I remember watching an Ace Darling vs Devon Storm match in the early days of the lightweight division. It was always exciting watching guys on TV that I only read about from the Apter mags. And yes, the WWE always ran it's lightweight division as an afterthought.
@@donniedrunkard here in California I didn't get to watch ECW or East Coast independents so I had to rely on the Apter mags to Lmk what's going on in wrestling outside WWE and WCW.
If I remember correctly, London bled at the same month where Cena and JBL were building towards their I Quit match so it makes sense for WWE not to have 2 similar bloody fueds.
Say what you will about wcw, they at least put effort into the cruiserweight division and treated it with a little respect. Vince showed the cruiserweight wrestlers zero respect. Just because they did not look like Lesner. Shameful. The cruiserweight division in wwe deserved better.
Yeah, it was an episode of SmackDown before WrestleMania XX. Funny how the first to be eliminated of the battle royale was the champion, Chavo Guerrero, and rather very quickly got dumped out of the ring by all of contenders.

No one has it. It got unified with the nxt north american title. Even when it was brought down to nxt they didn't care much for it.
