée wasn't pregnant.
In short, no iddah, there was no inappropriate adult child contact, no abuse. Still, in Qur'an 65:4 the prepubescent children have an iddah after the divorce. So the Muslim men definitely married, mated and divorced with these children.
Islam = child abuse. Even today the big money men from out of the gulf states travel into Egypt to "marry" little girls, giving their parents a hefty sum of money, only to "divorce" the kids later.

Good question….basically within 30 years of the Prophet’s death the people he fought to (establish equality and justice) took over. They launched the Umayyad empire and numerous Kings issued fake Hadith and attributed it to the Prophet. This was for colonisation, and to enslave people. That was the first batch of racist Hadiths.
Subsequently, the Abbasid’s took over. In this period there was a brutal Zanj rebellion by mainly black Africans after they were being oppressed and abused. Religion was used to try and curb this so we saw even more racist and slavery related Hadith being circulated.
Sadly, some of these racist Hadith made it into ‘authentic’ Hadith collections.
The Prophet pbuh had Ethiopian/Abyssinian heritage from his grandmother.

Unfortunately, Hanafis left there Hadith principles and adopted Shafi principles which allow then meant all Sahih Bukhari and Muslim Hadith became sacred. Many of these would not make it under Hanafi principles.

The only area of argument in hadith is whether Aisha was six or seven when she was given to Muhammad as a wife. She was playing with her friends on a swing when she was told she would marry Muhammad. She was playing with dolls. This does not comport with the actions of an active woman of mature age in the community.
Aisha was engaged to someone before her marriage to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) so it shows herself and her parents were already looking for marriage.

Today in the poorest areas in India people marry young for survival. Some African tribes people get married young.
I went to an all girls school and the white girls were all drinking, smoking cigarettes and sleeping around at a young age. They were clubbing and lying about their ages. Us Muslim girls didn’t do that.

Appreciate the candidness and openness. For me 2 things helped me think more openly and freely.
1. A deep and true realisation of absurdity in "one lifetime of human life and an etenrity of hell or heaven". A infinitely lopsided consequence is infinitely irrational for the type of loving god described in all major religions. This realisation is the bedrock of open thought. On the flip side, this is the biggest roadblock for open enquiry if someone believes in this infinitely lopsided reward/punishment
2. Religion, culture and customs are the most dependable foundation of identity (of self-worth, not the supremacist type) and moral compass (directionally, not the rules set in stone) for most people. Ripping a person of this identity and faith isnt often the best solution. Instead, developing a mental framework for the possibility of multiple paths to a single truth of reality through self discovery is a better solution. It gives opportunity and time to do a trial and error and learn for ourselves instead of blindly believing in something written or what someone said

1. If God punishes a FINITE crime for an infinite time, it's unjust. God won't get the justice he wants.
2. If God tries to punish an INFINITE crime for an infinity of time (like a crime against his majesty,) in that case, he's always moving towards extracting proper justice, but he never gets there. Again God doesn't get the justice he wants.

The Hadiths were reported 100 years after the death of the prophet. How accurate is it? The Quran says which other statement would you believe apart from the Quran. The prophet was a messenger, he did carry the message from GOD and he was supposed to pass it on to Humanity. So the Quran says follow the prophet which means follow the message that was given to him. It did not say to follow him by growing beard etc. Salah is for GOD only and all praises should be for GOD and not the prophet. If the Quran is complete, then how to do Wudu and salat should be in the Quran and it is in the quran There are 3 salat as opposed to 5, this is innovation the 5 salaat. God says do not associate anybody with me. Why do they mention our propher and prophet Ibrahim in the salat. Salat is for Allah only. First of all, one has to know how old Aisha was when her husband died, and how long their marriage lasted before he died; then one will know how old she was before they got married. Because she can't be 18 yrs old at the time her husband died and while their marriage only lasted 9 yrs and be over 9 yrs old when she got married! You know that... And whose child was the Aisha supposed to be taking care of, because her husband didn't have any child on his own and Khadija's children from her previous marriages were over Aisha's age?
