Yes, I was a police officer too and then quit to go to nursing school, before the police department I demo'ed new products for companies and was a Hertz girl and then a vet's surgical assistant. After the nursing while home with the kids in Texas I had a newspaper column and then in Chicago I sold Cadillacs and had a small business taking care of whatever needed doing for women who had to work. Then private security, also real estate, sous chef and professional driver. You name it. LOL
It just worked out as I in a past career incarnation was a nurse and he just needs the help. In fact only one man I am friends with currently I did not meet on the Internet. He was a friend of a friend and we used to have lunch once or twice a week. He used me as a sounding board about his very closed off marriage mostly. I'm proud to say they are doing much better now. About time after 12 years. LOL He has developed Parkinson's and has said when it comes to it he'd like me to help him too.
I've met most of my men friends through the Internet. The man I live with now as his caretaker I met through the Internet about 15 years ago. We dated for a time, he became very ill and broke it off so I wouldn't have to take care of him, but we kept in touch. He got to the point where he can't take care of himself anymore and we decided that I'd come and help him. I am paid, but he's comfortable with me and would never be with someone else or in a facility. It works, sort of. LOL
You may well be right. There is surely something to 'group consciousness'. I've seen a movie or two where they might spend a very few minutes on speed dating, but nothing this detailed before about it. I think you're right about this leading to more mainstreaming for that venue.
Well, even for those who haven't seen this series. Sometimes a trend just gets into the collective group consciousness that can start somewhere. While I know they have been speed dating for years, I just wonder if this may get it more in the mainstream.... I don't know....
Yes, definitely more efficient. In concept, it has a lot of seeming advantages over other methods of hooking up. I have a feeling that speed dating may become a whole lot more popular after this series..... what do you think?
The obvious advantage is you get to meet a person briefly in the flesh. In internet dating it is often long distance. I work in the tourist industry and meet loads of couples and it is surprising how many met through the internet, Harmony.com and all. And then of course there are those that are into international "mail-order" brides, Thai, Phillopines, Russia etc. So many introduction services available. Speed dating is more local and at your fingertips, so to speak....
Hey wigs, you know how Blue, Jan, and Serena had tag lines? Like... "Where it gets Sinful, spicy, etc." What are the tag lines for the rest of these series?
Hey WIGS. I have a small quality control issue with this episode of behind the scenes. The music almost completely drowned out what he was saying. Guitar too loud, him too soft. LOL
@wigs ... the background music is very nice, but too loud in this BTS episode. Can you take it down a bit in the future? Many people cannot hear speech very well, if at all, when there are loud or many adjuvant sounds crowding for attention at the tympanic membranes. Thank you for listening.
Remember when Stephan said he was a pediatrician and she said he got a lot more handsome.. Maybe that's what triggered the thought. I just thought Christine thinks Stephan would make a good father or something.
Please work on the sound for these behind-the-scenes videos. They are very interesting but irritating to watch. Music too loud to hear the speech, scenes way louder than the interview, etc.
That's a good thought, but I still don't think she's actually looking for someone new. It can change at any moment, but she still just seems to be looking for some kind of skewed validation. Wanting to see if she COULD have found a different, "better" match than her husband. She's obviously extremely unhappy and disturbed about her current life. I don't think she's wanting to cheat or move on so much as searching for a better way to look at her own life. To make herself feel more wanted by Max.
At least I'm well rounded. Sorry, got on a jag there, my original point being that I am on the computer so much that's sort of the natural place to meet men. And it's safe if you do it right and give no information until they've been met and vetted. LOL
Nerve wracking, yes, but more efficient. LOL I've never tried it myself, probably should have, still could I suppose. But, I've spent HOURS with men on initial dates who I knew in the first 10 minutes I never wanted to see again. This actually seems like a good idea to me. Of course I'm not 'searching', if it happens great, if not so what? I get along splendidly with me all by myself. I spend too much time in my head no doubt, but it beats flogging myself to find a man all the time.
That won't happen, his wife would never understand about folks not married being that close in friendship, but I know she won't do it herself either. Sadly. That's what I mean about liking older men. They are almost all gone now. Literally. I have another Internet friend who is fighting prostrate cancer another who died of heart disease and one in Colorado I haven't been able to get in touch with, he had a lot of health issues also, so he may be gone as well. I have no way to know.
I don't see it as juvenile, just nerve wracking. Speed dating is just a way to interview a bunch of guys really quickly, so you don't have to waste an entire evening with someone that you know right away is not for you. It's the mating game in a new form. Why not? Maybe it is better in other cultures where the marriages are arranged when they are children using astrology and a matchmaker. Kind of takes the organicness out of the equation, perhaps, but how else do people hook up?
I would think it most certainly will among those who've seen this anyway. I think it looks like a hoot. I suppose I could still try it sometime. LOL If they have an old bat and old fart speed dating venue anywhere in my neck of the woods. I STILL like older men though and unfortunately most of those are dead now. LOL I suppose I could pull a 'Suzanne Sugarbaker' and make sure he had a valet to push his wheelchair and oxygen unit for me on a date. For those much younger than I, Designing Women.
Thanks for the feedback!
I think Christine is my favorite WIGS production. I love America Ferrera, and from episode to episode I just wanna see her story unfold.
I remember Cory Stoll as Michael Prince from Billions!
Literally, just OMG wigs!
he looked like a serial killer...standing there...staring...gave me the chills. good ep
when it was getting boring it got interesting! great show!
Now, THAT was a twist!
When can we expect new episodes? I'm hooked & growing impatient ;-)

If Christine don`t wanna be married with this guy, I WANT!!! I LOVE COREY STOLL !

Or rather she wants to feel more worthy of Max's love or simply trying to learn to love herself a little.
